Hi all, Can anyone tell me if there's any tool available that lets me compare two ROMs? Cheers, Marco
-
Thanks for your answes, but - sorry to be dumb - I'm not sure I understand the whole picture already. I'm wondering about two things still: 1. why would Bridgestone Entertainment be bothered about the release of something that Atari apparently had some right to (we are talking about an Atari lab loaner)? 2. why has Bridgestone made you the guardian of the Supercharger ROMs? Or, put differently, why don't they look after their property themselves, like any owner would? Why is this part of your agreement? Please understand I'm not in this to stir trouble, just want to know what I might be getting myself into. Cheers, Marco

quote: from the Cyberpunks website: Does this mean the Starpath games are public domain? It took some subtle negotiation to get the permission to produce this CD legally and by the book. This CD does not signal that the games are suddenly public domain or freely distributable, therefore I will frown upon any effort to upload the Starpath games onto web sites I was about to release the ROM of the Atari version of Rabbit Transit, but then stumbled upon this. Would there be a problem if I released it? Anyone know exactly what rights were given to the Cyberpunks? Any Cyberpunk reading this? Cheers, Marco

Ben, I'm curious about that too Marco

$5600... OUCH! Cheers, Marco
-
To be honest, the 5000 was just a quick estimate by me. I think the 600 and 3,000 are pretty accurate. What do others think of these figures? Cheers, Marco
-
If you ask me, it was an insane opening bid Cheers, Marco
-
Define "different": if you mean unique, it's about 600 (not counting new homebrew games) if you mean manufacturer variation, it's about 3000 if you mean label variation, it's about 5000 perhaps Cheers, Marco

Hehehe, yeah. I remember it was bloody hot up there... or was I just sweating at the sight of all those marvellous goodies? Cheers, Marco

Good luck on your search, it's a very hard to find item, even if you're in Japan. However, if you're willing to spend the cash (and speak Japanese), check out this auction: http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d5417169 Cheers, Marco

Hey San, If I remember correctly, Beany Bopper has been on Ebay, twice even (the same cart, it didn't meet reserve the first time). Don't recall who got it... Cheers, Marco

Hi Alex, It's the real thing - isn't it a beauty?! Cheers, Marco [ 09-19-2001: Message edited by: Marco ]

Prices are high, indeed, but these bidders all are legit, so they're probably good for their bids. And remember, it only takes two people to start a bidding frenzy that makes prices go through the roof (remember the Mines of Minos that went for $400?) Regards, Marco

Check this out: . One of these I actually own, the other one.. well, in my dreams Regards, Marco
-
Sorry guys, but when it comes to prototypes I am far, far away from owning everything. No Imagic proto in my collection I'm afraid. Good luck on your quest. Regards, Marco

It's one of the few UR games that's actually worth playing. Tempest Not being able to own *every*thing is the beauty of collecting. If you could, it would take away the motivation to go on. At least for me. When I completed my Atari produced collection, I created a new challenge: finding all first releases (and let me assure you, some 1978, 83 and 86 releases are impossible to find boxed) This is why I'm so glad there's an endless number of Atari 2600 games out there and hard- and software that's so rare, you will be dreaming of it for the rest of your life Cheers, Marco

quote: Originally posted by twit: Marco - geez, you have EVERYTHING!!! I was thinking that to myself when I saw your scan of Gauntlet by Answer, and now that thought has been reaffirmed! Heh, I keep saying that to myself and still I keep finding stuff on people's tradelists and auction sites that I feel to be unbearable holes in my collection. Yeah, I'm seriously addicted... I have thought of taking a break from collecting, even before the NYC and DC disasters. But collecting and talking about classic videogames just gives me too much pleasure, I always find. It's just way too good to give up Regards, Marco

This board was plugged into a standard 2600 to play the games. I can't remember how a game could be chosen, but a simple button next to each of the cart inputs would work just dandy. This is what the Store Display looks like. Of course, an Imagic Previewer would be even cooler - too bad they're almost impossible to find... Regards, Marco [ 09-17-2001: Message edited by: Marco ]

Hi Scott, You're making me blush man, with all these posts about me... ... indeed the Hubot has not crossed the Atlantic yet. A friend of mine has picked it up and we are now investigating ways for getting this thing to Holland. From what we have found so far, it looks like shipping the battery alone will cost a small fortune... However, it *will* be shipped, one way or another, and I'll keep you guys posted on this! Regards, Marco

Hehehe, no problem, check out your mailbox and this picture. I'd make a scan of my Vidco Copy Cart if it weren't still shrinkwrapped quote I think it did, I vaguely remember a picture of the box somewhere. Also, if you look at the label (same type as Malagai) I would be surprised if they hadn't made a box and manual for it. .. just in case: if anyone has the box and thinks boxes are a pain to collect, feel free to contact me Regards, Marco, who figured it was worth the shot - everybody here seems to be contacting Tempest for protos, it would be cool if everyone would be considering me as the box guru that people go to, to offer their cool boxes

Hi Alex, Remember the poll on the Nexus some time ago? I think about 20 people claimed to own Gauntlet, so there shouldn't be any problem to get a scan Anyway, I always thought the high number of Gauntlet owners was a bit suspicious. I've never seen a 2600 Gauntlet on any tradelist or auction in the 8 years I've been collecting videogames through the Internet. Personally, I only know less than a handful of people who own this elusive game. Anyhow, enough talk, here's a picture . Regards, Marco

Welcome to Atari collecting! If you want to know about compatability, check out this site . Good luck, Marco

I take it I'm the only one that actually enjoyed Air Sea Battle? I used to play it with a friend, and because it's such an easy game it allows you to actually talk about other things during play Regards, Marco

There's also an unreleased box for it... pretty cool stuff!! Regards, Marco
