Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
woobman replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
I had an Amico-less weekend. started to catch up late yesterday. Wow. We were treated to (maybe) angry people possibly trolling us. Not sure if they like to to torture themselves over semantics or what. With the hours of interviews out there. All completely off the cuff. I'd expect to have a few flubs throughout. How hard is that to process? I'd assume that someone will be offended at any type of brevity anywhere any more. It's the sad state of comedy these days. Until we get the press releases and info in our hot little hands, I don't take anything Tommy says as a contract to make it happen. Although I don't doubt that the Amico will deliver the games. Including games that have been requested and acknowledged. Wouldn't that be something? If you don't want to buy an Amico, or don't have a genuine interest in it, why come here? I want THAT MUCH TIME to devote to endlessly pick nits on a particular product. Especially if we don't have a full picture yet. I guess some people have a need to have the last word on everything. No matter how much people try and clarify. To cap off the weekend we got to learn about Butt Pinball on the Switch. (That is what I'm calling it anyway). While not a prude, I'm no perv either. Odd that Nintendo wouldn't put blood into games for a long time. But now.. Slice as many things in bloody detail as you want. Use the touch screen to really touch things... EWwwwww. I can respect Tommy for drawing that line. In the meantime, we got a press release. AND the promise of more to come. Not to mention more fun videos throughout. Wow what a weekend!!!! -

I have a version of Tempest on just about every system released. I've even played some of the games that were obvious clones. I can say if the controls are done right, no matter what, it will be a fun game. You can tell the difference between the controls on Tempest X3 for the PS1 and Tempest 4000 on the PS4. Not just the graphical upgrade. Heck Even with that horrible controller on the Nuon, I still enjoy Tempest 3000. For those of you who have been here a while, I sound like a broken record. I even purchased the Replicade Tempest Cabinet. Much better than the original Arcade 1up. version. Each one of those versions would have been better with a spinner. The replicade is spinner "like" but it's clicky style rotary control, not free spinning. So I'm looking sooooo forward the "something special"!!! -

But remember kids, if it's in his notebook. It's going to happen. If it doesn't Tommy has lied to us again according to some people. Wait one moment. Need to sip my Tommy T Kool-aid and Put on my Schill-shoes and dance too his music. Literally. (Not a pretty site). Love this BTW!! But seriously, there are a few things on there that I'd really like to see happen. I don't think I've seen Zaxxon mentioned much. Sooo One vote for Zaxxon. There are many people here with Tron references in their profile pic. I'm one of them. So yes to Tron. -

@Tommy TallaricoI just re watched the Amico reveal trailer. I haven't heard much, lately, about the onboard interactive lighting effects on the Amico. Was it really October 2018? Wow doesn't seem that long ago. What games will be taking advantage of the feature? Can you say anything else about how it will be used? If your lips are sealed for now. No worries. Never hurts to ask. -

I like the idea of a pre-order. On the day of release, it's installed automagically. -

Or on a nice T-Shirt with Box Art. Wouldn't That Be Something,The Game. The pic on the box is a bunch of Easter eggs/hints as to what would be something. -

There has been some speculation and anticipation on what the physical media would look like and how it would work. I have my theory that we already know and Tommy has given us the clues in his many interviews as far as how it works. As we don't know.. I had a new one cross my mind: We could use the USB ports as cart slots. The result would be something like this but with an Intellivision cart casing on it: Probably not. But always fun to speculate. All the casual gamers will digital download. The hardcore collectors will end up buying a mixture of Digital and physical media. Everyone will have to clear space on the shelves!! -

ETA Prime doesn't really do interviews, but he does have some great videos and he does like retro. I think a chat between ETA/Tommy would be a good outreach. Zero Marketing Dollars spent. I don't think he has said anything in any of his videos about the Amico. Plus 450k subscribers would send some positive vibes out there. Probably give some additional subs for the OEB, Atari Creep and the growing voices. I'd add to that list: LON TV and Leo Leporte over at TWIT. Both would be good as well. Leo has a ton of many industry people on his various shows. Not really into the gaming space, but the word of mouth to all the non-gamers would be fun to see. And a big thumbs up for a Retroflag Intellivision Case! -

Just re-found this game and tried to play it. My Windows 10 i7 with Nvidia card doesn't seem to like it. It is VERY choppy. I know it's a long shot as this is semi obscure. It's been years since I've tried to play it. I remember it being a little slow. But not like this. Any hints? -

