  The movie had its US premiere on May 25, 1977. I'm not sure if it was known to be a smash hit on beforehand, or if RCA were very quick to act once the movie had been received.

  What is certain is that it was sold across the world on the S3 clones, and those games and systems were licensed from RCA.
