  1. To me, the light looks like homebrew. I think that sometime during its like, people couldn't remember if it was on or off, so they added a big light to remember.
  2. Ooh, a Starpath catalog! Starpath is pimp! Man oh man, if I ever got a hold of the supercharger ... haha
  3. Here is a good how-to on de-jittering paddles. http://anvilfilms.net/ATARI/Paddles/paddle1.html I have a ton of joysticks (all kinds of flavors) in stock, send me a PM if you need new ones. That's the way to do it! I also have electrical contact cleaner with conductive oil. That stuff works ve-hery well. I originally bought it for my crossfader on my DJ mixer but I use it for everything now. I've used it on my paddles, my old school headphones (they have sliders on the speakers), my telephone, even my laser pointer! This stuff just rocks my socks.
  4. Wooooo-eeeeee! That looks hot! I wish they made them like that one!
  5. I haven't used my own PS2 in about 6 months
  6. The trick to programming on the 2600 is being able to code within the limitations of it. By hardware, you can only have a certain amount of things moving around the screen, only a few variables, a certain amount of processes between screen refreshes, etc.
  7. The kid isn't going to be like "waa, the gameplay is a little different than the original Asteriods," noooo ... he'll love it. I know it's not the same, being merely a badly reprogrammed, expensive, Infrogrames-owned version, but you can't beat the spirit of Atari, no matter how it is concieved. That's so great, what a story you have there!
  8. WOW! That looks great!! Now you just have to fill it up with shrinkwrapped games and it'll be an pwnage trophy
  9. I like the game (I'm a guy). The cart is neat, the graphics are nice, it's easy to play ... but I don't like having to wait through the opening song, and the beginning of it is messed up. It's like a paradox. It comes on on the beat, then comes in on another beat, then changes beats, then ends. Being a musician, it's like a headache wvery time I hit reset
  10. I've coded a bit more since, but that's all there is in it ... So far, I've programmed enough so that you can escape your cell. I've added some subroutines and stuff that really screwed it up though, so now I'm debugging it
  11. I just started about half an hour ago! Check it out! I hope to get it totally complete sometime. dungeon.zip
  12. Just leave it to microsoft to f'ck everything up ...
  13. Just the opposite. Lumina is the luminance (picture/ timing) and Chroma is color components. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA Oh, thanks for clearing that up!
  14. NE146, I laugh every time I come across your christmas avatar
  15. Wow that's interesting. My guess is that the contacts to the luma of the TIA is broken. Luma is the signal that gives the image color (chroma is for timing and b+w images). So I would open your Atari and just begin heating up the contacts. Just make the connections fresh. Hell, do all of em just to be sure about it. This will probably fix the problem. I'm saying this over a prediction that your components heat up and give contact after time.
  16. What I did to fix the paddles was done by some contact cleaning and lubing spray. I got it down at the electronics shop about a month ago and it works magic! One little spritz to the back ot the potentiometer and it's silky smooth and jitter-free.
  17. I think he's talking about the cardboard box
  18. Yeah! That would be awesome. But the problem with that idea is that little inaccuracies within the hardware and software would make the virtual player move slightly different on the screen, making it funky ...
  19. I wish that atari emulators were more advanced in that way. Look at ZSNES for example. Enter your friend's IP and you're connected, playing SNES games over the internet.
  20. Wow ... I would say that if you found the right person, he'd pay $40-50 for the Wico sticks. Not sure about the trackball. But those are some very nice controllers you have there!
  21. No, I adjust the pot right after I modded it. The colors are right, except for some colors are dim. Kinda strange, yeah ... Someone told me that it could be a bad solder connection on the circuitry near the TIA. But I really doubt this. If I open it up again, it'll be another deal and stuff. So what do you think? Has anyone put together this mod before? Did you experice this abnormality? And yeah, the mod was very easy! It took about 45 minutes to do a real careful job on it w/o flux. I bet that if I had flux and wasn't worried about toasting my prized game console, it would have taken only a dozen minutes!
  22. I love River Raid! It's my fav game of all time! Yes, it's challenging at first, especially since the controls are non-linear, but when you get the hang of it, it's like riding a bike. Oh, and in case you're interested in using a good controller ... http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=61300
  23. If the corners of that are actually of 45 degree angles and not round, then yeah, all you need is a standard A to B connector and you're set. But don't get them at the computer store, you'll get ripped off. Check ebay, there will be reasonable prices there. I don't see why anyone would want to pay more than $5 or $8 for a wire with connectors on the ends. Don't ever pay the $25 or $35 ripoff prices for them ...
  24. Hehe, I would if I could ... but the closest thing to having the light gun work with your PC is putting your Atari into a video capture ...
