  1. I seem to have big difficulty in running my rtype game (automation and misc other menu versions) with steem vers. 32 (normal and debug version) the problem i have is that it would recognise the fire button (which you need to start the game) It also doesn't work with winston and stew emu's It does work with saint if memory serves me right
  2. I understand that atari 800win+ has a built in MLM, however i still can't figure out how you create stand alone biary files complete with run/init addresses, as at the moment i am having to stick with omnimon and atari 800 win+ (i seems as though omnimon seems to screw up thestatus of the 'option' key, which is why you need to hold down option and reset/shift to cold boot without basic (if your using omnimon) irrespective whether the 'disable basic' option is marked I am trying to create stand alone binary files from original Atr disks, so that i can pack the files using superpacker and stick them on a nice dos menu or boot menu However i am told that atari800win +'s mlm write file option doesnt allow you to add run/init addresses and also it doesn't create a stand alone binary file, as in you can use the file independent of the MLM, which basically makes the write file option little more then a 'memory dump' feature, and not a proper write 'bianry file' option Is there an alternative to this emulators built in mlm, that has either a write sector/read sector and write/read memory to file and vis a vis I would prefer that the MLM is part of the emulator, rather then an o/s replacement/patch like omnimon, as omnimon has major difficulties in loading certain xl/xe ATR's, especially programs that run/init at pg. Cxxx and higher or has complex packing algoriths with load itself in high mem., as omnimons code would destroy any data stored in high mem (incl. any run/init addressses) when you enter omnimon, this i don't think would be a problem with a built in mlm with atari 800win+ as the mlm is part of the emulator and doesnt interfere with any code that's loaded into high mem. incl screen ram at pg. BCxx Any help or patches for this emu's built in MLM is greatly appreciated
  3. I am looking for multiface st and ultimate ripper cart. images and instructions(pref. both) for use with steem engine emu (pc version) can you refer me to a w/s that actually has these images available for dowload (no dead links please) any help is appreciated
  4. back in the day of my 800xl/130xe, i always played defender (that easy, i could play with my eyes closed) I actually clocked it (as in 9999999 then 0000000) on more then 3 occasions and without cheating, you do need a decent, well worn atari cx40 to play it properly I also got a the level 99 of Joust (easy level), again i really had to play the game solidly Level 7 on warhawk (no cheats) but i know a cheat for it
  5. What i REALLY want is a packer/depacker that has a low loading capability like Superpacker (which can pack files as low loading as $0480h, and has the ability to pack large files (over FF sectors) like cruncher 5 can, as I seem to have a problem in packing some of the binary files i made from the original ATRs (some of them dont depack properly)
  6. I am looking for english instructions for the flashpack binary file packer/depacker also looking for english instructions for DJ packer vx.x I am also looking for a variant on cruncher 5 (magnus) thaty allows both run/init addr's and also allows files to be packed that load lower the $B00h (forget superpacker... already using it)
  7. Does anyone on this forum know any atari related w/s that contains original unmod'ed Atr files The ones i seem to have collected are ever dos booters and 1/2 sector binary file then the game data, or just a dos booter and a binary file What i'm actually looking for are Atr's in their original data form... i.e original mod'd cassette/orig. disk loader and then the game data Also, is it possible to create a binary file for the MLM portion of Atari800win+ that you can load with mydos/dos menu's etc... that incl.run/init addresses
  8. the a800 psu is the same used by the 1050/810 410 and 1010 disk and cassette devices
  9. Most of the Atr's i have contain a dos booter (3 sectors starting at 0700h) a 1 or 2 sector binary file and then the original disk/cass. data (minus the original loader) Either that or just a dos booter and then a binary file Either way to me is a poor hack job, i prefer to use the original loader so that i can see where the data is loaded in to mem. using either the DCB locations (300/30bh) or IOCB locations (340-3abh), and do a scan for a JMP or pokes to locations 2/3 or a,b,c or d
  10. to be on the safe side, just use the two standard formats i.e, single and/or medium density... very few games support double density for game saves, unless any of those polish/european games do
  11. Hello Mark, long time no hear or see... nice to see your back with the A8, what ever happened to your elite game... or am i confusing you with something else
  12. [the only emulators i am aware of that allow you to create dos/boot blank atr's is anything compatible with atari 800 win/atari 800 win ++ (or emulators that uses the same engine) I also understand that the rainbow a8 emulator also allows you to create empty dos/boot atr's
  13. I am looking for a perfect working image of superdos 5.1 that will load/work on atari800win+, the versions that i seen seem to crash at sector 9 if used on the above emu) I am also looking for Ultimon (not omnimon) o/s image (preferably the XE version) plus instructions for use with above emu. Additionally i am looking for a version of supermon (HTT or other version) for use with the above emu, that traps the reset key (i.e. it doesn't cold start/boot like normal, plus i am also looking for instructions for this o/s replacement Lastly I downloaded the files for Qmeg v4.x handbook, unfortunately it's all in german, i have copied all the text over to 1 complete file (ms word compatible), is there some kind soul out there that will convert the german instructions into english I have tried babelfish, no good as it only allows you to translate upto 150 words, and i dont have the time to keep counting out and copy/pasting over 150 words each time, so if there's someone out there that can convert the file for me, i'd much appreciate it As i am looking to use qmeg v4.x with both atari800win+ and atari++, is qmeg able to create binary files from memory or disk sectors (i.e you load in some disk sectors in to memory, and write out a binary file, like you can do with omnimon, any ATR image and mydos combo) Also looking for instructions for speedy o/s or speeder plus Again, any help re: the above is greatly appreciated
