D-pad will be ok, I think, but what would be really cool is to play it with Kinect.

What computer keyboard is shown in this commercial?
Tinman replied to OldAtarian's topic in Atari 2600
It's threads like this one that make me so disappointed that the big game crash happened, thinking of all of the really cool add-on gear and games for the Atari that never were. (Intellivision, too.) One wonders how the home videogame and computer markets would have been different had Atari remained the dominant platform. Perhaps no Nintendo? Or at least not as big in the U.S.; perhaps it still would have been big in Japan. And on the home computer side, would we have seen the rise of the IBM PC, and subsequently Microsoft? But of course I'm mostly just disappointed that we didn't get all of the really cool stuff for the Atari like the Graduate... -
Fun game! And not too easy, which I like. Very well done!

If I'm not mistaken, the sound was from 2600 Donkey Kong, however. Yeah, I wasn't quite sure which game the sound was from although it clearly wasn't Pitfall! Also, the guy "playing" it clearly wasn't used to the Atari joystick because he kept mashing his thumb on top of the joystick handle as if there was a button there, completely ignoring the big red button next to the stick.

Not sure if anyone else watches this show, but on Raising Hope last night on Fox, one of the characters was playing Pitfall! on an Atari 2600. You can't tell from the screenshot I grabbed, but there were some other carts on the table next to the 2600 as well. I couldn't make out which ones they were. I know it was meant to be funny, but still it's cool to see the classics show up here and there...

Can Aquarius Cassette Tape games be copied?
Tinman replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Not positive about INTV/Aquarius tapes, but all of my old Atari and Commodore tapes sure could be. I don't see why INTV would be any different. -
I have but one word for that: AWESOME!

Yeah, I have one on order, but it hasn't arrived yet. Looks pretty decent, hopefully it works well.
-
Yeah, there's a waiting list. Send an email to [email protected] to get on it.

I think it is a real issue. It hasn't happened to me in years, but I seem to recall playing the occasional game where it has happened.

My favorite Activision game by far is also one of my favorite games for the 2600, period. It is Starmaster. The Atari 800 version of Star Raiders is my all-time favorite game on any system, and Starmaster is the best 2600 port, better than the 2600 version of Star Raiders, and I think more fun to play even then the Starpath Supercharger game Phaser Patrol. I've been meaning for a long time to write a detailed comparison of all of the Star Raiders-like games on the 2600 but I just haven't gotten around to it... Among my other Activision favorites are Ice Hockey, Laser Blast, and Kaboom. Also Skiing, Chopper Command, Pitfall!... There were so many great ones.

I have an old Telstar, although it's been awhile since I've tried to play it. As I recall, the sound comes directly from the unit itself, not the TV, so are you sure you've got a good connection to your television? You might want to open the Telstar and see if the TV cable is firmly connected to the board inside.

Are there no more Stelladaptors available? I realize I'm late to the party, but I was really hoping to purchase a couple. Unfortunately, there is no "Add to cart" button on the Stelladaptor page in the store and I can't find any news one way or the other in the store or in the forums. Can anyone help clue me in on their status? Thanks!

One more from me... It's not very good. The image needs work to make it the correct dimensions for the cart. -
Online Atari 2600 Label Maker : Now with Silver Labels
Tinman replied to Cropsy's topic in Atari 2600
I love this! I've made a couple. One with my son, who is playing in the Tiny Mights division of Pop Warner football, and one ripped off from a Star Trek themed Demotivator poster. -
Starmaster was my favorite because it was the best first-person space shooter available, and that is my favorite genre. Star Raiders on the 8-bits remains my all-time favorite video game. Adventure is my second fave 2600 game.

I apologize if you've answered this before, but is there any chance you'll release this as an Atari 800 cart?
-
Thanks! I actually determined late yesterday that the game I'm looking for was called Galaxy, but I haven't as yet found it. I did find copies of the other two, which are called NukeWar and Midway Campaign. But I'll go play the ones you sent me, too... Thanks again! Perry [email protected]

I'm new here, but am going to jump in with my response to this. I have always felt that the single best video game ever written on ANY system, before or since, is Star Raiders on the 8-bit computers. Even all these years later, it's still my favorite game. On the 2600, I have a few favorites (in no particular order): Adventure Superman Space Invaders and the Star Raiders "clones": - Starmaster - Star Raiders (2600) - Phaser Patrol - Solaris - Star Voyager (although this one is nowhere near as good as the others) I'm in the process of putting up a new classic games section on my website and one of the first things I'm working on is a review/comparison of those Star Raiders "clones". I'll post again when it's ready. Perry [email protected] www.grabaclue.com

Hi all, I'm looking for an 8-bit game that I used to play years ago. I believe it was called Space War and was published (on tape!) by Avalon Hill. It was a multi-player game and you took turns sending out your fleets from your planets to other neutral planets or to your friends' planets. The fleets would take several turns to make the voyage between planets, depending on the distance, and no one could see where the fleets were, so you could negociate with your friends and then screw them over by having a large fleet show up unexpected at their home planet. It was a lot of fun, and I'd love to play it again if I could find it. I'm also looking for two other games, I'm not sure who released them. One was called Midway and it was a re-creation of the battle of midway (mostly text-based), and the other I think was called Thermonuclear War, or possibly Cold War. You started in a "cold war" and built up your weapons and then after a time you or the computer would declare a "hot war" and you'd fight it out. Can anyone help me find these games? Thanks!
