  1. Was just thinking about this some more. The carts I had the most problems with fitting in my 2600 were actually all Atari branded games. All with the flap on them (rather than exposed PCB). Always seemed like the flap just wouldn't want to open. I'd kind of forgotten as they work so much better on my 7800. It came back to mind though as the last AA order of mine was 2600 games and for whatever reason all of those are hard to fit on my 7800. They will work, but it takes a fair amount of wiggling around each time to get them to catch just right. Feels like the old 2600 issue back in the day, like the flaps just don't want to open. Strange as I have other AA 2600 games from before and they're all still just fine.
  2. So excited that they are finally shipping the carts. Makes me want to order a VCS as well, but I really don't know that I need yet another system right now... I do have one last HDMI port on my TV...
  3. Nice, thanks! How did you find that? I clicked on what seemed like every link I could find and could not get there. Bookmarking...
  4. I see atarixp.com now just redirects into atari.com. Kind of nice that they're rolling everything together, but those fun blog entries seem to have disappeared during the move unfortunately.
  5. Originally there weren't very many Points Of Interest on the World view. Then I got the big USA update and all of a sudden I had a bunch of POIs that I could go and check out. Well, for a few days. Suddenly while playing most of the POIs went away from that display. They still exist in the game if you fly there, but they no longer show up on the map and therefore it has become MUCH harder to find them (having to figure out a nearby airport, etc, instead of teleporting there). Is there a way to get those POIs to display again?
  6. Yeah, that's a hard no from me dawg... I'm not the target market anyways. NFTs are for the same rich people that buy old ugly paintings for millions of dollars.
  7. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. SuperCharger fits no issue. My Tigervision carts didn't though. Since I play them and am not a "collector" as such, I just used some small snips and I was able to clip off enough of the pegs for them to fit without having to crack the case.
  8. Awesome, thanks for the share! A lot of delays on this first batch. Hopefully the process will be pretty much ironed out now and subsequent batches will go smoother...
  9. Ouch, sorry, had one years ago and threw it away because it was so terrible in actual game play. Neat concept though.
  10. Countdown now running on Missile Command and Adventure, 3 days to go... Seemed really fast, but with an August ship date promised I suppose they need to get moving. First batch still says July shipment, but there's not much July left at this point...
  11. Is Pac-Man Collection going to be TIA sound or is the enhanced sound goodness planned for the cart version?
  12. We really have come a long way. When I look at income and prices for the bare necessities from back in the day I wonder how my parents did it as members of the middle class of the time. Nowadays even much of those stuck below the middle class have nice things that we couldn't even imagine back then. It's easy to get worried about inflation, but as a society we really do keep improving over time. Oh, and I still regret not ordering Aquaventure. Sigh. I see the next batch ETA is August, does that mean the July for the other pre-orders is still likely? Hoping so...
  13. Never heard of it before, but sad to hear it is going away. I understand very well though. I've been involved in multiple attempts to build forums that unfortunately never took off and just ended up consuming lots of my time anyways. Eventually it's time to just pull the plug on it.
  14. Prices are a little bit higher than I want to pay for games I already have, but if they were ones missing from my collection I'd probably jump on them.
  15. Following. I just picked up a C-128D that has this same issue with the internal drive.
  16. Thank you! I really don't have any interest in playing more than the handful of games I already have. I really only got the system for the new MS Flight Simulator and $10/mo is way too much just to play multiplayer. I guess I'll just stick to single player!
  17. I guess it can vary based on complexity and if it's open ended or time constrained. Dolphin is a great example of game I can put a lot of time into even though it's pretty repetitive. It does have some variation as the game plays to keep it interesting. Compare to games like Barnstorming (and similar) which I enjoy, but it's only a couple minutes of entertainment before I'm swapping out to a new cart.
  18. I got my CoCo 2 late in life. Great little system. Came with a whole bunch of add-ons. Was a lot of fun, it definitely had more potential than I had time to dig into. Sold it during one of my downsizings. So tempting to get another, but I don't even have enough time for the Atari 8-bit and C128 platforms that are my current focus...
  19. No? I don't know what that is. I'll go look it up!
  20. I ended up being able to verify that they are in fact triangle by finding eBay examples and zooming in. I was then able to get a basic six pack of triangle bits from Amazon for disassembly. Unfortunately, the slider switch is somewhat specialized in size and design. However, I was able to break it loose so it operates again, just the post is snapped off. I've been able to operate the game by jamming a screwdriver into the hollow left when the post broke off. I found that the game has a partial display failure. Non critical area (just part of the score that you can usually figure out anyways), but I'm not going to invest the time into a full repair due to that. I'll just keep it around for funnsies and use the screwdriver to activate it!
  21. Does look like a pretty good game. I really should have ordered it.
  22. I've got a couple games that support online multiplayer. However, if I try to select that option they both say that it's disabled in the system and I need to turn it on. If I go into the system settings, multiplayer is listed as enabled and available... Thoughts on what else might cause this?
  23. Looks like we have our answer. The ordering pages have been updated to list the items (not the company, I'll just head off the jokesters here ) as "sold out".
  24. Wow! Was shocked to find that the Mattel Electronics Football handheld that I thought had been discarded years ago was still in my Mom's garage! That's the good news. The bad news is that the always hard to operate power switch (3 position for Pro 1/Off/ Pro 2) snapped right off when I tried to move it. I'd like to at least turn this thing on to see if it still works/is worth salvaging. The case is pretty yellowed, but otherwise seems to be in good shape. The issue is that it looks like someone has tried to take it apart before as the screws on the back show some damage. Likely damaged from someone using the wrong screwdriver as they appear to be special. Perhaps a triangle or maybe a "Y" head on them? Does anyone know exactly what kind of screw came in these so I can obtain an appropriate screwdriver for a disassembly attempt?
  25. Very true. Live long enough and the things that seem so common they will be around forever are one day gone and you wonder when it even happened! Yeah, I'm real curious about the next 2 as well. Still looking forward to the 1 I ordered showing up, hopefully just half a year late.
