1. Why we're on the subject of EB and the Wii I thought I'd add a letter that I emailed them about a situation this weekend. It's long I know but if you want to read it I'd appreciate comments. This is the first time I've ever done this. I left out lacation specifics. To Whom It May Concern: I’m writing to you to bring to your attention a situation that occurred in one of your stores on Sunday December 17, 2006. It is not like me to ever complain about a retailer or any service I’ve received but I must say that what happened Sunday was by far the most unethical behavior I’ve ever witnessed by a retailer. The situation occurred at the follow store location: As I’m sure you are aware of all the hype around the new game consoles by Sony and Nintendo, and the shortage that there is of each, however I don’t believe this is an excuse for the employees that were working the 17th. Nintendo did a re-launch of the Nintendo Wii that day for one more big rush before Christmas. Many people had to camp out for many hours in hope to get their hands on one for Christmas, I was one of them. I arrived at 12:00 am on Sunday and was ready to wait until 10:00 am for the store to open. A sign on the door indicated that the store had 3 Wii systems for in the morning. I was lucky enough to be number 1 in line with my brother being number 2; we were after these for Christmas presents. At about 2:00 am on Sunday 3 more people showed up all of which said the store was getting 6 not 3 like the door said, they were informed this by EB employees themselves and said that they lowered the number to help with the chaos in the morning. I would like to note that these 3 people didn’t know each other but all had the same story. They decided to stay because at this point all the other stores that were going to have them in the morning already had lines the surpassed the quantity the store would have in the morning. They knew they were taking a chance and decided to stay. We all waited over night with no problem until the morning of the 17th. At about 9:15 am an EB employee that wasn’t scheduled to work that day showed just to see what was going on and if there were people in line. We asked him if he could confirm how many systems they actually had. He said 4 but then quickly revised his number to 3. The two guys at the end of the line were a little disappointed but understood completely and decided to stay to pick up some Wii accessories for when they found a system. They asked if there was any way for them to hold 2 systems when they came in because they had waited over night and were told there would be 6 but the employee said there was no way this could happen without someone losing their job. At 9:30 what looked to be the manager showed up to unlock the door and prepare for opening up. All was fine until about 9:50 am, at this time a couple got out of their car and started walking towards us. We politely told them they only had 3 systems and they were accounted for. The guy then turned to us and said “Oh, That’s ok I have it covered.” He proceeded to the door, knocked on it, and was let in early by the EB employees. Now this isn’t my major concern but I’ve worked in retail and know that you probably have company rules about not letting non-employees in stores before they are open to the public. These employees didn’t seem to care. About 5 minutes after the couple entered the store they walked out carrying a Nintendo Wii box. The two guys at the end of the line were furious, one they were just told they only had 3 which meant either they had more or the first 3 in line weren’t receiving a Wii and two they were told under no circumstance would they hold a system for anyone. Not only were the two at the end of the line mad but so were the rest of us. We had great suspicion to believe that we had been lied to for the past half an hour. We all stood there and waited till 10:00 am for the store to open. At a little after 10:00 the employee came out and let us in. He did in fact have the 3 Wiis that the door had said they would have. At this time the employee that wasn’t even working that day looked at us and said “Lighten up guys it was just an empty box. Honest.” I think this made us even madder because we had been outside all night with no sleep and now the employees were playing jokes on us like they didn’t care that we were in their store spending $100’s of dollars on products so they could receive a paycheck. The one guy who was 4th in line replied to this as “That’s a pretty sick joke.” At this time the employee that I assume is the manager because he was in nicer clothes than the rest said to us “Well you know it happens.” I would find out later that his name was ********** because it was printed on the top of my receipt. This only made things worse. None of us replied with anything and kept our cool. We purchased our Wii’s and the two guys who weren’t able to purchase there’s even stayed after all of this to buy their accessories. I give them props for doing this after the abuse they were just put through. To add to the situation *********** didn’t act at all like he even wanted to be at work. He was very rude to us during the entire situation. I completely understand that your stores are going through a very busy time right now with it being Christmas and with the launch of two major gaming systems but that is no reason to act the way he did. Like I said earlier I’ve worked in retail and under no circumstance would I have ever acted like the two employees Sunday morning, one of which might I add again wasn’t even supposed to be there. We waited all night to spend a lot of money in your store and then couldn’t get an ounce of politeness the following morning. I guess your employees don’t realize that if customers aren’t in the store spending money then they won’t have a job much longer. I guess they think their paychecks just appear out of thin air. I’ve run into other previous small issues with your store but have never had a major reason to complain until now. This is the first time I’ve ever wrote a company because of bad business practices. I believe that the above situation is a very unethical business practice and would hope that EBgames and Gamestop don’t condone this type of behavior. I can honestly say right now I do not plan on ever walking back in an EBgames or Gamestop to purchase any product they sell. There are many other electronic stores where I can get much better service and not be “joked” with. I don’t mind paying for new games even though I could get them cheaper used at one of you stores. Being treated in a rude manner isn’t worth me saving a couple bucks. I hope you take this letter very seriously because I feel it’s very important to do so if you wish for your company to continue succeeding in the gaming industry, which has done nothing but exploded over the past couple years. If possible I would like a follow up email stating what EBgames feels about this practice, what will be done to correct this particular situation, and what will be done to further prevent these types of things from happening. I’m also available for any follow up questions that you may have about this situation. Thank you very much for your time.
