  1. Most important is to check if the memoryupgrade unterneat the trapdoor has a battery backedup rtc. Many of these batterys are leaking and damaging the memory pcb.
  2. For file transfer from pc to amiga i use Amiga Explorer. Works good, but it is slow. I don't have a lot of issues with old floppy's. Allmost all of them seem to work. I only had a few disks that where bad. A hdd can be great if you have a game that uses multiple disks. So you don't need to swap floppy's. I like the sound of the floppy seeking and loading, but i'm going to get a gotek for ease of use, transferring files from pc to amiga. Maybe modding my gotek to produce loading sounds.
  3. Great scott, nice to see a review of these pretty unknow systems. Keep them comming.
  4. Traded a snes and nes for this. A commodore pc 1. Sadly the psu died moments before i had a chance to check it, but if i cannot fix it i can return it.
  5. I have a PAL unit and it has the exact same label. since you're label also has german writing on it i guess that either commodore used the same label for all their models or you're model is a PAL version.
  6. I replaced the onboard battery on my 80386 motherboard. The battery was still in good shape, not leaking, so i didn't need to clean and repair the board. I already added a 128mb DOM to replace the stock 120 mb harddisk. Also replace the diskdrive. It was working but the. 3.5" disks could not be ejected.
  7. You can plug a keyboard directly into the cd32. The port for it is on the side. U can use a a4000 keyboard right out of the box. Or you can hack a a500 keyboard to work with the cd32, like i did.
  8. A pc with a 3DO blaster add-on card, turning a pc into a 3do system.
  9. I used a thrustmaster topgun platinum with throttle stick, for flightgames, great combo. Together with my quickshot masterpilot.
  10. Modify both ports, even if you plan to play only 1 player games. Think that is easier and cheaper then using a switch.
  11. Haha, better looking is the a 1000, but the a 2000 packs more functionality. That's why i asked why he used the limited 1000 instead of the 2000.
  12. I also added a composite mod to my zx81, and had to cut down the keyboard ribbon since it was broken. The unit is working fine now. But my 16k expansion is broken. Would like to get a working on, since 1k is just to little memory. Don't want to go the zxpand way.
  13. Nice looking setup, just a question, why did you put the a1000 on the table instead of the a2000?
  14. Nice pictures, the room really match the computer. That is such a good looking computer.
  15. I loved games like The blues brothers Commander keen Rick dangerous Jazz jackrabbit Centurion Lhx A-10 tankkiller Street rod Need to dive into those dom's. I recently got a ibm model 30 286, without a harrdisk. Since this system doesn't have molex connectors, the only solution without hacking and not using a esdi drive, would be a isa ide controller paired with a dom or cf card.
  16. Guess at our age we start to get through the dreaded midlife crisis. Some will sell off everything, others will buy more. I have been downsizing, resizing my collection for years. First selling off old computers, then the older consoles, only to rebuy them later. That said i need to sell of some stuff, keeping spare systems can be usefull, but they take up a lot of space. So i need to check what still works, after that i will be selling of some a2600, videopac, c64, amiga, nes, snes and cd-i hardware. Recently i started getting back into retro pc gaming, but i need to downsize that as well, guess i collected around 10 pc's within a couple of months. There is stuff i didn't regret selling, since the money that i got for those systems was spent onto my 2 sons, and a ps3 that i play a lot. Rare stuff like my videopac game prototypes, a philips :yes, a commodore pet, philips p2000, laser 2001, comx35. It was kinda sad to let them go, but once i got the money i was over it. Other then selling of my spare systems, i don't think i will downsize my collection. Hope my sons will enjoy those systems, got to play some more games together with them, to generate intrest in them. As for buying games, i made a list of games for most off the systems i have with must have games for the system, that i like to play.
  17. The first cd-i player released was the cd-i 180/181/182 unit. Released in 1988 as a joined venture between Philips and Kyocera. The system is modular, the 180 contains the cd drive, the 181 is the controller and the 182 is the expansion bay, containing a floppy drive, scsi controller and ports. For cd-i operations you need the 180 and 181.
  18. There Was a test cart, the service test cart. Don't know if it is still available, but you could check the videopac forum thread about it. http://videopac.nl/forum/index.php?topic=2306.0
  19. If i'm correct you could hotswap games, but not totally sure. Think some of the contacts on the cartridge where longer to discharge electro static.
  20. Can only talk about the mage series, but i really liked them. Sure you only dodge the enemys, but you have to pick up items in the game to get further. Graphics wish they really look nice. But i like games where you shoot more then i like dodging so that's why i only have the mage serie. Ktaa is great. Other homebrews i cannot say, since i don't collect them.
  21. It was Nintendo who canceled the release of the cd add-on, after seeing that the mega-cd wasn't a big succes.Still think that the cd-i player is a great piece of hardware. It wasn't designed for games, but after the sales department noticed that the cd-i was sold more and more to be used as a games machine, they started to focus more on the gaming side of the machine and thus releasing the cd-i 450 and 550 models. They just shifted a bit to late to gaming. If they had focus more on it's gaming part and less on the multimedia part, i think they could have had more succes. When it was just on the market it was pretty powerfull, but by the time the focus was on gaming, the hardware was already a bit outdated.
