  1. hey atarinoob, it's my birthday real soon, can i have it as a prezzie as your such a nice peep
  2. Foxsolo 2000 and DT come together...bits of atari all over the place Foxsolo 2000 goes, i wonder how much we'll get for this clobber on sh**bay DT goes (in his sean connery mode) Bugger all lad, bugger all
  3. turrican ruleZZZ...shame that factor5 didn't convert turrican 3 to the st
  4. I remember the big C (mr Atari history) himself saying that Atari made 1200's with 1450 xld casing's specifically for promotional uses and for CES promotions during late 82-83
  5. where did you swipe the picture from ? As Rybags said, Atari 1200 (or 1450) xl's aren't pc comaptible so you can't use crappy ms/pc dos with it you have to use something called 'Atari Dos' Also you can't you a standard modern pc monitor with an atari 1200/1450 unless you are competent in building yourself an extension cable that goes from the connector that goes into the pc end and building a cable witha connector thaty goes into your atari So you are better of getting yourself a nice portable tv, get yourself a cable that plugs into the rf/tv socket at the atari and tv end please note, unless you are from the US, you might not be able to do anything with it as 1200/1450 where only made for the US market (no pal/secam models are known to exist) as the machine probably comes with a NTSC/US pSU (which you'll have to swap over for a PAL/Secam psu, if your not from the states) Also, as the system is NTSC only, you will need to get yourself a portable tv or television that is multi format compatible (i.e PAL/NTSC) or you'll get the wrong colours and everything will be in shades of grey Apart from that, if this ISNT some april fools joke...well done on your find
  6. if you are prepared to collect or arrange delivery, you can have a couple of mine, as i have got quite a few anyways (i'm in london) Can't use my 8bit anymore due to the fact i don't have working 1050s (not int. in 810s or XF's)
  7. No...it's a prank auction, at least that's what it smells like front where i am sitting (i don't even use eBay)
  8. 50 000, must be the most expensive 2600 rarity on god's known earth
  9. think you might have that wrong...my 1050 (when is was working) rpm'd at 288 (uk/pal) Rana if mem. serves me right was a US 3rd party a8 compat. disk drive...so theoretically it should run at the same as the 1050 IF mydos was created on a 1050 or 810, there might be a different sector interleave with a rana, alternatively your track 0 sensor might be out of alignment, having never owned a rana drive i can't tell you what to look for (re: track 0 sensor, if it's anything like a 1050 it should be a doddle to align the disk correctly and mydos and all your other disks will load)
  10. not seen it but on the same page (google) is an entry video for an interview about why he left CBM Also i seem to remember a programme on bbc2 'open university' series on computing they focused on Atari and something called OPD (one per desk), they showed JT traversing the Atari area of one of the PCW shows The also had various interviews with the then Atari UK marketing manager, a bloke called Harding (can't for the like of me remember his first name)
  11. not seen it but isn't that cheating....or aren't they creative enough to do their own quake engine demo If it was 'fox' or 'yourself' (heaven) that did this demo, i'd understand (as that's your code) tell fox and yourself, keep up the good work next year (how's about a new 'numen' demo that's bigger and better then the last)
  12. hey pengwin...Retro is cool (atari is the greatest invention since good old sliced bread)
  13. especially for our German and french friends Froehlich weinarchten ein gutes neues jahr (sorry, i don't have a euro or german kb) Joyeux neol et bonne annee (see, i did learn something at school) to everyone one else...have a nice one and an even better 2k7 as for gury...Prince Of Persia, Hurricane, Shadow Of The Beast, Last Ninja and Ur-Quan Masters....where are these new games
  14. I seem to remember way back when the st was still with us, Atari planned to do some sort of 'Blitter chip' upgrade on STfm's with tos in ROM (it's the blank IC fitting towards the bottom middle of the STFM motherboard) And as if to verify it's existence, Atari were going to extend the STFM range by 2 new models the 2040 and 40 or 4180 (basically a 2 or 4 meg version of the stfm) however Atari were going to put the blitter chip in these machines (i remember Atari showing them off at one of the old PCW shows) and also offering the blitter chip as upgrade for existing stfm's (and stf's) For some strange reason, best known to atari, these machines never made it onto the market...does that mean that atari shelved the 'blitter chip' upgrade for stf/fm's and saved it for mega st's, the tt and ste etc Curious to find out what happened
