  1. LS_Dracon First of all let me say what I great piece of work you have going here. I'm not a programmer, just a player, but I'm very impressed by what you've got so far. The bee graphics are fantastic, and I thank you for letting the community play with your creation. I have no desire to criticize your work, it's great, but I thought you might want to hear some ideas from an outsider that might possibly improve gameplay. For your consideration: It seems the ingredient that makes all "net" sports exciting is the "spike", and I think that if you work with encouraging the spike, and blocking the spike the gameplay will be fantastic! 1) I don't think the ball necessarily needs to be faster, but I think maybe the bees should be able to move/change directions quicker. They seem too sluggish for me to get where I want to be on the playfield quickly. 2) I lose the ball a lot off the back of the raquet and through my bee's head. If the bee's head were solid, I think it might add greatly to the gameplay. Along with quicker bees, it would then be much more possible to block "spike" attempts, and I think spiking/countering could be the ingredient that makes this game fast paced and a lot of fun. This change would also allow head butts. 3) Lastly, if you wanted to encourage "spiking", it might be advantageous to lower the net just a little, and maybe even add short retaining walls at the back of the courts. I marked in blue what I'm talking about on the screenshot. Although, now that I look at it, maybe the rear retaining walls would be a bit too tall. I think you've got a real gem of a game going here. Thank you.
  2. Tips: While slow going at first, once you hit 10k points the enemy ships change and it gets much more challenging. 1) Beware the guided missile! No, it wasn't your imagination, that missile just swerved to hit you. You can tell when one has been fired as the sound that the alien ship makes changes from a single high pitched note to a double "blip" that's lower in pitch. Listen for this sound and look out. 2) Don't focus on your targets, focus on your ship and what's coming at it. You'll eventually hit your targets, but you have to make self preservation your priority. Play defensive. 3) Try playing near one of the sides rather than in the middle of the playfield. Your shots that miss will very often connect as the alien ship begins his trip back across the screen. It's like getting 2 shots at him instead of one. This strategy helped me a lot. In short - focus on your ship, play near a side, listen for the "double blip".
  3. This is one of the things I like about HSC. It makes me play games I ordinarily wouldn't. After the 10k mark, this is a decent game. I'm glad I played it! Much improved 14975
  4. First time I've played it ever (and I even have the real cart). Kinda slow goin aint it. 9300 Watch out for guided missiles. I thought it was my imagination at first.
  5. Damn I missed the deadline, didn't I. 6890
  6. I've been using Koleko, and it's about as simple as they come. It also works with stelladapter (just a bonus in case you have one).
  7. nagn2...... I know this is a bit overwhelming, but let me throw in my 2 cents. First of all YOU own the cart.... not him. You don't ask the guy who designed your car where or how you can drive do you? Secondly, you made a great find and you deserve to make full profit from it, that's why you bought the thing. "Dumping" the rom will simply preserve the game and keep it from being lost forever. It is in NO STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION stealing. It will also not devalue the cartridge that you have. It will get you just as much money wether you have it dumped or not. Third..... without the 2600 community that has kept it alive all these years, the cart would be worth nothing at all. Not to you or anybody else. No one would care. The community is why it is important, and the community is only interested in preserving a piece of history. And the community is the only reason you even know what you now have. I feel it would be a very pointless slap in the face to not have it preserved which would cost you nothing. It would only endear you to a LOT of people and secure you some small piece of Atari history. My conclusion... have the rom preserved (dumped) by one of our guys, allow the community that gives it it's value to enjoy it, and then sell it to the highest bidder. Everybody wins.
  8. How do you tell the difference between the heavy sixer and "non" paddles, driving ctlrs, power supplies. I've got some gray power supplies with black Atari logo on them, and one gray psu has a black square with silver atari logo. The different driving controllers I have don't say driving next to the car picture, they say Sears. We're these from the sears heavy sixers?
  9. Minor improvement..... I have to take a break for a couple days, I'm getting too frustrated with it. 6410
  10. Sweet deal. VGC puts that cart cib at 65 bucks. Only thing worth more in the TG16 games is Magical Chase (non cd anyway).
  11. Tips: Most probably covered though. 1) Diagonal Fire is your friend. Use diagonal fire whenever possible. The robots can't fire diagonally, so you can destroy them from defilade. 2) If there are robots remaining when Otto comes out, don't get in a hurry and exit sooner than you have to. Use your positioning to force Otto into destroying remaining robots or just making robots walk into walls. Use their own stupidity against them. 3) It's easier to escape Otto moving diagonally or vertically rather than horizontally. 4) Naah, bad tip... edited. 5) Otto will always appear where you did on a level, so don't loiter in this danger area. 6) It's not too difficult (with practice) to intercept robot fire with your own fire, and since you shoot faster than they do, you can get off another quick shot and destroy the robot. 7) It's possible as a last resort to let a robots fire pass harmlessly through the space between your head and body. I wouldn't use this as a regular strategy, but as a last resort trick to have in your bag. There is no room for error. Bonus points are awarded for clearing a level of all it's robots. This bonus is substantial and should be your goal as long as it doesn't cost you a life trying to accomplish it. Remember, greedy people die.
  12. How 'bout a link to these new switchboxes atari5200dude? I might like to try one.
  13. Would it be possible (not practical or profitable, just possible) to make 2-button joysticks with the buttons having seperate functions within a game for the 2600? And then games that take advantage of the added button? I'm just curious.
  14. Video Game Collector Magazine puts it at 35 loose/ 90 boxed. But thats "book" value. What you can actually get for it I don't know, but I'm sure someone will chime in.
