I pretty sure that i am correct in what i said that BBSB was also released on disk, as I am sure thst I did see one when I bought by tape original, also on the scrolling advert that's displayed during the loading of the tape version of many USG games it is started that BBSB was released (is available) on tape and disk
Even the old sillica shop catalog had it listed on tape, disk and rom (the text only version) although, i accept that the rom version was an import (I also remember seeing the cartridge box for the 5200 version, when i used to go to sillica shop when they first opened in TCR (tottenham court road)

Sorry about that 'wrathchild' couldnt' quite remember the name
re: bbsb, firstly, and i'm going from memory here, bbsb loads very little into hi mem. i can't remember where exactly it loads but it was in the pg cxxx region, i remember this when looking at the bbsb loader code thru omnimon on a pucker 130xe, i remember that it was less then 10 sectors and strangely enough it gave a dodgy run address again somewhere in the pg cxxx region, the proper run address is in pg 6xxx region
Also do taker into account that what loads into memory will not correspond with the data what's on the tape/disk, various other atari games do this type of loading as well
Also the various hacked versions of bbsb i've seen will load happily in standard 64k xl mode (atari800windows+), the only 1 i use is the multiboot split file version (it doesn't crash like the other ones do)
These 128k versions of BBSB must be newer versions or heavily modified
How about trying some of the Polish proggies or A collection of mastertronic/byteback/atlantis/activision games on a cart with a nice rob c/howfen type menu loader
The game that i'd like to see on cart is Mercenary 1/2 and mediator (once you'd got round the non standard loader, even transdisk had a problem with this one)

nto wishing to be rude or to discourage Wrathman from his good work BUT, I remember reading one of the first UK reviews for one of the AR series, and i remember that they had a quote from Philip price saying that he used non standard or customised SIO routines (not the standard atari ones) as he wanted to prevent people from using his software on modd'd 1050/810 disk drives and that they could'nt be copied
So i'd be interested in finding out how wrathman hacked his way round the non standard/customised sio routines to get the required data
ANother game he could try hacking to cartridge is BBSB, which was strangely enough supposed to have being released on cartridge, i've only ever seen it on tape and disk... the only problem is though is that the game only worked on an xl/xe (as it was one of the first games to use xl/e 'bank switching' and also going by memory only, the data on the disk/tape will not correspond where it loads into memory

i got a similar message whilst looking at atari's corp. w/s
Are you people using the popular download helpers like flashget/getright or mass downloader to download the files... that might be half your problem, as some websites dont like flashget or those types of programs
I've never downloaded anything from that site (lgd/atari.st) as i have found an ftp/website that handlers all atari formats (a8/a16/games systems etc) it's called atari.art.pl, i've never had any probs with this website and it's compatible with all download helpers (although you might have a problem with flashget)
this site has virtually ALL the ST pirate menu disks and some original single boots, also the 'Axel F' compilations (over 3gigs in 5 zip files) as all as st action/st format, start mag disks etc

Not really - while playing Pole Position on PAL both the clock AND gameplay slow down a bit. So it's easier only because you're playing in slow motion :-)With Elektra Glide it's another thing - only the clock is synchronised to VBLANK, and while playing on NTSC it goes faster, but the vehicle goes slower for some reason (well, that's what I've noticed on my emulator at least).
Well,
All I can say is that when we played PP in the HSC 105K was the highest on PP NTSC and I think someone got 110K in PAL mode - That is a huge scoring difference in PP.
try it with the throttle option enabled on Atari800win+ and you'll sh*! yourself, either that or it's unplayable

Try searching for "Star Raiders 2" next time
The game was originally made as a tie-in for the movie "The Last Starfighter". When the game craze waned and the TLS deal fell though, it was shelved...and then later slightly altered and repackaged as the sequel to Atari's mega-hit Star Raiders. The same thing happened on the 2600 with Solaris.
Most of the TLS info is relivant for Star Raiders 2
If memory serves me right Solaris was also done by Mr Star Raiders himself, Doug Neubauer, who co-designed the pokey chip (a8/52xx and coin op)

I've recently been reading a couple of books on videogames, namely the second ed. of phoenix and also a blue hardback book called 'Zap' the fall and rise of Atari
They made mention of something that i'd often heard about, mostly regarding Atari's mass dumping and 'burials' of unsellable goods
The most famous mass burial was apparently the site in new mexico called 'Alamorgordo'
Has anyone ever managed to half inch (swipe or nick) any of the so called 'unsellable goods' that Atari were allegedly or supposedly mass dumping/burying
I'd even be interested what was available when they cleared out Atari corp's former head quarters in Borregas Ave. Sunnyvale CA

Not the impression I got, but 'I cant get to see the file through atari dos' isn't too clear
Carmel, can you post the related, binaries/atrs you are using and exact steps of what you are doing and what you expect to see but are not?
All: Would it be worth trying to convert the PC util Exomizer for the C64 to produce A8 files?
Regards,
Mark
Unfortunately, this board/forum doersn't allow uploading of my .exe files (perhaps they are accusing me of spreading viruses etc... which clearly is not the case)
If you wish to see my .exe files created using atari800win+'s mod'd mlm you will have to send me an email with your address and i will send you the files at attachments

