  1. CED is a video format similar to laserdisc. But CED actually uses a needle to play the disc. I wonder if you could hear just the audio if you played a CED on a regular record player. Hmmm, I have a few CEDs I bought cheap just for the cover-art. Maybe I'll try them on my record player........
  2. Harvest Moon 64 $4.99 at used record store and NES 4 Score multi-tap $3.99. Cheap prices compared to ebay.
  3. Got my Power Pak today and it has the resistors to fix the bus conflict. Yes! Now to try it out on my A/V Famicom and Super 8 NES to SNES adapter.
  4. I have an Arcus 1-2-3 prototype (?) Mega CD-R disc. Anyone else have one? I don't know if it's a prototype or review copy.
  5. So you're saying you'll have fun, but once the 5200 is fixed then you won't be having fun. That's hilarious!
  6. I watched some of this and skipped through it. Seems more like an 80's film with cheap acting and fighting scenes. This is really a cheap version of a Mortal Kombat wanna-be movie. And actually, the guy who played Lui Kang in Mortal Kombat also makes a cameo in this as a weak thief-type character.
  7. I use one. Works fine. Never really understood the point of modding; never come across a Japanese game I couldn't play. Also has both 1MB and 4MB RAM (some games do require 1MB RAM; they won't work with 4MB), along with space for saves. Pretty much everything you need on one cart. I basically never take mine out when I've got my Saturn hooked up. There's also a "5 in 1" cart, supposedly, but I don't know what that extra "1" thing is. The only point of modding the Saturn is to be able to play games you've burned onto a CD-R. You'll still need the Action Replay or similar cartridge to play import Japanese games on CD-R. The 5-in-1 cart was just another name used by some companies for the 4-in-1 cart. 4MB of RAM + it's a converter = 5 features in 1 cart, wow!
  8. Hey black dog, SEGA Saturn is one of the best systems to own if you love videogames. For sure, get it chip-modded. Then you can play burned CDs and not have to worry about scratching your original Saturn CDs. Check out RacketBoy's webpage about SEGA Saturn for more info about your "new" Sega system.
  9. Got an email saying my Power Pak was shipped today (ordered it Thursday). Hopefully it has the resistors on it to fix this problem. Also, do you think disabling the lockout chip in the NES would solve any problems with the Power Pak? I found this bit of info about the lockout chip: "When you switch on the NES, the CPU and PPU are held in a reset state. The two lockout chips talk to each other. Since the chips are identical, they should be saying exactly the same thing at exactly the same time. Each chip compares its output with that of its counterpart. If they match, the lock chip releases the reset state of the console, and the game can start. The two chips still talk to each other, and if the outputs of the two chips ever differ, the lock chip causes the console to repeatedly reset, and the key chip inside the game cartridge may use the chip select lines of the cartridge ROM chips to disable them (though this disabling of the ROMs was probably never done)."
  10. The joystick is pretty good. Surprisingly it uses microswitches similar to an arcade stick.
  11. Survival Kids (it's where the NDS game Lost in Blue got it's start) Metal Gear Solid Dragon Warrior 3 All provide hours of good entertainment.
  12. Has anyone seen one of these before? I bought this off ebay a while back. It's actually a PAL system that can play Sega Mega Drive and Nintendo Famicom games, and I wanted to know if anyone here can give me some advice on how to convert this to play on a NTSC television. Mega Drive (16-bit) plus Famicom (8-bit) equals 24-bit system.
  13. Just curious, but if you say you can store this game in your garage for someone and play it, then why do you say you won't buy it because you don't have the space for it?
  14. Snow Bros (Mega Drive) is a cool multi-player game too. (Hey, how can I delete this post?!)
  15. Gotta have Rock n' Roll Racing in your multi-player collection too! And if you can find it, Yu Yu Hakusho by Treasure for the Japanese Mega Drive. It's a 4-player fighting game. You can play it on your US version Genesis with a Game Genie and a special code. And don't forget the 4-player Sega CD game Dungeon Explorer.
  16. I have an old computer with a 5 1/4 floppy drive. With that, could I just copy a C64 game from my PC hard-drive to a disk in the 5 1/4 floppy drive and then play it in an original 1541 drive?
  17. So you want to play SEGA CD imports. You might not need to do any hardware modifications. Try using SCDConv 2.5 which changes the region code of SEGA CD iso files to play on different region hardware. I've used this program to play Japanese Mega CD games on my SEGA CDX system. Basically you rip your SEGA/MEGA CD game into a .iso file and the audio tracks into .wav or mp3 files, then run the SCDConv 2.5 program to change the region of the .iso to your systems region. Then burn the converted .iso along with the .wav files using a cue sheet with Nero or whatever burning program you may use. I use Saturn Cue Maker 1.1.00 to make a cue sheet for Nero to use to burn the cd. http://www.fortunecity.com/underworld/stun...4/programs.html Note that not all import games will work using this method. What game are you trying to play anyway? I've converted Japanese Mega CD Ninja Warriors, Night Striker, Final Fight, Anette Funatabi, Shadow Run, Cyborg 009, and Lum and they work perfectly. I think you may have timing errors with PAL MEGA CD games though, like out of sync audio when I tried converting PAL Snatcher. ***************** http://www.segaxtreme.net/misc/downloads/scdconv.zip This utility can convert most (not all) sega cd iso images to a different country code. i.e., if you have an US sega cd, but a japanese game, you can run this tool on it to convert the bootcode to US, so it will play on your sega cd without additional carts or modifications. Usage: in a MS-DOS prompt, type "scdconv <isofilename>". It will tell you its current country code, and ask you which to change it to. It will also tell inform you if the probability of working is nil. After the file was converted, burn it to CD as usual.
  18. I played this game when I was younger and recently bought a used copy locally. It is a fun lightgun game, but prepared for some intense shooting. You must shoot the Gumshoe to make him jump over obstacles and also shoot objects/enemies that can kill him. The screen automatically scrolls to the left and you may get tired of constantly pulling the trigger at times. But this is definitely a unique game for the NES and a good way to get some MAJOR use out of your Zapper! If you've got an itchy trigger-finger this is your game.
  19. Has anyone here used the epier auction site? You could probably get away with your multicart auctions there, but there is low traffic so it probably wouldn't sell well unless you told people on these forums about your auction.
  20. I also have the Super Gameboy 2 and it is the best version to have since you can link it up to your GBA SP or GB Color and play 2 player mode on some GB games using the GBC link cable. You'll need 2 copies of the GB game of course.
  21. I bought myself the Space Invaders Collection for Colecovision. I was surprised to see it in the AtariAge store. I thought I'd never get a copy.
  22. I pre-ordered a few. Why not? How often will you see a "new" Genesis RPG get released anyway? By the way, I think it's funny that your character is the Prince of the kingdom of Shatt. Shatt sounds like the past tense of .... well, you know.
  23. Will this work properly with Konami Famicom games that have the VRC6/VRC7 sound chip such as Castlevania 3?