2. As far as I know they're aren't any rechargable battery pack specifically for the wii. You could just get regular rechargables that run $30 for the charger and 4 AA batteries. Only the remote takes batteries, 2 AA. They saud they're supposed to last like 30 hours I think, however this has not been my experiance. I've replaced them already in both of my remotes and they seem to be dying again. I think I'll be out buying some recharagables because I'm tired of buying batteries. You can use your GC memory cards right out of the box. There's slots for the memory card and a place to plug in 4 GC controllers. Overall I think the Wii is awesome. You can't compare it to the PS3 and Xbox360 because they're not the same type of system. I got mine on launch and I think I've played it almost everyday. I wish you luck on trying to find one at retail. They're very few and far between. They had another launch today and rumor is it's the last before Christmas. I think that its true for large retailers however the guys at eb today said they think they'll get a couple more later this week. Not to make this post a plug but more just to help you out if you don't have any luck and are willing to pay a premium I have 2 to sell. Happy Holidays and i really hope you find a Wii.
3. Ask your BF if I can come over & play, I promise I will behave 972097 Sure come on over, I'm sure he wouldn't mind the company. We picked up an extra controller yesterday. LOL
4. well my brother ruined the surprise today so I let my boyfriend have his as an early christmas present. We opened it and played around with it for a while and needless to say it is unbelievable. The graphics are awesome I actually thought I was watching a real football game. And a side note we had no problems at all with over heating the system wasn't the least bit hot after 4 hours of straight game play.
5. Yep almost 16 hours in line I think I deserve a little compensation. And yea we ordered pizza the delivery person made like 4 runs to Best Buy that night.
6. That was the general idea. I'm a poor college kid so anyway to make a quick dollar is good
7. No its not that I have 2 of them and only need 1. His is being saved for christmas.
8. Yep the title reads right I have an Xbox 360 for sale. It’s currently listed on eBay with a few days remaining but I figured I'd offer it here until it gets a bid. I'm not really sure how much I want to get for it but PM me with offers. They're currently selling for $800+ on eBay. I have 100% eBay feedback (User name Jilldo33). A little background on the system. I purchased this system at Best Buy on release day and will ship the receipt with the Xbox just in case of any problems. If anyone’s interested let me know. Thanks. Jill
9. Where did he think you were for 15 hours? "Oh, I have to go get some bread at the supermarket. I'll be back at 1 am." 970178 Well we don't live together and he had a night class so I told him I'd be in bed before he was finished. So yea that worked out. As far as it was interesting well it was my first time waiting for a game system and just the atmosphere and the ppl made it interesting. Everyone was nice and considerate we played football, pitched large 10 person tents on concrete, and tried keeping eachother warm in 20 degree weather. Overall it was a good experiance I'd do it again.
10. I snaged one at best buy this morning only after waiting 15 hours in the cold but hey its worth it to see my boyfriends face on christmas. Plus it was an interesting night.
11. If this falls through I'll take them. I just recently obtained a intellivision and don't have many games yet.
12. Oh Oh pick me pick me. Seriously though I don't have that game and would love a free copy. Let me know. Thanks. Jill
13. If anyone else has a copy of this I'd be willing to pick it up for $10, or if anyone catches it on EB for 6.99 again, currently it's $20, please let me know. I was a little too slow on this offer. Thanks Jill
14. If Therealred5 doesn't hook you up let me know I might be able to.
