Funktioniert auch nicht. Ich würde niemals ein Pac-Man für 14EUR kaufen, sehr wohl aber ein boxed SQ Waterworld um 16EUR
That's why Thomas' system is better

Phil,
What an impressive collection indeed! I was wondering, do you have it insured? I was roughly estimating the value of my collection the other day, and it sure adds up. Now I'm looking into getting it insured and was wondering how to insure my collection. I mean, I can tell the company it is worth xxx dollar, but how will I be able to prove it is worth xxx when something would actually happen? I bet the insurance company has no clue as to the value of these games...
Cheers,
Marco

Hi guys,
I was updating my wantlist and figured "why not post it on AtariAge, you just never know!" So here it is, my Atari 2600 wantlist. If you have any of the items below, please contact me. I can offer both trades and cash $$$ in return.
The most conspicuous hole in my collection is Air Raid . Of course I know most people consider this near impossible to get, but it never hurts to try! I have all other super-duper-top-5-rare games, but this one keeps eluding me. Anyone out there care to help me with this one??

Other USA games I'm still looking for are:
Burgertime Telegames (does this exist?)
Frogs and Flies Telegames (does this exist?)
I Want My Mommy Zimag
Sea Hawk Panda
Of course, there are plenty more (see list below), but these are some holes I'd like to see filled up with nice, boxed games

Cheers,
Marco

Don't get me wrong, I don't know this for sure. I was looking for someone to confirm it

Anyone? Or are all experts on their way to Vegas already?

hehehe, well as long as you can be a little irrational from time to time, we'll get along just fine. If you believe logical operators apply to real life too, you'll quickly loose me

But I don't like to wade through an indistinguishable conglomeration of posts! I like your original idea a lot! Just add general gaming (i.e. anything not Atari, from NES to X-Box) to off topic (this is an Atari site after all) and we're all set, if you ask me

Hat irgendjemand Erfahrung damit, *wie* man das macht und *was* das kostet? Also Spedition+Versicherung+Zoll+Steuern+???I have once shipped a giant Atari robot to Holland and it's expensive! I reckon it will cost you about € 500 alltogether at least...

If it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing, why not go for it though? This auction might go cheap, so you may get lucky

The best thing to do is to find a Germany-based freight carrier that has a base near the place where the seller lives. That will save a little on shipping cost and makes communication a whole lot easier.
Good luck!

Marco

Hehe, für mich ist das:1.

2. > 15€

I like it! Anyone can add zeros to their liking! People, we've just discovered the perfect, flexible rating system!
1.

2. > $15(0)(0)

Now if only the Euro and Dollar would remain in a 1:1 ratio...

Fremdsprache (heute eher Englisch).Yep, it's mostly English now. Both German and French are on the decline. I've had English for six, Greek and Latin for five, French for four and German for three years. I can read German if it's not too complicated (which it usually isn't on a messageboard) and spoken without too much accent (went on holiday to the Schwarz Wald last year and I just couldn't understand the bauer we were staying at, it just sounded like jibberish to me!)
Yep, I live close to the German border (only like 5 km or so), but for some reason not too many Germans frequent this town. The ones I see visit the "coffee" shop across the street here and that's about it, only some occasional visitors on Saturday. In other towns, like Arnhem and Enschede there's much more German visitors. And of course some of the towns in the province of Limburg, like Venlo and Heerlen, have lots of drug tourists.
Most people there will have no problem adressing you in German. I can speak some German but I find it quite difficult to speak and write correctly. Don't forget I wasn't born here, I was born near the Belgium border (so I understand Flemmish quite well).
As for the German-Dutch love-hate relationship, I think that's mainly a mass thing. When it comes to football the Dutch will still complain about 1974 and even refer to the war. But that football thing now appears to be mutual (remember the silly "ihr seit nicht dabei songs and websites"?) I don't think the people in Limburg like the German drug tourists, but that has nothing to do with them being German (and we created the liberal drug climate ourselves).
On an individual level, I think you'd find few Dutchmen who don't like Germans. We're not that far apart in character, though the Dutch may be a bit more laid-back. But after you've drunk some beer, you're not that bad either

Cheers,
Marco

I wonder what the voices sound like though. If they're Quadrun / Sesame quality, then we're not missing much here.
Just kidding, sounds (sic!) like a very nice piece of work! I'm sure though people who cannot go to CGE will be able to live without them. Just think of it this way: the hunt for any of these CGE-exclusives will be just as fun as the couple of times you'll pop any of the games in your 2600 when you finally acquired it.

