Watching the Rays losing another one. 0-7??

Dirty little secret: Yes, you can run iPhone apps on an iPad. But most of them suck on the bigger screen.

Massive Atari collection for iPhone launches tonight
Tinman replied to Flojomojo's topic in Atari 2600
I ordered and have been playing bait on my iPad. It's pretty decent however controlling the games with the on-screen joystick is lousy. iPad desperately needs some sort of external game controller. -
It works... Mostly. A couple of tim it reverted back to the full version.

I should be able to fix this, I just need to setup the proper user agent for Windows Phone 7. ..Al That would be awesome!

There is a rather nice mobile skin that is automatically selected depending on the mobile device you have. It should work on the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android devices, and more.. Have you tried it yet? ..Al I'm still getting the under construction screen on my iphone.. The mobile skin doesn't work on Windows Phone 7, but then it didn't work on the previous version of the forums either... (It always reverts to the default skin).

Are you sure that was a brownie, and not something much, much worse??? I'm just sayin'...

Warlords. Multi-player fun!

Now, that's just cruel. Especially #5!

I've always loved the Imagic box art. There was something about the silver foil, the bright colored stripes, and the photographs -- or photo-realistic art -- instead of drawn art, that I just loved, especially on the space games. Even if the games weren't always fantastic, the boxes always were.

Some of my personal favorites: 5. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back 4. Space Invaders (Demon Attack would be another great choice in this genre of game) 3. Pitfall! 2. Star Master (Star Raiders or Phaser Patrol are also very good and are similar, but I like Star Master best) 1. Adventure

Wow. This means my collection must be worth MILLIONS! I'm filthy rich and never even knew it.
-
That would be very cool! I like the previous poster's idea of using the paddle to control speed, too. For something like Star Raiders, that would be slick.
-
Those are really nice! Color me very impressed. They'd look great on my shelf and would be fantastic conversation pieces.
-
The scrolling effect is pretty slick. But, is it me, or is the collision detection in this game a bit poor? Playing it on Stella, it seems that unless my missiles hit the enemy directly in the middle, they pass through with no effect.

The space sim games like Starmaster, Star Raiders, Phaser Patrol, Space Attack all have endings.
-
Demon Attack (simple, but good) Phaser Patrol (I know this one is cheating a bit since it's a Supercharger game, but the first time I saw the raising shields effect it totally blew me away).
-
Yeah, but Imagic had the best boxes!
-
My personal favorite is Starmaster.

Question about controller compatibility
Tinman replied to townparkradio's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Just a quick update to my original response. I am not positive that the INTV III controllers were, in fact, removable, and I cannot find anything online that says either way. So, just to be safe, if you buy any controllers, you'll probably want to stick to INTV II or Sears, unless someone else can weigh in here with better info. As for the 2600, as a kid I was an Atari guy all the way, but several of my friends had Intellivisions, so we all played both quite a bit. In my opinion, while the INTV games had superior sound and graphics and were usually more complex, the Atari games were just more fun. Maybe it was the simplicity of the system which forced the game designers to focus less on graphics and more on game play. Or maybe it was just because the Atari was so much cheaper. And that may have led more people to buy it which led to more developers making games for it, which improved the odds of more fun games being made for it... I can say that as time passed, I never even considered buying a Colecovision or a Nintendo, and although I have bought and do own more recent video game systems, I've never enjoyed any of them quite as much as my original Atari and the Intellivision. -
Question about controller compatibility
Tinman replied to townparkradio's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Ok, I'm going from memory here, because my Intellivisions are all in the attic in storage right now, thanks to my wife's demand that I de-clutter the den where they had been... The INTV II, INTV III, and Sears consoles all used similar controller ports that physically resemble the Atari 2600 joystick ports (although the Atari joysticks are NOT compatible). So, for your INTV II, the controllers for the INTV III or the Sears box should work. However, as I recall (and I'm sure you can confirm this on your console), the plugs on the INTV II controllers are bent 90 degrees to allow them to sit flush into the top of the console. I believe that the INTV III and Sears controllers do not have a similar bent and therefore those controllers will not fit into the INTV II console for storage. Also, the Sears console was beige-cream and the INTV III black (I think), so the controllers for those systems will not look like the white-ish INTV II controllers. So, from a style standpoint, they won't look right, but they will work for playing games. The original INTV I console used hardwired controllers, so I imagine that the replacement controllers being sold on the site to which you linked probably have bare wires instead of a plug and are meant to be soldered into the console. Unless you want to crack open your INTV II and do some wiring, you probably don't want those. I hope this helps! -
Ok, good. I thought I was the only one! I'm often a bit behind the curve on the latest Internet humor; I figured this was just another of those trendy things that all the kids are laughing at but go over my head...

Any reason to keep a Supercharger if I have a CC2?
Tinman replied to godzillajoe's topic in Atari 2600
Would you believe I've lost my cuttlecart? It must be around here somewhere, unless my wife has thrown it out, but I can't find it anywhere and haven't been able to for some time now. I am so BITTER! -
I guess we'll have to see if it's any good, but I would have preferred a remake of the original. I'm still holding out hope for the new version of Star Raiders.
