  1. My sidewinder forcefeedback pro stick has a usb to 15pin converter. Think it's only compatible with microsoft joysticks.
  2. I like the CD-i. I have a soft spot for systems that where the underdog. My collection of CD-i stuff contains: 1x Philips CD-i 450 1x Magnavox CD-i 550 1x Philips CD-i 470 1x Philips CD-i 210 1x Phiips CD-i 220 1x 22ER9011 CD-i mouse 1x 22ER9012 Kids Roller Controller 1x 22ER9013 CD-i Trackerball 1x 22ER9017 CD-i Touchpad (Gravis Gamepad) 2x 22ER9021 CD-i Gamepad 1x 22ER9020 Peachkeaper Gun 1x 22ER9042 CD-i KeyControl 1x 22ER9051 CD-i Thumbstick 1x 22ER9055 Cd-i Commander All cd-i players have a dvc installed. Plus the games 78 in total. (87 was a typo). So you can say that i'm addicted.
  3. I've been looking trough my stack of about 87 cd-i games, and the only games that support 2 player simultaneous are: International Tennis 2 player edition Micromachines Pac-Panic Solar Crusade Guess that two player gaming with micromachines and pac-panic is great, international tennis i don't know, and solar crusade is very expensive. So i guess it's worth only if you can get it cheap. What you could do, is to buy the 2 different versions of the gamepad that are available, so you can switch between the 2 controllers, depending on what gamepad fits you're hands better.
  4. Could be they where exported in parts to the usa, and then assembled there. Then you are able to slap a made in the usa label on the box. I know of a manufacturer here that makes every part here in Europe, then ships it to the usa. Flying European people in to assemble it in a factory in the usa. And he is allowed to sell it as made in the usa. Why?, just to avoid stupid lawsuits.
  5. Philips claimed that all software for the cd-i that has the cd-i logo on the disk, should be able to use on any system regardless of the region. Until now i think the only game having trouble with it is family games 2.I could supply you with a list of cd-i games i have for trade. Got a lot of spare games.
  6. just 20 km from the border. problem is that games are localized. most pc games in the netherlands back then where english, while in germany you would likely have a german based game. Also some games where altered because of german law. Like wolfenstein.
  7. Nice find. I have a few games for trade. Have to look what games, though, but i guess about 15. But i don't know if they run on us systems.
  8. Grim fandango alone would be great to find at 20 dollar. Would love to find such a great find. Some nice games for my collection.
  9. Love Beos. Bought the retail boxed version of beos 5 back in the day. Great speed, and multitasking. To bad i got rid of my dual p2 and my ppro systems. Would be cool to run it on those systems. My username is based on beos.
  10. Indeed just for the easy use of older software. And because i have the space for it. If you don't have space, one is enough. But you have to fiddle a bit to get older software to run playable. For instance i'm running commanche on my p100, but it's running a bit to fast making it more difficult to play.
  11. Back then i stopped lending games to other people, no matter who it was. I once lent my gamegear out, and got it back with a big scratch on the screen. On a other occasion i got a the game with a broken box back. Somehow people aren't carrefull with stuff if it isn't theirs.
  12. I have 2 retro pc's i currently use. For early dos games until 96/97 i use a pentium 100, 32meg ram, 1mb pci vga card, a logitech soundman wave (until i get a working sb 16/32 awe) and a gravis ultrasound max. Later games that need win95 i use a pentium 233mmx, matrox g200 2mb, 3dfx voodoo2 12mb, and a opti soundcard. As a display i use a sony lcd monitor. This hasn't given me any issues running dos games. It has a 4:3 screen ratio, that i think is a must have. In most cases tv screens aren't the best choice because they cannot display every screensize. For win 95/98 a pentium II 233 would be nice, in combination with a bx chipset mainboard. Soundcard doesn't really matter because of directx. Back then i used a sb live, it's a nice card and not very expensive. Guess for video a geforce graphicscard would be nice.