  15. GTINTC...what's that, or is that one of the names given to atari 8bit mem loc's like audc1, palntsc, dmactl etc
  16. Also five twenty ten forty and forty one eighty or was it forty eighty (seen at an old pcw show...mid/late 80's), 4 meg stfm...i think there was a twenty forty or something, 2 meg stfm
  17. I still can't understand why tramiel decimated R&D and put in his own crap (or should that be cack) team there Perhaps the warner's idea behind R&D was similar to Bushnell's idea after he quit atari Namely to have lots of project's going on, making sure the technology worked and the product sewn up, then like bushnell's 'catalyst' venture...create lot's of mini/little 'ATARI' alike companies to flood the market with the technology and the product Atari would have benefited as it would have proved whether the technology or the product worked or not and if it worked to incorporate the technology into the computer/gaming platforms Now, they say that tramiel came into Atari from a position of strenght (i.e. he already knew about the computer industry and about marketing, producing and selling computer technology), if he did have that experience he should have used it to take Warner's R&D plans to the next stage (since warners were still part owners of Atari corp)
  18. I know that this is an a2600 forum...I haven't seem Albert and co stock anything for the Atari 8bit....it's still an atari isn't it Perhaps Albert will rectify that next year and can experience the great service that you peeps seem to be experiencing I notice though the AA mainly and only deals with software and printed matter, what about getting into hardware...or even better as AA is one of the leading if not the leading Atari related websites or atari related forums, why not offer an 'eBay' alike service...but also covering 'non' atari product as well
  19. the 68000 has already being done as it is refered predominantly as 68k (hence sixty-eight thousand) the 68020/30 etc, i've alway's heard it shortened to '020 or '030 that's o'twenty or o'thirty...but i could be wrong I think the z80 is pretty obvious...thats zed eighty in regards to the 2600 though...two possibilities...two six hundred or twenty six hundred (or poss'y 2 thou 6 hundred)
  20. What is the correct pronounciation of the CPU for the A8 Is is sixty five o two or is it sity five hundred and two or is it six five o two just curious thats' all
  21. The Speedy format is fully compatible with the USD, Happy and others. The only drive/enhancement I know it has a compatiblity issue in DD disks is The Duplicator. you obviously haven't used a UK imported version (microdiscount/derek firn), they specifically stated that it's incompatible with USD d/d forat, i remember trying it with rob c, ian k and elton/howfen d/d menu (usd format) and they didn't work or load...and it's just a standard USD format, no special menu routines etc...
  22. Dinosaur...are you trying to say your blinding at german or awfull at german...show off
  23. Hey...get away from sniffing the Tempest 2k cart, Dr Clu...or you'll eat electric death Jeff Minter...designer and Programmer (I didn't know that Atari game's were THAT addictive, surely they should be given a AA illegal Drugs' rating...or AAA even)
  24. Not complaining but I haven't heard anything in about 6 months Has jaskier, et al (and the rest) passed away without us been told We had 3 revisions in less then a month and then nothing...or is Jaskier and the A800win team building some or all the new features that he was going on about into the new revision I am still using a800win+ but also atari++ as well (version 1.50) I notice that M E S S, still hasn't got the xl emulation working, what's wrong there There must be some peeps on this forum that are familiar with PC C/C++ language and the techical aspects of the XL/XE and also understand the M E S S layout...and can get a working XL or XE emulation working in M E S S or doesn't this forum like M E S S at all
  25. if your'e trying to convert anything from win98 or newer..forget it, ms apparently changed the format (FAT32 i recall) if mem. serves me correctly, tos will only work with ms dos formatted disks (other then the atari st compatible format)
