  1. I'm keeping an eye on this for sure.
  2. Grab a SaveKey. You won't regret it. There's a decent number of homebrews that use it. I feel it enhances the experience and adds to the fun. It keeps me interested trying to beat my earlier score. Plus it's awesome to be able to use what feels like a fairly modern "memory card" with a 2600!
  3. Might as well throw my opinion in. Go Fish, Space Cactus Canyon, Wall Jump Ninja, and anything by Darrell Spice Jr. (as Albert said.) I also advise getting a save key and any homebrews that take advantage of it. You might want to look into rebuilding your joysticks, if they haven't been already. It makes a HUGE difference.
  4. I'd advise against painting them. There are a lot of variables when it comes to painting plastics. Especially those that will be handled often. Gold or metallic paints are even worse. Some paints won't dry properly, some rub off easily. It's just too much of a gamble in my opinion.
  5. One thing is to organize your roms. There's plenty of ways to do it and it will make things much easier when you go to play a specific game. Also try not to add duplicate roms or a bunch of versions of the same homebrew. It will just clutter things up. There's a tool that works with your computer to alphabetically arrange your roms on the SD card. It's the only way to do it that I know of, unless something has changed in the past year. I've had my Encore for quite a while now and I'm still refining my rom set. Just don't wear yourself out. Add a few games at a time and just enjoy playing them. If you go overboard and add every game ever created, you'll spend all your time looking for something you want to play, instead of playing. Also, if you don't have a savekey, get one. Quite a few homebrews use them to save your score and some even save your game progress. Just remember to have fun!
  6. I like the simplicity of the graphics. It allows your imagination to run wild. I didn't grow up with the 2600. I started with the NES and worked my way up from there. Later on, I tried some older systems, eventually leading me to the 2600. Even though I wasn't born until 1978, I have a strong connection to the 70s. Hell, I had an 8 track player in my car in the late 90s, on purpose! I guess overall, I never grew up. I'm sure a therapist would have an explanation. Anyway, back on track, I still collect Transformers (just like some other members here). Something about them takes me back to a time when I was happy and the world was full of possibilities. I've also gotten hooked on antique train sets from the 50s. I wasn't around when they came out, but when I run them around the track, It's like I'm right there. So I guess the 2600 somehow takes me back to a time when things weren't as depressing. I can't really call it nostalgia, since I didn't have one as a kid, but it's somehow equivalent. It just gives me an escape from now, to a place where I'm happy.
  7. I have to agree with Osgeld. It has nothing to do with you being a woman or anyone being jealous. The fact is, you hijacked this thread and made it about you and promoting your show. In real life you may be a great person, but all I can go by, is what you typed. Calling people trolls and losers (not to mention the foul-mouthed name you called a fellow board member) because they didn't like how you hijacked the thread, is rather inappropriate and childish.
  8. I don't have my 7800 anymore, but that one does look different somehow.. maybe it's just my imagination, I'm not sure.
  9. I've tried quite a few different ones and in my opinion, you can't beat upgraded CX-40s. I rebuilt a couple with the Best Gold parts and they are amazing. I want to build a set with the new micro switch boards, but I haven't had the cash. I'm not a fan of the Wico stick either. I have built a few controllers from NES and Genesis gamepads. They work pretty well, but don't have the same nostalgia. I do have a few other customs in the works that might turn out to be decent and I've got some vintage controllers I need to mess with a bit more before I decide how I feel about them.
  10. Sorry, double post. My internet connection is acting up.
  11. I tried to PM you. It said you couldn't receive messages.?? I'd be interested in a Mork & Mindy decal. Just "MORK" in red vinyl about 4 inches wide, with the "O" being a cracked egg. It shouldn't be hard to google a picture of it or I can find one and post it, if that helps.
  12. It's might be possible to vacuum form them. If so, the production cost could be kept fairly low. I'm not 100% sure they could be done that way, but I felt it worth mentioning.
  13. I've tried quite a few controllers, but I still like my rebuilt CX 40s the best. My issue with my hands is likely arthritis.
  14. I'm much better at games now, but they don't hold my interest as long now. Partly because I'm just older, but I think some of it has to do with my hands hurting after a while. I just wish I had at least one friend who was willing to play Combat with me. I managed to get my father to play it a couple of times, but he doesn't like any type of game, at all. Never has, never will. My friends refuse to play anything that isn't PS3 or newer. I really need to find better friends. LOL
  15. I'm still alive. It's been over a year since I posted anything.

      Hi RamrodHare. That was interesting!

  16. I sold him a 7800. He made the payment quickly and all communication was great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy/sell or trade with him in the future.
  17. I can vouch for RockyRaccoon. He's a good guy to deal with. He now has a feedback thread.
  18. I've been using the ones from videogamesource. They seem to be very good quality. It's cheaper to get the entire kit that comes with the rubber boot, fire button and spring and a new set of screws, but if you just need the inner handle, here's the link. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Repair-White-Plastic-Joystick-Handle-for-Atari-2600-Joystick-Controller/172923039282?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140725133649%26meid%3De0bd765664e54fa2a1998f4bd0ee485b%26pid%3D100276%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D172387055329%26itm%3D172923039282&_trksid=p2060778.c100276.m3476 I've been very happy with everything I've bought from them.
