  1. If I'm not mistaken, as part of the new update, there is a way to opt out of this type of monitoring that actually defaults to off. I'll check it again when I get home, but the only thing I remember being turned on by default is the ability for friends to video chat. Pretty sure this was under the My Xbox tab/blade/whatever they call it now.

  2. So to clarify...The modded saturn I have is an american black system and it plays backups from cd....they appear to be ntsc whatever the case. I also have some japanese real games and they seem to play fine..so do I need to keep the modded system? Probably not really, but I was looking to see why I have more than one Saturn...no need really I am sure...

Interesting. I didn't think there were any chips that did the region fix, but maybe there are. If that's the case, there's probably not much reason to keep the jpn system.

But you could buy a couple of Netlinks, a phone emulator box, and the Netlink games for some network fun!

  3. Start with a volt meter. Check that you have voltage leaving the main power block in the bottom of the cabinet. From there trace up to the ARII board. Check the outputs of that board for the correct voltage. If you are still good check the voltage on the main centipede board. I believe there are some spots labeled on the board for the purpose of checking that voltage.

Those ARII boards go out a lot and the good thing is you can get a working one for under $50. I would get the game board working and at least playing blind before you replace the monitor since you said it seemed to have power.

This. Also, Atari boards of that era have cheap sockets on them, so a lot of times, just replacing the sockets will help move you along in fixing a board. But ensure you have proper voltages first as that will help isolate the problem.

  4. By the way, though the site appears to be incomplete, this is a great example of a proper list of consoles. I love this site.

Yea, we're still working on getting all of the reviews done. It tends to take a while since we all try to play as much of the library as possible before making judgements. Or at least try the big name titles that we can. I'm knee deep into the CPS Changer right now, but it's slow coming as my free time is pretty limited right now.

But we certainly like to hear that people enjoy our work!

  5. I've got probably 40 or 50 of the more common games. Mostly boxed, some complete, some loose. I don't have a list handy, but if you are interested I'll dig them out.

  6. Same here, have 2 previous 1541Us and received my II last week. It's a thing of beauty! The II should be able to do Jiffy custom rom now, no? Haven't tried it myself yet though.

Hmm... maybe I should sell one of the 1541Us now that I think about it. :D

There appears to be a bug in the routine to use a custom 1541.rom file. Not a huge deal, but a temporary annoyance.

I've thought about selling one of mine as well. They seem to hold their value pretty well. Just not sure which one I'd let go!

  7. For just pure game playing, which is the best Amiga? I assume it's the 1200 since it has AGA.

    Tempest

Depends on what you want to play. Some older games have issues with the AGA chipset/faster processor of the 1200/4000. The degraders mentioned above can help, but not always.

To be fully covered, a 500 and 1200 would serve you well, but it's also a hassle to swap them out. In all the years I ran Amiga exclusively, there was very little I wanted to play that required the AGA and most AGA games had an ECS/OCS version as well.

  8. I myself thought, they would go for around $400 each with the proper BIN Auction. In WK's defense He has been in the Gaming community a long time and has to have some love for the hobby. Who cares if he bought those adventure visions to resell. I would have paid $350 for the pair. Would I have kept them, probably. If I had switch gears in a year and wanted to get a car,I would have flipped them. AS far as the CC is concerned he learned from our Wisdom and now has brought a more reasonable price of $350 to the table. A bit to much for me, but you never know. HHW

I thought they would hit about $500 for the pair. The last loose one I bought was $60 shipped, so that puts them sealed at about triple what I paid on the open market. There's no real science to my math, just a gut feeling I had. There's just not the market for Adventurevision stuff and they seem to come up 2-3 times a year. The key to these (as a buyer) is patience.

Regarding WK, I agree that he clearly has a love for the hobby and I think that's great. There's not too many people out there that are willing to even consider spending the money it takes to get things like an AV or Colorvision. It's a much different group than the 2600 or Nintendo collectors and we all know they don't do it for the great gameplay these systems provide! Where the problem seems to lie is that his enthusiasm seems to cause, let's just call it overly optimistic pricing estimations when he is selling. Couple that with a tendency to expect other high end items to go low and it looks a bit suspect.

He may truly just be the type of person that switches gears a lot, but from what I remember reading from him when he acquired these 2 games, I don't think that's the case. He was truly excited to have them and I rarely see people that speak about a collectible the way he did end up selling it so quickly after buying them, barring a catastrophy. Again, I could be completely off base here and I in no way meant to attack him personally, but from my persepective and based on his past actions, it looks fishy to me.

  9. I expected the sealed AV games to reach $1,200 in these times of sealed madness. Joe Santulli, head of Digital Press, told me he predicted $1,500 EACH. That kinda pumped me up to sell, though I never expected more than $1,000-$1,200. $600 each seems fair when sealed games much, much less rare go for that amount. Then again, AV sealed games are in less demand.

Where exactly did Joe say this? Considering that for a long time you could buy an entire set (system and all 3 games) brand new for $5000 BIN, $1500 each is a stretch.

I do find it funny that you said you thought your 2 games should reach $2000 (post 24 here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/164507-two-sealed-entex-adventurevision-games/)

Then you say you expected $1200 but heard $1500 each in this very thread.

But over here you say you don't expect a full set to break $2000 (post 35: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129103&page=2)

So why would your 2 games with no system be worth $3000, $2000, or even $1200 when that's barely over what you'd expect a full working system and all the games to go for? Sealed may bump the value a bit, but the truth is there are other sealed sets out there. They used to sit on ebay for months at a time with no bites. AV may be rare, but it's not very sought after. Sealed AV games are a very far cry from a sealed NES or 2600 grail item.

My first thought when you posted you were selling these was that you were nothing but a flipper looking for profit. When you first got these, you had been going on and on about how bad you wanted an Adventurevision and were willing to pay anything to get one. You got these two games and were justifiably excited. But why would you sell something you wanted so badly so soon? Under the guises of buying a car, which I was willing to give you credit for. But with all your talk of how much you expected to make on these as well as your Crazy Climber pricing, I have to say I'm back to thinking you are just a profiteer looking to make a quick buck.

  10. ANY optical drive that uses a tray and not a spindle grip (like the PS1 or most laptops) will scratch disks if you move it while it's on. It's nothing exclusive to the 360.

I'd love to hear a reasonable explanation as to why someone would need to move a console while they are playing it.