The microvision fell to the great purge of my childhood. My parents decided that I was too old for handhelds and other things so I had to give away: Microvision (with 5 games if I remember) , Merlin, Space Battle, Auto Racing, Football, Armor Battle, Coleco Baseball, Donkey Kong, a few of the Early Nintendo game and watch handhelds, and while not a handheld: Star Trek Phaser Battle. All my Lego space stuff. And for the collectors out there, I was VERY meticulous and kept all the boxes to the Lego and Handhelds.. The pain!!! The Horror!! I'm still scarred... Ha ha! -

For you DC fans.. I've been seriously thinking about getting the Retrofighters "StrikeDC". https://retrofighters.com/our-collection/strikerdc-dreamcast-controller/ They also make an N64 controller. I got used to the weirdness of the N64 controller. Still fun to use. Just odd. Some of the other posts mention controllers that you purchase separately, but little remember the Nuon pack in controller.. Look at it in all it's glory! Nope that is not streteched out or photoshopped in any way. Yes, it's as uncomfortable as it looks. I still play(ed) Tempest 3000 on it for HOURS. A fun game can overcome a bad controller. I had a logitech controller for the Nuon, but it died a horrible death. That was better. But still clunky compared to others out there. Even the N64 looking controller for the Nuon was a bit odd. Never got one. -

Not a salesperson or Government official but coming from a transplant of the San Francisco Bay area: It reminds me of the Valley in the early 80's. Lots of startups. Some of the bigger well known companies moving out here. There is even a few divisions of an electric car company here. All this and indoor plumbing too. -

Come over to Utah! We will be in the Yellow Zone on Saturday. (Except for a few counties and cities). A quick road trip out here to do some testing and as a bonus the Police won't break down your door and fine you! -

Congrats on the announcement Tommy!!! I too had a feeling that it pointed to J! I know it's early in the morning, but I have my popcorn ready to read/hear how this doesn't matter. Amico is doomed. And why is Earthworm Jim going to be just Mini Games?!?!? Welcome aboard the fun train J!!! Enjoy the ride. -

I can understand his argument in some ways. The price has gone up. Yes. The ballpark was 149-179. I honestly thought it would end up $199.00 when all is said and done. When I heard they changed to capacitive touch screens in the controllers, I knew for sure it would go up a little more than that. Plus the onboard storage is going up. Either 32gigs on board or 16 gigs and an SD card. Possibly tripling the original amount that was going to be in the system. My guess is that the CPU/RAM configuration probably changed between then and now, after some extensive research and interviews with developers. We've never been told much about that aspect. Just that it will play fun games. After adding all that up and tossing in the world situation on top of that. I still think it's a fair price. Will I be able to play the new Mircrosoft Flight Sim or the next Uncharted on the Amico? No. If you believe what we've heard, you will not be able to play the new Earthworm Jim on the xbox Series X or PS5. I'm sure that there will be other games that will be exclusive. Not just versions with different levels. Maybe even a game that stars a certain Reeses Pieces eating alien. I can also understand the want of a Switch. There are some amazing games on that system. My family loves our Switch. I don't think anyone believes the Amico will replace any of the main gaming systems. The Amico will compliment them. I can also sort of understand the argument about the power vs price. I just checked Best Buy, and for the same amount of money that you can purchase a Switch, if you can find one, you can get an Xbox one X. WAY more powerful. But Power does not necessarily mean more fun or a better system. We've seen it proved after multiple systems have sold more than their more powerful counterparts. In the end, a lot of the people on the forum have been sold on the games we've seen already. Some of the hints given as to other games that will come out. Tommy's direct Answers to us. A few of his hints that made us all ask the question that echos throughout these pages: Wouldn't that be something? For me I was sold because he answered my question directly: Tempest and Adventure will make their way to the Amico. I know it won't be right away. But the thought of both of those games on a new system makes me happy. If a system has a game coming out that really captivates you. That is reason enough to buy that system. For Some it's a Mario or Zelda. For others it's Halo. Still others it's any one of a number of system sellers. I would say you can add Shark! Shark!, Moon Patrol, and others yet to be announced for the Amico. -

36 Channels. What could you fill that with? I had to go to RadioShack. Route cable in, over, under, and around things so the remote could be close to Mom and Dad. And I still had to change the channel on both TVs! No wonder I was thin. Right there with you 1980gamer, what I'd give to go back there and do that for them again! Lost Mom in 94. Lost Dad in November. But I do have two awesome kids that love games! They will have to fight for the consoles when it's my turn to Level up!
