I am very interested in the world of classic computers and I am looking for a great introduction computer. I know that most normal instincts would say the Commodore 64, but I have read of a number of quality issues (overheating, motherboard failure, etc.) and would like to know what other peoples gateway system was and what you would recomend. Thank you in advance.

+Dragonstomper how much were you thinking for the price. I expect shipping to bite but I can deal.

Btw, if possible, I am looking specifically for the Apple IIe or IIc.

I am very new to the world of classic computing and I feel that an Apple II would be a good place to start. My problem is, every time I go on eBay I find plenty of systems but they all either look damaged, are missing keys, or just haven't been tested. I would much rather pay more for something that will work than gamble on it and have a broken computer lying around. Does anyone know of a place that sells refurbished systems hopefully under $250? Than you in advance.

I am a pretty new collector. My first games that I picked up were Joust and Combat, I got them knowing I would eventually have a system and wanted a small library of cartriges to play as soon as I got it.
