Recently bought this game.  I like it.

How did you buy it?  I don't see it listed as for sale anywhere right now?  Looks awesome, would love to buy it myself...

    **EDIT**

Nevermind, found it.  Was looking at the wrong page (new releases vs all releases)...

Just out of curiosity - why would you choose and SDrive-Max over a FujiNet?  As far as I know, the latter can do everything the former can (and more!), is cheaper, and has an ever-expanding feature set thanks to a certain rabid coder.  (Looking at you Thom ;-) )

I went to order a FujiNet the other day and found that they are not currently available, so figured I'd grab something else for now until they become available again.

  3. Looking at possibly purchasing one or both, but one thing I'm not finding in all my googling is how software is loaded onto either device?  Both use SD cards, do I need an SD card writer on my PC?  Or, can I load them with applications directly via USB from the PC?

There are multiple solutions to get this functionality on real hardware. You could try something like a Kung Fu Flash cart, which lets you store games in multiple formats (program, cart, disk images, tape images) on an SD card, and select what you want from its menu and run it. Or you could use an SD2IEC solution which lets you put whatever you want on an SD card and it plugs into the IEC (disk drive) port and the 64 sees it as a floppy drive. You load its menu program, and then you can navigate to what you want to run, select it, then go out to the C64 and load from it as device 8 like it was a real disk.

Both of these solutions are actually cheaper than a TheC64, if you could even get one. LOL

I'd looked at the SD2IEC stuff out there and wasn't impressed.  The Kung Fu Flash cart OTOH sounds like *exactly* what I want, but somehow I'd never run across it before!  Hope I can get one for NTSC still!

    **edit**

Ugh, sounds like NTSC is considered beta and may not work with some images.  I live on the wrong continent, the PAL people get all the good toys.  :(

I am sure it can be, software is software, right?  Anyone take theirs apart and have a go at installing other things?  Maybe I will buy one just to muck with.

I was kind of feeling the same, might as well get one to just mess around with.  Unfortunately though, I don't see them available anywhere at the moment...  Meh.  Well, I want to get some kind of adapter for my C128 so I can load games on it, maybe I'll put my time into researching that and see if I can find one.  It'd be more fun to play on the real hardware anyways instead of the repackaged emulator.

  6. I ended up getting my hands on a complete with box and manuals C128, so I'm good to go on C128 BASIC now!  An expensive way to get that info, but well, I also have real hardware to test on.  Hopefully some day I can find a way to save data though.  1571s seem to be hard to get at reasonable prices right now (and I don't trust ancient 5.25" disks anyways).  Anyone make a "FujiNet" style device for the C128???

Both my Haunted  House carts don't work properly in my 7800.  The eyes appear on the left side of the screen.

Oh, never heard of that one before.  My Haunted House cart works fine on my 7800.  I don't recall if it worked prior to modification, but definitely works post-Robot Tank mod.

  8. Just recently got my first.  Atari 600XL w/64K RAM upgrade.  Would LOVE to buy new cart games for it.  I've been very impressed with what I've seen from it so far as far as capability, but just disappointed that I'm not finding much software for it.  Seems like a great platform!

In Australia, Amiga 500's are going for $250.00+. If it's in a box it's $500.00+. Personally, I don't care for boxes.

I have mixed feelings about it having a box.  It's kind of cool to get to see an original box, but is then annoying to have to store the box...  Ultimately though I think it will be easier to sell it again down the road if I need to and make the next person happier if it comes with a box.

For the prices that C128s are going for, somebody could start making these again. I remember time when you could get these for almost nothing.

I'm not really sure what they're going for in general.  There's an awful lot of listings where people want absolutely crazy money for the condition they are in (more often than not broken in substantial ways), but those don't seem to be selling...

Except nobody used it like that back in the day. And that setup cost way more than what the vast majority of people were willing to spend on a home computer.

    You're comparing two different markets.

And lastly, I don't see anything in that demo that couldn't be done on other contemporary machines with similar specs.

Bits and pieces.  I remember SkyfoxII having really done a good job on the audio.  California Games blew me away by having 6 different distinct colors on screen in 320x200 mode.  I myself played around with the 160x100 16 color "mode"/hack and the 80x100 136 dithered color modes.  Good times, good memories.