I have made/created atari .exe files using a mod'd version of atari 800 win+'s built in MLM/Machine lang. monitor (vers.3.1)- it also allows you to add run/init addresses to the file
my problem is, is that although i can load these .exe's into atari 800 win+, either by dragging/dropping the file into atari 800win's display or by selecting the file from the 'load executables' tab
I cant get to see the file through atari dos (or compatible) or any of the binary packer utilities (cruncher 5/magnus or superpacker/bewesoft)
Is there a pc packer/packing utility available that allows me to pack atari .exe files created using atari 800 win+'s built in mlm
any help would be appreicated

I seem to have big difficulty in running my rtype game (automation and misc other menu versions) with steem vers. 32 (normal and debug version)
the problem i have is that it would'nt recognise the fire button (which you need to start the game)
It also doesn't work with winston and stew emu's
It does work with saint if memory serves me right

I understand that atari 800win+ has a built in MLM, however i still can't figure out how you create stand alone biary files complete with run/init addresses, as at the moment i am having to stick with omnimon and atari 800 win+ (i seems as though omnimon seems to screw up thestatus of the 'option' key, which is why you need to hold down option and reset/shift to cold boot without basic (if your using omnimon) irrespective whether the 'disable basic' option is marked
I am trying to create stand alone binary files from original Atr disks, so that i can pack the files using superpacker and stick them on a nice dos menu or boot menu
However i am told that atari800win +'s mlm write file option doesnt allow you to add run/init addresses and also it doesn't create a stand alone binary file, as in you can use the file independent of the MLM, which basically makes the write file option little more then a 'memory dump' feature, and not a proper write 'bianry file' option
Is there an alternative to this emulators built in mlm, that has either a write sector/read sector and write/read memory to file and vis a vis
I would prefer that the MLM is part of the emulator, rather then an o/s replacement/patch like omnimon, as omnimon has major difficulties in loading certain xl/xe ATR's, especially programs that run/init at pg. Cxxx and higher or has complex packing algoriths with load itself in high mem., as omnimons code would destroy any data stored in high mem (incl. any run/init addressses) when you enter omnimon, this i don't think would be a problem with a built in mlm with atari 800win+ as the mlm is part of the emulator and doesnt interfere with any code that's loaded into high mem. incl screen ram at pg. BCxx
Any help or patches for this emu's built in MLM is greatly appreciated

I am looking for multiface st and ultimate ripper cart. images and instructions(pref. both) for use with steem engine emu (pc version)
can you refer me to a w/s that actually has these images available for dowload (no dead links please)
any help is appreciated

back in the day of my 800xl/130xe, i always played defender (that easy, i could play with my eyes closed)
I actually clocked it (as in 9999999 then 0000000) on more then 3 occasions and without cheating, you do need a decent, well worn atari cx40 to play it properly
I also got a the level 99 of Joust (easy level), again i really had to play the game solidly
Level 7 on warhawk (no cheats) but i know a cheat for it

What i REALLY want is a packer/depacker that has a low loading capability like Superpacker (which can pack files as low loading as $0480h, and has the ability to pack large files (over FF sectors) like cruncher 5 can, as I seem to have a problem in packing some of the binary files i made from the original ATRs (some of them dont depack properly)
-
I am looking for english instructions for the flashpack binary file packer/depacker
also looking for english instructions for DJ packer vx.x
I am also looking for a variant on cruncher 5 (magnus) thaty allows both run/init addr's and also allows files to be packed that load lower the $B00h (forget superpacker... already using it)

Does anyone on this forum know any atari related w/s that contains original unmod'ed Atr files
The ones i seem to have collected are ever dos booters and 1/2 sector binary file then the game data, or just a dos booter and a binary file
What i'm actually looking for are Atr's in their original data form... i.e original mod'd cassette/orig. disk loader and then the game data
Also, is it possible to create a binary file for the MLM portion of Atari800win+ that you can load with mydos/dos menu's etc... that incl.run/init addresses
-
the a800 psu is the same used by the 1050/810 410 and 1010 disk and cassette devices
-
Most of the Atr's i have contain a dos booter (3 sectors starting at 0700h) a 1 or 2 sector binary file and then the original disk/cass. data (minus the original loader)
Either that or just a dos booter and then a binary file
Either way to me is a poor hack job, i prefer to use the original loader so that i can see where the data is loaded in to mem. using either the DCB locations (300/30bh) or IOCB locations (340-3abh), and do a scan for a JMP or pokes to locations 2/3 or a,b,c or d

atari800win+ mlm setpc command

Thanks, I do know about locations 2/3 a,b,c d, or 2E0-3 (software/applic. run or init addr), unfortunately most programs these days load their code over the original loader which most of the time overwrites the above locations which means you cant see the run or init address, so ther only way of test run/init addr is by looking into the various JMPs or was it JSRs
I do use the latest beta Atari800win+ but i mostly use a modd'd version of atari800win+ v31 that allows me to create proper binary files with run/init (not mem dumps) thanks to stephen/steven tucker, although I would like to see this mod on the latest beta
