Hey. I'm getting by. I posted a thread in the general chat to fill everyone in. Check it out.

      Hi RamrodHare. That was interesting!

  2. I just did all my shopping without leaving my chair. I also got everything cheaper than retail and got out of paying sales tax. Now I don't have to go to the Flu infested stores. I just wait on everything to arrive.

Other than T-shirts, I have learned that trying to buy clothing online is bound to lead to failure in correct sizing.

Some of the things I needed were medical supplies that I can't get locally. I also saved over $50 by getting everything online. With my health like it is, I feel like getting packages delivered is safer than going to 3 or 4 different stores with the flu as bad as it is.

      Welcome to the Future! :)

  3. I've been playing the GBA quite a bit, which caused me to play the GBC and then the original GB. Is it odd that the older the games and systems are, the better I like them? The 2600 is still my favorite, but I've found some really awesome games on systems I never considered buying back in the day.

I'm really partial to handheld systems, which is why I skipped a lot of the consoles when they came out. Now with emulation on the PSP, I have the chance to enjoy those consoles, in a handheld version.

Honestly for me - even with emulation being around for so long - the PSP is the main reason I have played so many games on "new to me" consoles/computers. MSX is one example that jumps to mind.

  4. I think I've set a new record for myself! I've managed to listen to nothing but Steely Dan for well over 2 months now. I have a habit of sticking with one band until I get tired of their music, but there's just something about Steely Dan that never gets old!

I just got the MFSL one step version of The Nightfly. Decent lp but I wish I had left it sealed and flipped it.

^ Very, very tempting sometimes! I tend not to look at my music collection that way, but shit. Have a small fortune tied up into the stuff for sure. ;-)

Heck, I DO look at my music collection that way... difference is, I rarely ever let any of it go. lol

  5. No running water, no heat in any room other than my bedroom. I'm very thankful for my electric blanket right now. I'm ready for winter to be over.

Sold mobile home for a while. Yep, gotta be sure you have good skirting and insulation around the pipes. Hope your luck changes soon!

If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. The best thing about hitting rock bottom is there's nowhere to go but up! LOL

Goldleader, I'm sorry you're hurting too. These kidney stones are the worst pain I've ever had. I don't wish that on my worst enemies, much less my friends here at AA.

  6. I can't stop thinking about how much I want a 2600 heavy sixer. I don't "NEED" it and I can't afford it, but I'm still tempted to just sell a bunch of the stuff I have around the house so I can get one.

If you have more time than money, consider regularly checking EBay listings for "Atari console" Every once in a while, someone will list a heavy sixer with a generic listing title like that. Good luck!

  7. Well, Christmas was more or less what I expected. No gifts, no cash. Dinner was a couple of microwaved hot dogs. I had intended to watch a movie or play a few games, but instead I got a migraine. Still, things could be worse, so all in all, I'm still in a decent mood.

Thanks for the replies everyone! My migraine is gone today and it's been an OK day. I might actually get around to playing some 2600 games tonight!

  8. Another year almost gone. What did I accomplish this year? Nothing really. I played the hell out of some Atari 2600 games. That's about it.

  9. I watched the remake of "IT" and I actually liked it a lot. So much that I watched it twice! I thought I'd have an issue with Pennywise not being played by Tim Curry, but I was wrong. The character Ritchie is played by Finn Wofhard. Also known as "Mike" on Stranger Things. So that was cool.

RT, The clown comes off as being kind of goofy, so he can easily lure children closer, I suppose. Just like the original Pennywise, he can change shape, making for some extremely cool scare tactics. The new movie focuses on the kids and their first run-in with Pennywise, where the original focused on the adults going back to fight him the second time.

    3. RamrodHare

      RamrodHare

After watching it the first time, I decided I wanted my father to see it, since it hadn't been long since I talked him into watching the original. So I watched it with him the second time and noticed some neat things that I missed the first time through. My father actually stayed awake and enjoyed the movie, which is rare, since he normally falls asleep during anything other than a Western. LOL

That's good. I didn't like the adult part anyway, except for "kiss me fat boy."

  10. I get really agitated when I see my friends somewhere and they tell me they came by my house and knocked on the door but I wasn't home. I say, "Why didn't you ring the doorbell? I can't hear people knocking on the door from my bedroom." The reply is always the same, "I didn't know the doorbell worked." I know my friends are idiots, but really, how hard is it to push the button and see if it works?

  11. A couple of years ago I bought my Father a model train like he had when he was a kid. To my surprise, his original one still ran. We cleaned it up and then sunk some money into more track and other engines and cars. We had intended to turn his spare room into a train room, but a lack of money caused the project to stall. Today I started restoring the 300+ track sections. Some of them have 70 years of rust and dirt. Maybe this will get the project back on "track". LOL

My dad totally went on a train kick too in about 1998 or so IIRC...Now he has a train room, but he only set them up about twice and then put them back away...

My Dad wanted a Marx train set like the one he had in the early 50s. We looked for one for a couple of years and ended up finding one at a local antique shop for a fair price. He still had his original and the cars for it, but no track or transformer. We just assumed his train was dead, since it hadn't been used in about 60 years. Turned out it just needed cleaning! It runs great and the smoker on it works better than the other 4 engines we have. I bought huge lots of track from ebay...

      RamrodHare

I got the track for almost nothing, since it was old and rusted. I soaked some of it in vinegar yesterday and cleaned it with a little wire brush. It's cleaning up really well. I'm rinsing it in baking soda and water, then drying it in the oven at 150. It's gonna take me a week or so to get through all of it.
