Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
woobman replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
Portable Amico?!?! I think it could be called the Amico Turn... Amico Trigger.. Switch seems to be taken by some other company. Wait.. I know its the super secret HECKtrex. OR the other plans of making the included controllers into the TTAVR.. The Tommy Tallarico Amico Virtual Reality system. Wouldn't that be something? All product names are given to @Tommy Tallarico freely, as a fan, to KICKSTART a fund for his next red sports car. Maybe this one will be electric? -

Carvel!!!! That sends back memories. There was one not even a 1/4 mile away from me when I lived in Ct! I tried a Carvel cake that they sometimes have at the local walmart.. Not the same. My local Carvel turned into either a dumpling house or a "Puff City" smoke shop. These are sad times. But I think I can get through them. sniff sniff. -

Wow Xanadu reference.. A guilty pleasure. And I cannot explain why I like it so much. Does anyone have any guilty pleasures with any bad movies or games out there? I'll Start - Movie - I like both versions of Overboard. - Double whammy there. I could go on. I like LOTS of bad movies. Game - Many Many... I'll give you two - Superman for the 2600. Or Way of the Warrior for the 3DO. -

I remember back in the late 80's when a mostly comedic actor was picked for a certain movie about a dude with a black cape and a cool car. EVERYONE complained about the casting. Until they saw the movie. Then he became that Character. Others have worn the suit. But only a few could, arguably, be that character as well as he was. Same with his arch rival. A few people have tried.. Some worked well. One not so good. A while later, a certain former teen actor that had a checkered past was picked for a main role in a set of marvel-ous movies. (sorry about that). 20+ movies later you cannot think of anyone else wearing his outfit. What I'm saying is that don't knock it until you try it. If you had the opportunity to see something prior to everyone else and give a passionate, informed, even negative opinion on a product. DO IT. Negative opinions are crucial in making a product better. Being negative, just to be negative, ruins credibility for you. If the final product sucks.. If the controller is uncomfortable to use.. If the games aren't fun. We'll be the first to tell when we get our pre-orders. Or return it after we get. I very much doubt that it will be the case, but it could happen. -
Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

At my old job, I used to bring my older machines into work for "Retrogaming Fridays". Whenever the Jaguar came with me. Tempest 2000 would be played above all the other games. You get used to the controller. It becomes second nature. When the Nuon came in, they would all put in T3K . Same with that Batwing controller for T3K. You got used to it. My logitech controller died within a few months of getting it and I never got another. Both versions are great games and worth the price of each system. Same for TxK for the Vita. And Temest 4000 for the PS4/XbOne. I do have to pick up a copy for the XBone. I would like to try each of them with a Spinner though.... That would be amazing! That begs a question: Any chance of Specialized controllers for the Amico Tommy? Like a Spinner? Trackball? Light gun? Steering wheel? Steel Battalion controller? OK that last one may put the game slightly over the $10.00 mark. -

If the Nuon came out a year or two earlier, as it should have, I think we'd have a slightly different video game landscape now. Although we don't see it in any of the released games, it could Ray Trace way back in the late 90s. I lived near VM labs in California. Got to see a few demos. The offices were a small hop skip and a jump away from my favorite Tower Records. I understand that the Series X is backwards compatible with all the old Xbox games. If so, I'd dust off my copy of Crimson Skies for the OG Xbox. If needed, I can use my Duke controller to block the sun on bright days. Use it for Shelter. Probably lose the Amico under it if I set it down on top... -

I think your math is a little off. But in a very generous way. Day one switch games still go for almost day one retail. 1-2 Switch. (Fun but underrated) goes for just under 50. Zelda. is still 60. But you need another 20 if you want the pass. New Super Mario Bros is still 60. Same with Mario Kart. Not all couch games. But most multi player. Even Arms for the switch. (2 player) still goes for 56. All of these prices are new. (Digital and physical). I know you can get them used for a few dollars less. There are special editions of just ONE game on some of the systems that cost 1/2 to 3/4 of the Amico. I know physical editions are planned of some games. I think that some SUPER Special Editions of games would warrant more money. I've expressed what I'd like to see if ET ever comes to the platform. You know I've heard a rumor about that it might be happening. Wouldn't that be something? I'm sure that if we ever get super special editions of games, they won't be $150.00. All of the above games are fun. So far, not all of the Amico games are my cup of tea, but dropping 7-10 on a game that I'm sure of is much easier than dropping 40-60 for something I'm not totally sold on. With Tommy's track record of games, I think that this is a safe investment of my time in these forums AND when it hits my doorstep, I can finally play them with the family. I can see myself (and family) trying games that we'd not normally try just due to price point. Even if the system turns out to not sell, but I end up with a decent amount of real fun games. I'll be VERY happy with that. If there aren't that many good games... And I'm out 300-500.. That's OK too. I'm sure that even if I end up with all "Retro Re-Imagined" games. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy. I have a Nuon (OK 2) and Tempest 3000 made the system worth it. So I think we are in SAFE (sorry Tommy) hands. I am also sure that we will get a bit of (almost) every type of games as time goes on. Quick pick up games. Fun Party games. Fun one player(and up) games. Adventure games. (Including Adventure). Arcade. ETC. Fun times are ahead for everyone! For all you nay-Sayers out there, healthy skepticism is great! It will keep the Intellivision team on their toes. Complaining how something sucks before laying your hands on it is something else entirely. I do realize that most of those types have been just trolls... That's OK. Those concerns get answered too. There has been more transparency with Tommy in the last month than another up and coming platform has had it's entire span. That alone makes me think that the system will be worth it. I could go on, but I'll stop for now. Looking forward to the next round of info!!!! -