It's the same with any rating system. I mean, how can you distinguish between rarities on a 1 to 10 scale? Somehow though, people feel the need to make detailed divisions. On the C - U - R - ER - UR system, people started to use C- and C+ etc.
I have more or less given up on this for the Atari 2600. I now go by a system that consists of only two categories: obtainable and almost-not-obtainable. The first contains 95% of all items available for the Atari 2600, the latter the rest. It's quite easy to use and makes collector's life much simpler

Yes, I know. But where is the diffrent if it came from Atari for over US $100 or from Best Electronics for less. The difference is that this never left the Atari warehouse, the lack of the beautiful label being the most conspicuous sign of that.
I want that game, and so I have buy it. And many count this too as Prototype. Not 100% real, but from Best Electronics. They who count this as a prototype are wrong, I'm sure any prototype expert on this board will agree.
So am happy, that I have get it.In the end, that is what counts.
I only wanted you to know what you had bought, as many people have been fooled by this one particular item. But I guess it fits nicely in your museum of "prototype" curiosities

Cheers,
Marco
-
On eBay germany I have get it for a better price. And its a Prototype:
Atari 2600, Quadrun, Best Proto,
Ok, only a Best Electronics Prototype, but better then nothing.

That is NO prototype, it is the same thing as described above: a production run Quadrun board in a generic case.
Matty, you may want to ask some more questions first before bidding on stuff that's presented as "prototypes". There's a lot of junk out there that people try to disguise as something special.

Marco

If you have a real lab loaner, you're the man!
However, if you have one that originally came from Best, you have a fake proto on your hand. Still contains an original Quadrun pcb, but it's not a lab loaner. Look for not-rounded edges on the bit too crisp looking label. Philflound is right, there are dozens maybe even hundreds of these in existence.

And as for the Pac-Man ROM, call me weird, but I like the fact that not *everything* is available to *everyone*. Every mind needs something to be left desired

Hi Angelo,
little hint: you should never trust the German guys telling you about the rarity of the German games, they're just protecting their tradelists

AHHHHH holy CRAPAdam Curry is on it, he used to host Headbangers Ball or was it some other half hour heavy metal show ? on MTV
i woundered where he went and now i know

He's back to where he came from, Holland, and is now into hip internet-tv-broadband that not a lot of people seem to care about yet

Hi guys,
I got a mail from Van Burnham explaining that the Supercade carts aren't finished yet. She wanted to have them ready for CGE 2002, but didn't make it. She thinks it'll take a couple more months for them to be finished. Eric Bacher from Ebivision told me that they're no longer involved in the project.
And as for the Pac-Man ROM, call me weird, but I like the fact that not *everything* is available to *everyone*. Every mind needs something to be left desired

I saw those eBay auctions and I'm trying to find a way to work with it, but it's difficult to export something from Brazil and get payed. If you have any tips...PayPal and Billpoint are the safest way if you have a credit card. Otherwise, well concealed cash by registered mail seems to be the only option.

Quadrun Boxed....???
in Atari 2600
Posted
I have a boxed Quadrun (need the manual though) and a spare shrinkwrapped unfolded box
I really wonder why people insist on bringing up (or explicitly not bringing it up) this topic of "I cannot believe people pay etc etc". Do you ever hear collectors say "I cannot believe people actually enjoy playing Boxing"? No. Why not? Because it's all different aspects of this hobby, all worthy of doing and enjoying. Playing is not better than collecting. Programming is not better than hacking. Designing is not better than researching. Collecting is not better than playing. And so on. None of these are going on at the expense of the other. If you want to play Quadrun, you can play it.
So where does this ongoing need for expressing complaints and insanity claims come from?
Cheers,
Marco
