The O2 really didn't have 10 worthwhile games, did it?

***Warning*** This is an exercise for the bored or unemployed (or both like me). If someone wanted you to recommend 10 games for a particular console that they could play each one for about 20 to 30 minutes to give them a good overview of the system, what would those 10 games be. They should be easy to jump into (not much manual reading) and understand, and together give the person a good idea of the systems capabilities as well as be a lot of fun. 2600 through Snes generation. Homebrews are legal. Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Intellivision Colecovision Sega Master Sega Genesis NES SNES Turbo Grafx 16 Odyssey 2 but by all means, if you would like to recommend for any other system, go right ahead! I only really have played enough to recommend for the 2600 myself. Yar's Revenge Seaquest Frostbite Star Fire (homebrew) Berzerk Missile Command Solaris Pitfall Asteroids Warlords Not only am I curious, I do actually intend on playing (emulation) all those recommended. So if you got nothin better to do..... have at it.

One of the biggest traps in collecting anything is getting into the rut of collecting what other people want, or things you don't really want.... just want to have. We all are guilty of this at some point, and it's a constant temptation to all as well. Boxes don't do much for your enjoyment of the game, they're mostly just something to show other collectors (mostly not completely I said). Want an emotional boost as a collector? Save up a few bucks and buy yourself a homebrew from the AA store. I have a couple R9's and bunches of 5-7's but none give me the satisfaction as an atari player/collector/fan that my homebrews do. Not sure why.

Awesome! I like the lower net.... and the AI was kickin my butt! Fantastic. I still lose a lot of points by the ball going back through my head. I lose a lot of points that way not being ready for the throw in. You did know that the scores roll back to 1 after reaching 10 didn't you? I'm sure you do, I just thought I'd mention it "just in case". This game is gonna rock when it's done!

Mostly yes.... I can't speak highly enough of the stelladapter, one of the best things I've ever bought. Although if I'm playing with someone else, then I go to the real 2600 on my tv. For me, emulations biggest drawback is using a keyboard instead of the real controllers. That's why I put down a month's rent on a Slik Stik classic for using with MAME...... and never regretted it.

I have almost completely switched now that I have a stelladapter. I still keep a 2600 hooked up though.

I'd go for a change.

Played about a dozen games and only got 1 strike the whole time. Luckily it was on the end of a good run. 185 Something tells me that not many folks will be playing this more than a day or so because of the "randomness"

I don't have that one in my Amiga Rom Collection. Somebody send it to me?

Just tried out all mentioned... pretty good stuff. Ran across Shinobi 3... pretty cool. Warmachine.. Wiz & Liz.... I'm glad you pointed that one out to me. Now I know there wasn't any drug testing policy back then at Sega. What a trip. I had to go to the manual archive for that one. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll try 'em all, so by all means if anybody thinks of some more, let me know.

What are some good Genesis games for me to try that are.... how should I say...... more Atari 2600 like. No rpg's, just games you can jump into and have a kinda arcade or 2600 feel to them.

I need a name for this syndrome I have. I play for a couple days improving all the time, then I get a really good score and then I suck all of a sudden. For a day or so, every time I play it's like I get worse. I never seem to get better until I set it down for a day or so and come back. Right now I can't get anywhere near the last score I posted of 19k. I guess I'll break for a day.

I loved all the games, but I never stayed home from the arcade because of it. The "Arcade Experience" was soooooo much more than the game and the graphics.

Atari 2600 (several versions) Atari 5200 (not working anymore) Atari Jaguar Sega Genesis w/CD & 32x Snes N64 I only ever use my 2600 though.

Well, I'll give it a try. Added: Just played with it for a while and y'all are right, it's way better. I'm converted.

I've always used Z26 with the X26 frontend, but I've noticed a lot of people on here prefer Stella. I'm curious why? Maybe I'll convert.
