Your S&H sucks and I hope you don't get a bid!
Blackjack replied to SpendTooMuchOnAtari's topic in Auction Central
Whooooaa! I respectfully would like to disagree!!!! The seller can and SHOULD charge at least something for packing supplies. I've used 3 or 4 bucks worth of packing peanuts, bubble wrap, and a good box on a single item before. Am I supposed to lose that money by only charging what the post office charges me? Or do you just want me to put your semi fragile item in a box, unprotected, and leave it with those ham-fisted neanderthal package handlers at USPS. The seller is not telling you how much shipping is..... he's telling you how much he is going to charge to package and ship the item to you. It's upfront and honest. -

Actually, what I forgot to include is..... It's ok to charge whatever for shipping...... AS LONG AS ITS STATED IN THE AUCTION UP FRONT. If a seller says shipping is "US priority mail" then it should be EXACT postage and no more. If a seller states the full charge up front I'm fine with it, I don't care if it's $50 as long as I know that and can adjust my bid accordingly. -
I live in southern Indiana near Louisville KY and not toooo far from Cincinatti Ohio. I was wondering if anyone knows of any classic gaming events in the region? I've looked for hours on the net and can't find anything but the CinciClassic which doesn't seem to be going on anymore.

Sounds like one of the best ideas they've had for a while........ But knowing ebay there will be a hefty premium on the feature.

Sorry, but I think this is one of the least things an ebayer should complain about. Padding the shipping by a buck or two is money that ebay can't get it's grubby little hands on and ......... All you have to do is figure that into your bid!... Nobody gets hurt here. If your willing to pay $20 for something and shipping is $6....... only bid $14. Problem solved. -
Yes you can use lightguns in Mame, I bought the Act Labs lightgun to do just that(just google act labs). They aren't expensive ...BUT... they aren't fantastic either. A quick review: Easy to set up Must be recalibrated upon starting each new (different) game. Not a HUGE deal, but can be a bit annoying. Mine shoots a bit low and to the left....... NOT GOOD! There is a very slight, but very noticeable delay between firing and hit detection on screen........ VERY BAD! Machine gun type automatic fire in games like Operation Wolf don't work properly. You DO autofire, but you can't move the crosshairs while doing so. Mame has issues with the "Fire offscreen to reload" thingy. It often doesn't work very well. I like it OK with games like Area51 and Maximum Force where you're shooting straight on at the baddies. For games like Crossbow where you shoot things moving across the screen it sucks! If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have bought the gun. The technologhy/emu implementation needs to mature a bit first.

Anybody ever seen this one before? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8122706545&rd=1

You will have no problem running the 80's classics BUT..... there will be several of the newer games that you will not be able to handle.

If you haven't tried it, download LEDhead. It's a Mattel LED game simulator, and I LOVE it! http://www.peterhirschberg.com/ledhead/

Does anybody know if the stelladapter works with emus other than Z26? For instance, Amiga or C64 emulators. Thanks in advance

No personal experience w/ the xbox version, but here's the official compatability list for you to browse. http://mameox.sourceforge.net/compat.php

Keep it boxed and play the game on your pc with an emulator.

Breakpack.... sorry, I don't own an Xbox. But..... Newly added roms not showing up is a pretty common problem throughout Mame. Most often it's just a matter of refreshing the games list (F5), don't know where that option would be on Xbox Check the "View" menu for "Refresh", or even "Audit all Roms" from the File menu, either one will accomplish the same thing I believe. Be forewarned though, this refresh will take several minutes to finish. Good luck

Tsukasa.... sorry, but yes it's true. If you upgrade your $100 card for a $400 one, you'll not get a single frame of speed boost. All of the D3D options have to do with visuals only and do not offload any of the graphics work to your video card. With that said...... the Zinc emulator DOES use graphics plugins and runs many recent games at 100%, and there is also an unofficial "hack job" version of Mame out there called EKMame which uses the same plugins. A word of warning though, EKMame is a VERY unpopular topic in the Mame community, and when I tried it, the graphics plugins really didn't help much.

You never said what P3 cpu you're using.... what speed is it. Mortal Kombat might be a little taxing on your computer if it's a slower Pentium 3. Double Dragon is not your machines fault. Believe it or not, the original hardware that ran it couldn't keep up, and that is reflected in Mames emulation. Try using the a Bootleg version of the rom instead of the original. I use "ddragonb" and it seems to run a bit faster. Also, you can overclock the emulated cpu. While ingame, hit the tilde key "~". Then use your direction arrows to scroll down to where it says "overclock cpu" or something like that..... and bump up the cpu to 200%. Scroll down another and do it with the next cpu. Between the two, you should get good speed. About your video card question..... No matter how much you spend on a video card, it will not make a difference in Mame. Mame does it all with your cpu, so concentrate your upgrade money there. As far as having ALL games running at full speed.... it can't be done. There are some games in Mame that no computer can run at full speed yet. If you get about a 2 Ghz processor and 512 mb ram, you should be able to run 95+% of the games flawlessly. If you're interested, some benchmarks can be found at http://www.classicgaming.com/mame32qa/bench.htm Some of the slow games are: Cruisin USA and Cruisin World Killer Instinct 1 and 2 The Tekken Games Mace CarnEvil Wargods Propcycle Soul Edge Some of the later Street Fighter stuff Hope some of this helps, sorry I didn't find your post sooner. After months of lurking around these boards, I finally decided to register when I saw your question. Mame is a special thing to me and I love to help out when I can.
