Finally got some paddle controllers and a driving controller from the retro gaming shop in Arlington. That place is RIDICULOUS!!
They have a butt ton of stock for everything from Pong to the current systems. Great prices, as well. Now if I could just figure out a way to use my Harmony Cartridge with these controllers without having to plug and unplug a joystick every time I want to change games...What is the name of the store? My wife travels to the DFW area for her job and I may have her check it out.

Sega bass fishing is real fun with the Fission Controller. Tony Hawk's pro skater has a Dead Kennedys video playing on a jumbotron on one of the levels. If I ever get another console it will be a DC.

I got it at Movie Trading Company in North Dallas. People bring old consoles sometimes. There is a huge one on Greenville Ave in Dallas. And a great store FX Games Exchange on Custer and Parker Road in Plano. Avoid CGX total ripoffs!! I got kicked out of there telling them you are morons for selling a dirty 4 switch wood grain VCS with a power adapter and one joystick controller for $90. Roughly 3 times more than what it's worth.
Movie Trading is the same as Vintage Stock I believe. They have five or so locations in OKC that my wife scored me several(40+) games from in her visits there. When asked about there other stores they were able to tell her that the Joplin MO store has over 3000! vcs games under that SKU in their inventory

Sega Bass Fishing is reason enough to own a DC. I think the VCS is more fun to collect for.

The Getaway. Got to the last crazy mission and gave up.

What store did you get it at? My wife will be in Ft worth this month on business and she tries to find me games in the different cities she visits.

Good info on that white board.

Best Buy should just eat them.

I want one!

A box in that shape would not add any value IMHO. I would pay $50 - $70 if it's minty fresh.

It's really making me lose faith in the homebrew scene which used to be a labor of love for the developers (and thankfully still is for many) but then we have guys like this, asking $72 (after shipping) for a half-assed, rushed game. Worst of all it looks like dozens of people have already pre-ordered it!

A wooden chopstick eats corrosion for lunch used like an eraser.

In this case it most likely won't matter.

Polarity is important with most electrolytics if IIRC. How are your soldering skills? You may have loitered to long with the iron, perhaps a tin wisker. If somethings getting real hot it sounds like something is shorted to ground causing max current through minimum resistance. For shits and giggles you could leave it on and "let the smoke out". A sure fired way to see what is broken.

A Sears heavy sits next to my keyboard. I really prefer the faux burly walnut to faux oak.

If you just replace everything it should be good.

I got a lot bigger shit to be stressed about than home brew video games.

That's the best reason to start using an emulator I seen in a while. I kinda wish I still had the Krockodile Kart.

Ink on paper here. A graph paper notebook makes for easy columns. I'll be hitting 300 stella carts soon so i'll migrate this to some sort of DB. I kinda like paper though for writing quick notes and using different inks for highlights and stuff.

Good job on the ceiling. All the posters really make it extra choice.

The Thrill of the Hunt!
in Classic Console Discussion
Posted
I'm beginning to think that independent game stores are where its at for me right now. The flea scene is ok around here although I've been known to drive a good distance in "The Hunt". This summer I've scored decent stuff from the Mobile AL flea market. I've driven to a huge flea in Daytona and then to Sanford in the same day. Struck out in Mississippi. Scored again at the Pendergrass northeast of ATL. Lately my wife who travels during the week has been hitting local game stores in the cities she visits. So far Oklahoma city and Denver have been great to us. DFW is next on the list. At the beginning of the summer I was trying to get to 200 VCS games by years end, now I think I'm right around 300. The 2600 is the only console I'm collecting for. My hunt is now nationwide thanks to my wife who likes to shop for ANYTHING, likes exploring new cities and is OCD about lists. I'm going to have to start referring to the collection as "our" collection. We have only started the occasional lowball bids on ebay when we are bored and sitting on the couch or something.
