  1. I take it you guys know about #rgvc on EFnet? It's a nice chatroom that has been around since 1994. All kinds of videogame talk there, from Pong to GameCube (the 'c' stands for 'classic' but it's not a strict rule or anything). Cheers, Marco
  2. Hi Lee, Too bad you couldn't make it! We flew in from Amsterdam to Liverpool (EasyJet is really affordable) and then one of the organisors picked us up there. I could not believe my eyes when we went to Blackpool on Saturday night: that town's almost surrealistic We had great fun in the arcades indeed, though the big rollercoaster and beer really did it for us Cheers, Marco
  3. Somewhat off-topic perhaps, but I just have to let you guys know that EuroCon 2001 was great! The good thing about the show is that it's relatively small, which gives it a real nice atmosphere. It's just great to see 23 'strangers' turn into a group of friends overnight. It's the videogames that bring us together, but it's the people that connect. Yes, I'm still having all these warm feelings inside Cheers, Marco
  4. quote: Originally posted by jahfish: also i have to give back my driving licence for a month, what canceled my eurocon plans, as i couldn't afford a flight I'm gonna rub it in: you missed one hell of a convention! Cheers, Marco
  5. A Dutch saying goes "geduld is een schone zaak" (use one of the online translators to find out what it means). I just got back from EuroCon in England, which was a real blast. Unfortunately (or luckily, one might say, as it really adds to the feeling of being away) we did not have an internet connection at the venue, so we weren't able to post the Ewok ROM. I just sent it to Alex, so it should be up soon. Cheers, Marco
  6. quote: Originally posted by -^Cro§Bow^-: Marco, Send that extra Shining Force and Axe Battler my way already would ya?! eheh..J/K...just let us know when you put them on the auction block so we can all have a fair shot ehh? I've only just decided to sell. Now I need to figure out the best way to do it. It would be great if someone would buy the entire collection at once, but I think it's unlikely that will happen. On the other hand, selling everything separately seems like a true nightmare... Well, I'll think about this some more when I've returned from EuroCon Cheers, Marco
  7. I was collecting for two systems, the Atari 2600 and Sega Game Gear. I've decided to sell my Game Gear collection though, so I now I can finally live up to my statement: There can be only one! Cheers, Marco
  8. I use eBay as a regular hunting ground. Sometimes I buy stuff there that I can use in trades. Sometimes it takes several cycles before I actually get something that I can add to my collection. I would: 1. find a game at a fleamarket 2. sell it on eBay 3. use that money to buy other games off eBay 4. use those games to trade 5. use the games from the trade in another trade or sale 6. trade or buy something I actually need myself These cycles come up in many different forms. What it comes down too is knowing your "markets" and having a big network of buyers, sellers and traders. Man, this hobby is so much fun! Cheers, Marco
  9. Yeah, he has been extremely busy moving. It's a know fact: only when they move, videogame collectors realize how much stuff they've accumulated over the years Looking forward to meeting fish (and the others) at EuroCon next weekend! cheers, Marco
  10. I have no problem with Ebay at all. Contrary popular believe, Ebay has not only brought us an enless supply of games, it has also (because of the enless supply) caused prices to drop on 95% of games. I know I won't find any NTSC, Brazilian, or Australian games overhere in Holland, so Ebay is an important source for me. Cheers, Marco
  11. I have mixed feelings on this topic. On the one hand, all these new games and hacks certainly add a new dimension to the hobby that helps it to stay alive. On the other hand, an outsider (if he were observing us) could get the idea that all we care about is emulation, hacks and homebrews (almost every time there's some dispute going on, it's on one of these topics). And, at least to me, these are *not* the core of this hobby. So, I guess I'm okay with a separate place for these games - as long as it's way out there, in the shadow of the real thing Cheers, Marco
  12. Sandy Huner has some cool Brazil stuff on his website atari2600.nl, but no listings. Another site with some nice info, but also without lists is Video Games History Brazil . The DPG has quite an extensive Brazil listing. Otherwise, try Ianoid's havelist - he has an awesome collection of Brazil stuff. Cheers, Marco
  13. Hi Ben, I haven't asked him that. I'll do so now Cheers, Marco
  14. quote: Originally posted by Pitfall Harry: That's me, I'm atari200. But I'm already over my limit. I just thought I'd milk my bid for a little fun. Got it. Best of luck, Marco. I hope you win! Heheheh Thanks, but I'm sure I'll be outbid. Cheers, Marco
  15. quote: Originally posted by Pitfall Harry: Marco, It ain't over till it's over.Ben I had no idea you were bidding? I always check the bidding history before I bid, but there were no email addresses there that looked familiar. Are you Atari2000? Sorry about that - you can easily outbid me again though Cheers, Marco
  16. Hi guys, I couldn't find the topic in which we talked about the existence of a Gauntlet box, so I'm just starting a new topic. I asked Al Backiel if he knew if there ever was a 2600 Gauntlet box and here's what he said: quote: My Gauntlet came in a black box with an extra set of instructions. One was placed on the front with a rubber band to look like a box label. What a sneaky "box" that is - turns out Ben was very right in stating that the picture on the Digital Press site looks like a manual Cheers, Marco
  17. I don't care for emulation *at all*. I'm happy to distribute ROMs so others can play them, but it doesn't do anything for me... emulation is like an inflatable doll Cheers, Marco
  18. quote Oh no, I still consider Al as the big 2600 Guru. I mean, a boxed Video Life and a PGP... drool Cheers, marco
  19. I think comparing 2600 games to NES games is an insult... ... to the 2600 Cheers, Marco
  20. Hi Lee, You may want to check this out: http://www.geocities.com/eurocon2001/ I'm sure it will be a blast. You can still book, so don't miss your chance Cheers, Marco
  21. quote: Originally posted by Jess Ragan: Now this is a question I've been wondering for a while. Why do Atari fans resent Nintendo so damned much. Do not pay too much attention to my remark about NES. I'm mainly just joking around. I like dissing the NES because some people claim it's better than the VCS (for whatever reason). I never bought another videogame system (in its own time) after the Atari 2600 - she's my one and only love... ... looks over his shoulder to see if girlfriend isn't watching... Cheers, Marco
  22. quote: Originally posted by Albert: Just don't make me bid against Marco for the manual. Fortunately he already has the box and cart. I actually have two Quadrun boxes, one of them is holding the cart, the other one is still unfolded, fresh from the Atari printshop Cheers, Marco
  23. quote: Originally posted by Albert: I have a big hole in my collection screaming for a Quadrun cart, box, and manual. Anyone have any of these laying around? Just don't make me bid against Marco for the manual. Fortunately he already has the box and cart. Cheers, Marco
  24. a bit off topic, but what the heck: does anyone have a Quadrun manual that they'd be willing to part with? I have the cart and box screaming for one Cheers, Marco

    How rare ?

I'd say the picture label release is somewhat rarer, but I wouldn't make a difference in rarity grade. I think a 5 for both is (more than) rare enough. Cheers, Marco