  19. Some of you may already be aware of this, but I thought I'd take the time to post about it for those who don't know. The PSP is a really good handheld emulator system, but the cost of the Memory Sticks are a real pain. The Sony Memory Cards for the PSP are really expensive. Especially new ones. Most PSP games are rather large and having emulators with loads of games takes up space pretty quick too. If you already have a Sony brand 32GB card, I don't think my info will be of much use, unless you want a second 32GB card. OK, on to my point. There are white adapters that fit the PSP and allow you to use two micro SD cards at one time. After testing, I found this to work with two 16GB micro SD cards perfectly! Once formatted in the PSP, it sees it as a single card. I paid $4.19 with free shipping for the adapter on eBay and got a pair of 16GB Sandisk micro SD cards for $15 with free shipping. That means for a little less than $20, I now have a 32GB card in my PSP. I intend to try and test the adapter with larger cards as well, but for now, this is still MUCH cheaper than the Sony cards and works just as well. Another plus, is that most people already have some micro SD cards kicking around, since so many things use them now. That means you may only need the adapter. If you happen to have two 32GB micro SD cards, you could test the adapter with them. If it works, you now have a 64GB card for your PSP! A little more info on the adapter. It's white and says PhotoFast CR-5400 MS Pro Duo Dual Slot Adapter Micro SD HC. I've read on some forums that the newest PSP firmware (both factory and custom) allow the PSP to now recognize up to 256GB, but this adapter may not be compatible with micro SD cards bigger than 16GB each, which is why it needs to be tested. There's also a black adapter, but I'm not sure if it is any different, other than the color. The PSP can emulate almost all the older systems, so if you are going that route and only have an 8 or 16GB card, this is a cheap way to upgrade your storage capacity. I'll try to test it with 32GB cards soon and let everyone know if it works or not.
  20. Well, I've never done any business with him, but you really can't argue with that kind of feedback. Also, the link you provided throws out an error, so I manually searched for his items. It's possible that someone here has dealt with him, but if you are looking to get work done, that feedback says it all.
  21. Everyone has their own opinion of what looks good and what doesn't. Gold plating the switches sounds nice to me, but it's probably cost prohibitive. I think they are aluminum sleeves over a plastic switch, so you might be able to have them anodized with the color of your choice. Some people have managed to drill a hole in the end of the power switch and put a tiny LED inside it, which I think looks cool, but it weakens the switch. For my Vader, I drilled a small hole next to the power switch and put a color changing RGB LED in it. Now when it's on, the LED changes colors. You could mount an LED inside the case, near the vents and have it shine out through the vents, kind of like accent lighting. Depending on how good your modding skills are, you could also file out the ATARI logo on the front and place some frosted glass or sanded clear plastic behind it, then light it from inside with an LED. I think one of the color changing RGB LEDs would work great for that. One LED doesn't use enough power to need a separate power supply, you just add a resistor to the positive side of the LED and connect it to the 7805 regulator (which you should replace with a new one). You can get a complete refurb kit from console5.com. It comes with all the parts you need to replace, plus a few you don't. It's only around $12 if I remember correctly. Oh, you should also get the Best Electronics, Lifetime Gold PCBs for your joysticks. I'd also recommend new inner handles and rubber boots. I went all out when I redid my joysticks. I even replaced the fire buttons, springs, retaining rings and screws. I basically have brand new joysticks now. you can also buy rebuilt ones from Best Electronics, for about $15-20 than doing it yourself. Oh, if you haven't already, get a Harmony Encore cart. No more switching carts, just load the entire 2600 library onto an SD card and put it in the Harmony, then select the game you want to play from the list. It's the best investment I made for mine. Lastly, if you do an AV mod, don't go cheap. I've had horrible luck getting a cheap board that had decent video quality. Get a UAV board from Bryan here on the forums. It's the best video quality you can get for a decent price and the board looks nice too. Those kind you see on eBay for $10 or so are garbage. The UAV bypasses everything and connects right to the TIA chip, so you get a really clean signal. I think that's about everything I can think of, but if you have questions, feel free to ask. Most of us are pretty helpful.
  22. I edited this because I felt your comments didn't deserve a response, since all they did was imply that people who ask questions are idiots. Good night.
  23. I'm guessing that your 2600 is a "Junior", right? Black console with a silver metal nameplate across it? If not, what does it look like? Can you post a picture? It would help to know what your 2600 is, so we can be sure to give you the correct advice.
  24. I played it a few times. There wasn't any scrolling issues, but it was very difficult to make jumps. I would intend to jump once, but end up jumping twice, which would usually cause me to fall in a pit and die. I noticed a bug in the areas where the paths fall away as you run across them. on the high path, I went to the end and got the herb, but I got stuck in the wall and had to reset. Then a couple of games later, on the lower path, it fell away and dropped me on the bottom to the left of the herb, so I tried to jump over the the herb and hit the edge where the path fell away and got stuck in the wall there too. I also never got the fire button to work, I thought maybe I was missing something, but if not, that would be a bug too. Overall though, I'm liking the game. It looks great and I can't wait to play the finished version.
