  1. what was the US equivalent to the ZX Spectrum. my thinking is either the apple 2 or the trs 80 or coco

      Apple ][ would compare to the Acorn (BBC Micro), for the Speccy, I would put that as the Coco.

      According to Wikipedia: "Sinclair licensed the Spectrum design to Timex Corporation in the United States. An enhanced version of the Spectrum with better sound, graphics and other modifications was marketed in the USA by Timex as the Timex Sinclair 2068."

       

      I guess that's why associate the two brands.

      I was going more by niche and market between the US/UK markets, and not just the straight same machine comparison, as the Timex wasn't a direct Speccy machine, but one "inspired and based" on the Spectrum.
