  1. Yeah combat takes a while to get the hang off, but it's pretty cool once you level up a bit. Using the D pad to issue commands to your squad didn't do much for me, but using the right and left bumpers to pause the action to switch weapons and use the equivalent of force powers is pretty useful. Just finished Noveria. I can't remember the last time I played a Role Playing game and felt I was ACTUALLY Role Playing.
  2. Artlover, the OP means the freedom to explore the small planets even if they are limited, doing things out of order and all the optional side quests. It's not strictly sandbox like say GTA, but we all know what he meant. Look at the above quote. But yeah I agree it's not strictly sandbox, but all the optional stuff makes it more that just choosing the order... If you don't like the game I can see that it isn't for everybody, but I am really enjoying it. So I went back to the Ice Planet when it had previously defeated me. Having completed the other two initial story missions and a bunch of the planets, I walked back into that combat situation, Persuaded a few to leave, then basically shot down the bad guys with the pistol sans cover like the main hero in a cliche western. It was totally awesome. It is weird that this is the 2nd major mission about a corporation playing with alien stuff for profit and it subsequently going awry. I hope this isn't a theme...
  3. OK, I am through with Space Giraffe. Done. I was on board with it being a quirky title that required some time investment, and I though I had gotten the hang of it up to say level 33, but soon after it just throws too much crap at you. It's a shame because there is a great game in there, but it's buried in too much visual noise... Maybe the PC version is the way to go...
  4. Hi there, It's been too long between updates, but Eric and I are back with another issue of le geek. http://www.abscape.org/legeek This month, I review Halo 2 on the Xbox as well as Joust and Space Invaders on the Atari 7800, and Eric reviews Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for the Sega Master System, Mario's Tennis for Virtual Boy and Pac-man on the G1 Android. Cheers, Ben

  7. Glad the US Wii is finally getting C64 goodness!
  8. Mass Effect when I have the time. This game is pretty great.
  9. I gave the Halo Wars demo a go, and liked it. Controls were well designed with the 360 controller in mind, but I did want to know how to break apart my units. I wouldn't pay full price for the game (I am a cheap bastard), but can see picking it up at around $40...
  10. Late to the thread, but very glad that you are recovering at home! Cheers, Ben

  12. Glad to see third parties getting serious about "real" games on the Wii.
