The Thrill of the Hunt!
Cobra Commander replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I got a lot of respect for anyone who holds down a brick and mortar store these days. -
Some filler, some gems. The one on top cut off is a Sears "Race". My Sears titles a starting to get respectable. These were harvested from local stores in Denver. Except for Poonyan, Nexar and Mega Force. Which came from OKC last week. Another box of games is coming from another store that had so many titles they had to be mailed because of luggage constraints.

The Thrill of the Hunt!

I'm beginning to think that independent game stores are where its at for me right now. The flea scene is ok around here although I've been known to drive a good distance in "The Hunt". This summer I've scored decent stuff from the Mobile AL flea market. I've driven to a huge flea in Daytona and then to Sanford in the same day. Struck out in Mississippi. Scored again at the Pendergrass northeast of ATL. Lately my wife who travels during the week has been hitting local game stores in the cities she visits. So far Oklahoma city and Denver have been great to us. DFW is next on the list. At the beginning of the summer I was trying to get to 200 VCS games by years end, now I think I'm right around 300. The 2600 is the only console I'm collecting for. My hunt is now nationwide thanks to my wife who likes to shop for ANYTHING, likes exploring new cities and is OCD about lists. I'm going to have to start referring to the collection as "our" collection. We have only started the occasional lowball bids on ebay when we are bored and sitting on the couch or something. -
What is the name of the store? My wife travels to the DFW area for her job and I may have her check it out.

Sega Dreamcast - What Games Are Good?
Cobra Commander replied to 82-T/A's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Sega bass fishing is real fun with the Fission Controller. Tony Hawk's pro skater has a Dead Kennedys video playing on a jumbotron on one of the levels. If I ever get another console it will be a DC. -
Finally got a Heavy Sixer for my Atari 2600 collection!

Movie Trading is the same as Vintage Stock I believe. They have five or so locations in OKC that my wife scored me several(40+) games from in her visits there. When asked about there other stores they were able to tell her that the Joplin MO store has over 3000! vcs games under that SKU in their inventory -
Sega Bass Fishing is reason enough to own a DC. I think the VCS is more fun to collect for.

The Getaway. Got to the last crazy mission and gave up.

Anyone interested in a brand new Atari 2600?
Cobra Commander replied to ceejay1234's topic in Atari 2600
A box in that shape would not add any value IMHO. I would pay $50 - $70 if it's minty fresh. -
Here's what I got so far. I had some color harmony variations that looked real cool. I'll post them later.

I found one of those NTSC Joust games with a PAL end label in the wilds of Lower Alabama the other day. For some reason I knew it wasn't PAL due to its location.

A wooden chopstick eats corrosion for lunch used like an eraser.

In this case it most likely won't matter.

Polarity is important with most electrolytics if IIRC. How are your soldering skills? You may have loitered to long with the iron, perhaps a tin wisker. If somethings getting real hot it sounds like something is shorted to ground causing max current through minimum resistance. For shits and giggles you could leave it on and "let the smoke out". A sure fired way to see what is broken.

POLL: What is your 2600 Daily Driver?

A Sears heavy sits next to my keyboard. I really prefer the faux burly walnut to faux oak. -
If you just replace everything it should be good.

That's good news, I didn't know they were still available.

That's the best reason to start using an emulator I seen in a while. I kinda wish I still had the Krockodile Kart.
