A friend of mine from Amsterdam did the famous Garfield on April Fools' Day a couple of years ago. He really fooled the lot of us on #rgvc, even though he showed us a picture of a commercially released game with production label (and actiplaque!) of a game that could not ever have been passed the prototype stage.. I guess we can be easily fooled by things we'd love to be reality. Little did we know Garfield would indeed surface three years later... Cheers, Marco PS: sorry, I don't have a pic or URL

Hi guys, When I thought back of the 80s it suddenly occured to me I wasn't on the lookout then for certain titles. I had a friend that was the proud owner of a supercharger (really uncommon in Holland!), but even that I wasn't really envious about. I was just happy with every single game I could acquire. Every title, no matter how silly, I would play to death (I admit, I played Air Sea Battle for hours and hours). How different from today's situation: over 1,200 Atari 2600 games and still looking for more... and more... and more Does that mean there's just no fun in it for me any longer? Well... no! I just love the feeling of discovering 'new' games, like the obscure pirates from Australia and Brazil. But I guess I've indeed become more of a collector than a player these days. Cheers, Marco

My Atari collection is all over the house, that is, in places where my girlfriend allows them to be (e.g. *not* in the living room). I mainly collect boxed games, but have no space to show them as I would like to: all on one big wall on thin shelves so there is almost no space between the boxes. That's my dream: my Atari Wall In stead, my games now reside in the study, the basement and the bedroom, some are on shelves, others are hidden away in boxes and closets... all waiting to be taken out some day! At EuroCon'99 we held a 2600 Decathlon competition. I don't think I ever saw so many Atari related injuries together in one room. Actually, I think some of these competitors never recovered from that day Cheers, Marco

Hi, Ebivision is the name that two talented French programmers use: Eric Bacher and Igor Barzilai. They released three games of which they sold special editions at Classic Gaming Expo, complete with colourful boxes. You can order simple copies of these games from Hozer Video, as fish mentions. Eric Bacher also created a new version of Pac-Man, which is absolutely amazing! It really resembles the original arcade game. Unfortunately, the game was not released because of possible copyright issues. Finally, I'm glad to say these guys are not into emulation; as you know, emulation is like an inflatable doll - nowhere near the real thing! Cheers, Marco

Hi guys, I just watched some pics in your archive and noticed that the Boing box you have on file appears to be smaller than the ones I've seen so far. I realized I've only seen European boxes - could there be a difference? The box I have in my collection is an inch taller than a regular 2600 box. To be exact, it has a curved edge starting at normal height on the front and ending one inch higher at the back side of the box. Is there a difference or is the box in the AtariAge file just torn/incomplete? Cheers, Marco

Hi, there was an Incredible Hulk proto 2600 box on Ebay a couple of months ago. Went for around $500 - a Hulk collector bought it, he beat all the bidding Atari fans. Cheers, Marco

Hi, The Yoko copy cart has one eprom inside. The stupid (well, clever from a Yoko sales point of view) is the fact that it has NO window, so it cannot be erased! I asked a friend of mine to adapt a Yoko by putting in a regular eprom, which is erasable (with UV light). He said it was quite easy to do. Best, Marco

Thanks for the info guys! I guess that is the final word indeed. Weird though that they also sold Magicard under the Commavid label, so the statement in the letter isn't entirely accurate, I'd say. "At the time we sold the Magicard, we were doing business under the name Computer Magic" Or am I wrong yet again? Cheers, Marco

One of the trivia messages on the homepage reads that Commavid was originally named Computer Magic. I always thought that Computer Magic was the company that made the Magicard carts for Commavid, meaning that they are two different companies. Anyone has the final word on this? Cheers, Marco