  14. re: copying commercial disks using software based copiers Very much a hit and miss affair, you'd be better off (if you have an ST/e) is to get the happy discovery cartridge) this is basically the ST version of the famous Atari 8bit disk drive upgrade, the only difference is the ST version is self contained in a cartridge which means, unlike the atari 8bit version you don't need to open up your ST/e and start mod'g your internal d/d I do have this item, plus supporting software, if your interested make me an offer
  15. Gleadow has always worked for tramiel ever since he started in the electronics industry with Cummins/Cummings somewhere near durham (UK) tramiel bought out Cummings/Cummins in the early 70's and made Gleadow the manager for the Cummings/Cummins Durham offices (which i guess were eventually renamed commodore/cbm) I also rememmber sending gleadow a strongly worded (non offensive) letter, basically pointed out that He/tramiel were screwing up Atari big time, the sickener was he accused me of being insulting... Of course Gleadow, that's why Atari is now partly owned by the french and is allowing its name to be associated with products available on competing platforms/systems/formats All I can say to gleadow (if he's reading this) is... AND what a GOOD job you did at screwing up Atari (UK)
  16. Someone mentioned the c64 and amiga... look at it this way c64=reverse enginnered from the a8 amiga=atari's surrogate son, bastardized by CBM Jay Miner... mother to the above
  17. I'd give my left testicle if things had turned out differently that can very easily be arranged... by Dr Atari.. ha.ha.ha
  18. I have most of the old d/base Atari user mag's if your'e interested in borrowing them to scan them, slight probby though, you have to come to London to collect (and bring back...as i want to keep them)
  19. is that the database one or the page 6 one
  20. And lastly, i remember reading about an article about the atari memory map and i saw a similar piece in the atari book 'De Re Atari' The article said that due to the way that antic/gtia and pokey are addressed in the memory map, it is possible that future atari platforms will have multiple Antic/Gtia/Pokey etc Also, in the disk version of the atari technical reference book by Bob Du Hamel, they actually gave figures as to how many antic/gtia and pokey chips the atari memory map can hold, and i remember it was more then 3 of each I wouldn't be surprised if the amiga's original PAD setup was another way of doing multiple PAG's but into single chip designs
  21. Shaun... What I meant was hacking out the code in Atari 8 bit emu's that pertain to the antic/gtia etc and how it relates to the rest of the emu. and moddy'g the code by adding extra capabilities like more colours, higher rez, more pmg's, more sound channels etc etc Not only that, i would guess that the various emu's for other non atari platforms are written in the same structures/style, so the code for the various hardware (sound/graphics/processors) etc can be spotted easily, mod'd easily, and as it's written in the same code (assembler, vb, C/C++ etc) the hardware can be ported to running on other platforms, i.e An A8 running PS2 hardware, a sinclair speccy running amiga 500 hardware (ocs) or a c64 running n64 hardware and the best thing about this is is that your creating new chip sets for these platforms, in which you can reverse engineer/engineer back into hardware again... the possibilities here are endless... how about someone hacking the code for the 6502(emulated version, or the 65816 if thats being emulated) and giving us a 64/128bit version with more instructions, more addressing mode, better memory addressing capabilities, handles more mathematical equates etc etc...
  22. Bingo...Right on the button...correcto mundo Are you going to include a 'trivia' sector like this w/s does, as well as an 'in development' section for all Atari platforms (h/w & s/w) And what would help is some nice full blown piccies of the principles behind the w/s (just so we know who we're talking to), you can even include those piccies of Mr atarimuseum.com himself that i've seen plastered elsewhere in recent times
  23. I am looking for a website that has instructions for Qmeg v3 and onwards incl v4.2/3 etc and also Toms mod'd qmeg that i d/l'd for use with atari++ and atari800win+ emulators any help is greatly appreciated I am still looking for images of 'speedy o/s' i believe it was similar to qmeg
  24. fair point karl...I think we'll just call it a score draw, looking forward to seeing your brand, spanking new w/s ASAHP and all those titbits that you were promising and i never got around to seeing (unless i was looking in the wrong section)
  25. I wasn't 'tramiel bashing'... just making an observation... i.e CBM made calculators, atari made calculators, Atari made computers with custom designed chipsets, CBM reverse engineered Atari chip set designs and passed it off as CBM tech.(pre amiga) CBM got into PC compatibles, so did atari, CBM stole the Amiga (from Atari) and according to the Atari/CBM legal wrangle over Amiga, the ST was based on a CBM design, and lastly Atari turned their 8bit computer into a games console (XEGS), commodore followed suit with the 64GS,... i don't see that as tramiel bashing and it's more then just co-incidences... no harm in that is there
