I have one unit that needs to warm up for about a minute before the screen comes to life. Need to replace caps on that model. My other units turn on in about 5 seconds i think.

Whats difference between commodore 64, amiga, tandy
Seob replied to icemanxp300's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Using screenshots from different systems was used a lot back in the day. Usual the system with the best looking graphics was on top or had the most screenshots. I own a Amiga game that is also compatible with the pc. Think it came with 2 disks. But the box clearly says for dos and amiga. -
Games that you just refuse to pay "market value" for
Seob replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Every mario or zelda related game. I really want to complete my cd-i collection with zelda adventure, but there is no way i'm going to pay more then 15 euro for it. -
A Commodore subforum on the horizon?
Seob replied to high voltage's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
I don't like the subforums. I hardly read the subforums, but when the info about a computer i don't own or that i'm not to familiar with is in the general forum i read it. -
Looking to purchase a Vectrex, have some questions
Seob replied to clinteastwood1955's topic in Vectrex
I have 2 vectrex, one works perfect, the other needs to warm up a minute before the screen kicks in. need to replace the caps on that one. but after it is on temprature it works great. make sure the brightness isn't set to high otherwise you can get white dot burned into the phospher. -
Your most MacGyver'ish moment with computers.

i made a photo frame from a broken laptop. I flipped the screen, had to extend the display ribbon cable and reversed the laptop so the back of the laptop was stuck onto the back of the screen. glued a photoframe to the bezel and installed photoviewer software to cycle through the photo's. -
A friend of mine had a ls120 drive. Always liked the concept of using the 3.5" format to store 120mb on a superfloppy while maintaining backwards compatability with the standard 3.5" 1.44mb disks.

Added Odyssey 2 Atari compatible Joy Stick Ports +
Seob replied to forrestsmith's topic in Odyssey 2 / Videopac
Can't do harm putting a original o2 joystick to a atari compatible ports. Ground isn't connected and a few other lines are different. Nice looking o2. -
Great system. Looks very nice indeed.

Consoles you just can't get excited about
Seob replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The cd-i had about 124 games, so i count it as a serious system, even if Philips never designed it as a game sysytem. -

If your tv supports ntsc it wouldn't be a problem. But why connect it first to a vcr and then to the tv? Why not connecting it directly to the tv.

Do I open it? Sealed Demon Attack for O2
Seob replied to ScottyDont00's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Guess you're better off selling your sealed copy and get a unsealed copy and some spare cash. That's why i don't buy sealed. I don't have to feel bad, if i open them up. I do have a few sealed games, most of them for the nokia ngage. But they are still sealed because i didn't have time to play them yet. -
Amstrad GX4000 - anyone spent any time with it
Seob replied to AtariORdead's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Bought one a few years ago. Only have 1 game for it, the packin game burning rubber. Would love to have more games, but they are to expensive. Love the design of the console. Always reminds me of a snowspeeder. -
Check the solder points of the rf box to see if there are problems with it. And try a different tv.

List of hardware bugs that affected consoles?
Seob replied to 7800fan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Didn't the original c64 sid have a few bugs? That where cleverly used by programmers to give the sid extra's. It was fixed in the later sid-2 giving it a different sound or stopped games from running. -
No, i don't think that there are any. You have to build on yourself http://musictechnologiesgroup.com/blog/?p=23

I also have a nms8250, with working diskdrive. I formatted a disk on the msx, then i put it inside my pc and put a diskimage of a msx game on it. Put it back in the msx and i can load games. But it all depends on the diskimage. Not all images will work.
-
Don't know how it is handeling sectors, so i cannot give a answer. You cycle trough the images using the buttons. I use a spreadsheat to keep track at what number a diskimage is stored.

Got it working. Had to set a few jumpers. Jumper 3 for setting it into 720Kb 3.5" mode. Jumper 5 for setting the ready signal. And Jumper 6 to get rid off disk offline messages after switching disks. It did work without setting jumper 6, but you had to type in files 2x to read the disk. The finished cable. The gnd's that wheren't needed on the 34 pin side i just cut off and put a shrinkwrap around it. The drive plate had to be altered also. Broke off the old taps that hold the drive in place since they where to narrow. I jut used professional double sided tape to fix the drive onto the plate. The jumpers that need to be set are unterneath the topcover. You have to unscrew the top to get access to them. Drive in place and hooked up with a usb thumbstick. I used the software that is available on the ipcas website: http://www.ipcas.com/support/usb-floppy-emulation-download.html to format the stick into 720Kb diskimages. Then i used the software to write *.dsk files to the different folders. The only thing i haven't fixed yet is the fact that it tries to autoload the first folder always. I tried to leave this folder empty but then my msx got into a booting loop. I now have a image into this folder that needs a 256Kb msx, so it boots, give a error that i have to little space, and than i can use the system. Loading a image is easy if there is a autoexec.bas in the selected folder. Just select the folder you want and press reset once. The system preformes a soft reset and starts booting the diskimage.

While we didn't have a computer or a console at home until i was about 13 or 14, i played a lot on the Philips Videopac, Atari 2600 and later on the Commodore 64, Philips MSX, Philips P2000 when i was younger at friends and family. I was mostly into PC gaming, but didn't collect yet. Then about 14 years ago, i walked inside a thriftshop and found a Intellivision. I never had heard of that console, so i bought it. Then i discovered that there where more consoles beside the A2600 and Videopac that i knew from memory. And so i started to discover the console and computers i never had seen when i was young.