Great Video! I seem to remember, one of HSW's prerequisites for doing the game was to meet and have Steven Spielberg sign off on it. Not to mention a Dev station at home. AND some serious $$$$$. I just wish that Alamogordo would go back and dig some more up so we can buy a copy that doesn't have the eBay 700% tax. Someone went through and had a good examination of the game. "Fixed" the errors. Try playing it in your favorite emulator. Or the Retron77. Here is the link: http://www.neocomputer.org/projects/et/ -

I didn't see this video posted here prior. If I missed. Sorry for the double posting. This came into my feed this morning. Can't seem to escape Alton Brown, Bon Appetit, Amico, and new shocking Tiger King Revelations. Food, fun, and I don't know what to call that last category. -

Ahhh a certain actor got a good role in a DnD Satanic Panic movie - Mazes and Monsters. My mom had me see a Dr. at one point when I played it like 2 times. If you haven't seen this.. I'm sure it's somewhere on the interwebs. Tommy you are promoting this stuff!!! Get those demons off me!!! -

I want a Willy Wonka game... And each physical copy of ET have a little bit of Dirt from Alamogordo.. I mean.. Wouldn't that be something if that game were to happen? I'd even pay extra for a Howard Scott Warshaw signed copy! Or a two pack of Yars Revenge and ET... Or shooting for the sky's here: Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Trifecta of HSW. I happen to be wearing the shirt below when watching the interview. -

Forgot to mention that I was order 1883. Work kept getting in the way of way more important things so I wasn't as low of a number as I wanted to be. Looking up the year in Wiki I found that Krakatoa erupted. Timezones were standardized across the US and Canada because of the Railroads. The Brooklyn Bridge opened to the public. (only took 13 years to build). Wow, not much has changed if you ever lived in the Bay area.. The Bay Bridge took 24 to rebuild half of it. - Not construction. Remember, it took time to decide on such things as: Design. Deciding if it should have bike paths. What the environmental impact of a bridge in that area would be. Raising the tolls to pay for the retrofit. THEN construction. Sometimes I feel old. But on a bright note 2020 will be the year we get back to family fun! I cannot wait for the next round of info on the Amico! Tommy, please keep giving us a great place to go for fun and information! -

It is good. In a twisted way. Even if you are so so through the first episode, by number 2 it will suck you in. Each one has it's twists and turns. They set you up clearly for a 2nd season. Half of me wants you to license the Tiger King game for the Amico. To see what you could do with it. The other half has to scrub himself off Karen Silkwood Style. Purchase it with a gift card. Hope that it's a one player only game. Then not tell a sole that I purchased it. THEN hope your servers are that secure and you don't sell that info... If that isn't an endorsement, I don't know what is. What I'm saying is: watch it. -

Um yes... Please... I'll sign up now! My Vectrex dies after 5 minutes of using it. It's sitting at a friends house, He fixes these sorts of things. Full Disclosure, it's been sitting at his house since the PS3 was a new console. Not sure if he knows where it is. But I still have quite a number of carts! Including an original Multicart. I would love to see what Tommy could do with the Vectrex!!!!! Classic mode.. Full Color mode. TOMMY MODE!!!! -

Another fun game!!! This did not seem like my type of game. But now that I see you play it.. YUP... I'm all for it! Another fun one. Also have to say that Missile Command for Amico does seem to be a better playing game than Recharge. As I have not played either one, I will reserve judgement. As should we all. Even the games that don't really interest me look like they'd at least be fun to play. Looking forward to more info!!! Physical games... Physical games... Physical games... Want more info on... Thanks again for keeping this forum fun Tommy! -

I was going to ask where was the 20 minute video on the Amico storage subsystem? Or the discussion of a Teraflop isn't a Tearaflop? We needed more of that in the 3 minute video.. LOLS.. I did enjoy the Sony video.. But just like xbox one.. I can see spending more on storage for those machines than my new Amico and all of the library of games.
