Also sold my small collection of laserdiscs because of bitrot. I really loved those big shinny discs. The artwork on those covers is just amazing. I kept a few disc to frame in. Makes great wall art.

Nope magnetic tape is one of the best storage solutions. Hence al the tapestreamers for backing up.If handled correct and used in a good deck, vhs isn't bad. I find it strange that a collector would say that collecting vhs is crazy. Some would say collecting videogames is crazy, and yet we do collect.

Some seem to forget that there is also a culture difference in using a credit card. A lot of European people haven't got a credit card. A lot of people over here are used to the fact, that can only buy something, when you got the cash at hand. It's starting to shift a bit because of the internet, but there is still a hugh difference. So that's why they may ask if you would hold on to an item until they get paid. For me that still doesn't make sence, if i want something, i only check adds and the internet, when i do have money for it. If i know i cannot spend extra cash this month, i don't look.

Oke let me be a bit more specific. There are a few "collectors" in my neighborhood that buy everything up, have a few guys that go to all the local fleamarkets and pick all the nice stuff, and resell or trade with other collectors for ebay prices and lowball you. I also trade stuff with other collectors, but i trade them for fair prices, that are way beyond the usual going rate. Maybe i'm stupid for doing so, but i hate it to lowball people.

You could download netflix from the Nintendo store, so why was it released on disc. If you cannot download the files, you also wouldn't be able to watch online content.

Indeed resellers are killing the hobby. I also hate it when they say the NES saved computergaming, without the NES we wouldn't play computergames any more. It may have had a big impact on the US market, but not in Europe.

With plays almost all amiga gamea i mean the classic ocs games. These are the games most people think of when talking about amiga games. The 1200 never had a great impact, most people by that time started to switch to pc. So very few exclusive games are available. I play most of the games on my cdtv since that is what i have setup. Just a plain cdtv, modded to accept normal atari style joysticks, and a switch to disable the cdrom bios to free up a little extra memory. I sometimes use my cd32 with a disk full of a500 games and a hacked a500 keyboard. I have a few 500's but i almost never use them. My 1200 sadly is broken.

Still recommend the a500 with 1mb. Plays almost all amiga games.

There are a few options for rewritable cartridges like: The c7030 by Rene7400 Then there is the Mateos rewritable cartridge. the multicart to get is the c7060 by Rene7400, but i don't know if it is still in production. To keep my collection within reasons, i only collect systems that came on the market in my country. To futher keep my collection from expanding to much, i try to collect anout 10 "must" have or exclusive titles that came out on those systems, complemented with the odd to good to not buy it offers. So i don't collect to complete. I also rarely buy homebrews, because i can spent money only once, and for 1 homebrew title i can buy a few other games. I'm aware that developers need to earn some money back from releasing homebrews, but i want to keep my collection "small" and time period correct. But i do have a softspot for late 70's early 80's homecomputers. My favorite homecomputer to collect for is the msx computer. Love the Konami games. I also have a softspot for underdog systems. Really love to collect for the cd-i, one of my favorite systems.

I also think the o2 is a bit underrated. Look at a few of the colorfull games Revival studio has put out, if the programmers back then had dived more into the hardware i think it could have been a bigger player on the market. More 3th party support would have been better for the console.

For the UK, i guess that would be the Sinclair brand with their lowcost computers and very good manuals.

Not even Atari/Sanyo was first. I also guess that neither Magnavox is, but they had the model 4305 in 1976 that had pong build in.

Well in the Netherlands we have the Royal family as our head of state. So every year we are celebrating his birthday. Today it's kingsday. A great day with lots and lots of fleamarkets. Usually i go to a few of them because it's the best day in the year to score great stuff in the wild. Today no exception. I wanted to visit 2 since we are on holiday, but the weather on our island was bad, so we traveled to the other island because it was dry there. Although there where only a few people putting stuff out because of the weather i got very lucky. One stand had a lot of cd-i stuff, and i finally got Zelda Adventure for 1 euro. All games where a euro. Sadly arcade classics is case only. But the rest is complete.

45 is high for sure, but you don't see them that much. Here in the Netherlands you see a lot of c64 and msx stuff, hardly any cpc464 (my first computer). The speccy did oke, but you don't see them very much. I could have had a better deal, but shipping or gas to pick the stuff up would make the difference less. I thought the case would also be a nice bonus. Couldn't find any info on the web about this one. The printer was included, the system works, looks like new. I think it is one of the 48ks with defective memory sold as a 16k. There is some poke test and the result of that test gives 127, a number related to those units. The microdrives where brand new and empty. Typed in part of a program and saved it to the drive. And it works without problem. I only have one problem. I was typing in a listing and there is a END statement that i have to type in, but i cannot find the right key combo. So any help with this is great.

Today i went to a local thriftshop and i noticed a nice plastic case with a very destinctif rainbow patern on top. I opened the case and there was a zx spectrum with interface 1, and a microdrive with 5 tapes inside. Picked it up for 45 euro.

Living in msx country. Hardware isn't very hard to come by. But games, espescially konami rom games, are expensive. But konami games alone are worth owning a msx. Most konami games started there live on the msx. The msx version of metal gear is beter then the nes version imho. Also castelvania, started on the msx as vampire killer.

Found this keyboard today at a local thriftshop. Sadly no system, could use a atari st. Picked it up since you hardly see any atari st stuff here.

I was really into flightsims back then. Played knigts of the sky heroes of the 357th and a10 for hours. Added a quickshot masterpilot to my pc when i came accross it back int the day, together with programmer and extra rom pack. Made me feel like i was really flying.