  13. The soundman wave uses a opl4 chipset.I'm currently bidding on a sb awe 64 gold. Hope i can get it cheap. My sb 16 i currently own doesn't work. Driver isn't able to find the card.
  14. I often use vogons. It's a great source for classic pc gaming. Also a great source for drivers for the more obscure soundcards. Found my logitech soundman wave drivers on vogons.
  15. I had use a few quickshot joysticks, both analog and digital before i bought the gravis pad. I really liked it for use with platform games. For flight games i used a quikshot analog joystick and later a thrustmaster topgun pro. For racing games i used a digital edge f1 sim compact. A nice steering wheel although the pedals where of lesser quality.
  16. Ah my bad, got confused with the mixed talking about the sepctravideo and the msx later in the thread.
  17. Cannot agree with that. There is enough exclusieve software for the system, also the system is the birthground of a lot of great games. Aleste Antarctic Adventure Penguin Adventure Athletic Land Bomberman The Castle Castle Excellent Daisenryaku Dragon Slayer IV: Drasle Family Eggerland Mystery (This game and its MSX sequel were the first two games in the Adventures of Lolo series) Golvellius The Goonies (Substantially different from the two NES games) Gradius 2 (Known as Nemesis II in Europe, unrelated to the arcade Gradius II) Gofer no Yabou: Episode II (Known as Nemesis III: The Eve of Destruction in Europe) Herzog Kings Knight King's Valley Knightmare Knightmare II: The Maze of Galious (the game that inspired La-Mulana) Knightmare III: Shalom The first two games in the Metal Gear franchise Metal Gear (before it was "ported" to the NES) Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Parodius (Yes, it started out on the MSX, not with the arcade game Parodius Da!.) Payload Princess Maker Puyo Puyo (Again, predating the more popular arcade game) Roller Ball Rune Master Snatcher SD Snatcher Space Manbow Uncharted Waters Undeadline Uşas Xevious: Fardraut Saga Yie Ar Kung Fu 2 Zanac Source http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/UsefulNotes/MSX?from=Main.MSX In the Netherlands MSX was pretty big, also due to the fact that Philips a Dutch based company jump onboard on the msx standard. I have 4 msx machines 1 philips vg8020 msx1, a philips vg8235 msx2 360kb floppy, a nms 8250 msx2 with detachable keyboard, and a nms 8245 msx2 model that i modded with a usn floppydisk emulator. Other msx machines that where available on the Dutch market and sold pretty well are the Sony Hit-bit msx computers. Also Toshiba can be found here. In Korea they made a console version of the msx1, called the zemmix. They had a few different versions.
  18. to bad i cannot come. anyways welcome in the netherlands. hope you enjoy the stay.
  19. Here is my current setup. Now playing comanche. But i'm also a fan of adventure games. The machine on top is my P100 32mb ram 1mb ark2000pv pci videocard, logitech soundman wave and gravis ultrasound max, 1.2 gb hdd 3.5" diskdrive and a zip 100mb and 8 speed cdrom. Bottom pc is a p233mmx with 64mb ram, a matrox g200 and 3dfx voodoo II 12mb. Opti soundcard. Hdd and cdrom i don't know size and speed. For flightsims i use a quickshot masterpilot so i don't have to memorize keyboard shortcuts.
  20. The odyssey2 can be modded with atari compatible joysticks very easy. I have 8 g7000 systems and only one has broken actionbuttons.
  21. Think on the mac cd-i dv was supported on os's before os X. read somewhere that after they started to use a 32bit mscdex in win 95, support for green book video was dropped. You should be able to run it on an old pc using xing mpeg player or a dedicated mpeg hardware card.
  22. The m2 is that a toploader or frontloader? To bad they never released it.
  23. The only vcd you don't want to buy is the hunt for red october. It's the worst possible version of any vcd movie. The compresion they used is so high most of the time you'll be looking at screens futuring less then sega cd video quality
