So, no looking it up or posting the answer: How many know what the SD is SD card stands for?
I had to finally look it up.

No comment on SD, as there is no way to prove it wasn't looked up. I remember the earliest ones in that form factor lacked the write protect switch and were called MMC. Any takers on that one? I also prefer the name TF card, trans-flash used for micro SD. TF seems to be used more by asian vendors. Makes more sense to me than saying micro SD.

My only dislikes (besides, of course, some titles I want missing) is I wish they had the four directional arrows like the playstation controllers, as they work better on games where you have to make right angles. These round Dpads never seem to work well on pac man, etc. They went with some weird concave recessed cross dpad on the Vita, which is not much better than the round dpad. If someone could try a few games of Pac Man and Dig Dug from the Namco carts and give a review of whether your character turns when you want him to or goes too far sometimes, I would appreciate it. 🙂 Also, I wonder if we'll ever see titles like Donkey Kong and Miner 2049er. Also, why are we paying the same for 20-40 Atari games on the Evercade as for 100 on the PS4 disk? That's about it.

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Yeah. Surprisingly timeless. My nephew, who is 25 years younger than me can recite them as well as I can. -
It sounded like Gradius was coming after DKA and PMDX (gradius moved to the end), yet, I am on a gradius list, soo figured there must have been a DKA and PMDX reservation list already.
-
Yes, thank you. Any opinions on how the 2600 games play on the Evercade vs the Atari Flashback portable or that Euro blaze handheld?
-
I’m a little confused. I think I may be on the DKA list since I bought the DKA box. I don’t seem to remember a pac man dx pre-order email, although I am on the gradius list. Are any of these limited to orders from years ago?

Is there somewhere you can actually get the ten cartridge collectors pack today? Thanks. I mean, maybe the uk, but shipping is an abomination these days. Any USA places?

So, my next attempt with the Roller Controller/Super Action Controller issue will be to try a DB9 EMC filter from https://www.camiresearch.com/connector-protector.html i tried talking to tech support there but the guy seemed to think it was a bad cable or connector or needed a gold plated pin connector, but that doesn’t really add up since it works with a standard ColecoVision.

Just don’t try that 1hr of sleep every six hours method Kramer tried on Seinfeld and woke up in a body bag in the East River. 😂 -

Just to clarify the “ships”, since I didn’t differentiate between UFOs and player’s ships: the asteroids seem the most detailed and textured (near moon patrol 3D but a little cartoony), then the UFOs ( much simpler, but near 3D) then the ground ships you control which I’d call high def/detail classic cartoon, then the backgrounds which are like lower res/detail classic cartoon. -

Astrosmash looks to have graphics more in a 1940s Saturday morning cartoon style (as in Road Runner/ Wile E Coyote timeframe) vs the more detailed and 3D effects of games like Moon Patrol and Battle Tanks, although the asteroids have more detail and texture than the ships and background. The ship and asteroids are high res while the background is more simplified and sometimes blurry, like the pyramids. It may be this variation in style that throws people. I think a 1940s style cartoon or comic book look would be great and almost seems like the inspiration from the splash screen, but it might help to have a more classic and consistent artwork style/resolution throughout the game. Otherwise, something with the level of detail throughout like MP and BT. The gameplay itself looks great. -
What's the Worst Console You Ever Played?

Aren't all five games basically the same one with a different character? Reminds me of the xbox 360 kinect games PowerUp Heroes and Marvel Avengers, by Ubisoft no less. The former had generic characters and the latter Avengers characters, but the gameplay was the same ... why? -

I think the NES game was the first to follow actual D&D rules. Also, there is that D&D electronic board game that might be cool as a board game brought to life with animated characters. -

I never got around to saying this, but I think in the vs modes of missile command the guns should be shorter and even cut back some of the other edge graphics to make the open area and distance between players larger, IMO. -

Which model Intellivision should I get?
Swami replied to sixersfan105's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
The Sylvania ones are best looking to me, Sears ones have removable controllers and Super Pros were advertised as more rugged but I think a lot were made from spare Intellivision I parts. -

Oh, I’d say that’s a stretch, imo. But whatever. Mainly just addressing the inaccuracies in the mobile payer rumors out there. I don’t really know what to call the people spreading them since it goes beyond simple doubt/concern, so I don’t want to include the more reasonable doubters among them. This was covered like a year ago, but they want to dig up its corpse again as if it’s still alive. -
Ever have when you were playing robotron where you survived something incredible and then, distracted by what you just survived, end up doing a simple screw up to die?

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

It is cherry-picking on the part of haters to focus on the whale part. Only 3% may spend over $300 a year, but 16% (tens of millions in the US) spend $60 to $300 per year. It’s not like it’s 3% spend big and the rest spend diddly squat. The $90 yearly average falls squarely in that 16%. Less than 40% are non-payers. Another 40% spend, but spend less than $60 per year. By the way, that 19% adds up to 500 million mobile gamers worldwide who spend over $60 per year, and 75 million of these spend over $300 a year. If 0.1% of these 500 million buy an Amico, it will be a success. Plus, you've also got the specific parents with young kids and the over 50 crowd that overlap. I know now they say the term haters is inaccurate, but when they’re just throwing everything at the wall every week and hoping something sticks, it’s not so inaccurate. -

Now that you mention it, it was actually in the Switch sub forum as we were talking about how the one joycon has motion control, but there is no sensor bar. There is a sensor camera in the left joycon that has motion control, so that may be necessary for long term precision/accuracy. The camera can also be used like the kinect in some games. -

Swami replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
Perhaps still a point of contention, but I don’t think the motion plus controller needed the sensor bar anymore from a discussion in the Wii sub forum once it got both accelerometer and gyroscope. TPS and FPS were always a cursor affair since how would it be able to tell a 72 inch screen from a 17 inch. The Wii U still used it to be compatible with the original Wiimote games with just the gyroscope. -
One hand operation might be tricky if your hand is out away from your body, but if you’re holding it close like when playing cards and resting the bottom of the controller on your chest, I think one hand operation would be pretty easy for things like card games...maybe not something like Defender though.

I think the running man could have a real Minecraft vibe if tweaked a bit.

I agree. We don't need to do things that were done before, we care explore new territory, like the old days.
