  1. Just curious. Seems rarity on this one has gone up recently. Whats it worth? Cassidy
  2. I delivered a Battlezone to Peter's arcade years ago. He had a beautiful Space War and Haunted House that I will never forget. Seems he really finished things off. A local radio station was covering that game room about a year ago. Amazing work. As for classic arcades you can go and play, The Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas is tops. They have fully restored pins out the wazoo and a good handful of arcades (Pac, Berzerk, Scramble, Football, Track and Field, Asteroids, Centipede). They have some of the best EM driving games too. Those are a blast to play. Love the moving parts, lights, etc. Always fun, IMO. Pinballmuseum.org is the website. They have a PS2 and a PSP game based on some of their games. Fun game, too. Here is a shot of one row of games. I don't have a great camera phone but it gives you an idea. There are 5 rows like that, 200 pins total. C
  3. You know, I don't think I have "bought" a rare game in a good long while. Seems they all come in trades My Up N Down was a trade for Silver Gravitar which was a trade for a Tapper and manual, which I think I traded for a London Blitz which I got from.....seriously, its like that. Anybody else find that to be true? Congrats on your first r7...its downhill from there Standing on a slippery financial slope my friend, C
  4. Another thing about Joe and the site....they stand behind their products. If you save a dollar (literally, maybe two; we are not talking about a big difference here) on ebay and it does not work you are out the WHOLE thing. Joe will go out of his way (and has MANY times) to make the deal right. He continually offers big selection for a system that is long past its stocked state, keeps tabs on the market regularly with the fantastic newsletter and really makes an effort to be part of the community. Support him when you are ready to buy. Its great we have the resource in our hobby. C
  5. Props to Gateway, too Great looking boxes and I have a few more off my list. Thanks for a smooth deal! Cassidy
  6. Just an observation.... While we all know what you are talking about, somebody that has an "old atari" system around does not know (most likely) which it is or what joysticks it has. My suggestion....and it has worked MANY times for me.....Want to buy old Atari. Thats it. Let them call/email/tell you what they have and go from there. FTWIW, if they know what they have they might think its a goldmine. You are simply trying to get them to dig it out and go from there. Maybe add "good money paid for working games/systems, etc" and go from there. HTH, I think you are more than fair in your asking prices. If you want a 7800 with original controls and power supply, I could be persuaded. May take a bit but its possible Cassidy
  7. I had no idea the Starpath version of Frogger was that much better than the PB version. I guess I never got to see a screenshot of it. Dangit, now I need a boxed copy Yes, I know I can play it with my CD version but a game that good needs to be in the collection C

  19. Ok, I spent all my money on vacation last month.....now I need to refill the kitty. If'n you want it, I might be negotiable on the price....LMK Bump. Cassidy
  20. I have to chime in..... I think the Adventurevision HAS to be on the list. Just a few titles and the technology behind it is weak. Its a spinning mirror and a single row of red LED's that would cause seisures a mile away. The flicker-fest is brought to freakishly high dollars in its boxed condition and frankly, thats about all it would ever do (is sit in its box). The Virtual Boy was a good idea gone wrong. The Adventurevision was like all the other Entex stuff (IMHO cheap and inherently not fun). I am sure someone would disagree but their other table tops were no fun either. Halcyon has to be on there...2 games total, right? How about the Laseractive? I know the few titles it had were decent but the prices are way too high. They are fairly tempermental to keep running IIRC. Its an exercise in frustration...you have a console system BASED on the weakest system in the laserdisc arcades....makes good sense to me Neo Geo CD system (single speed) would be on my list too. The cart system is CLEARLY superior in EVERY way. Controls, load time, reliability, etc. I think the platform is fine, just not that version of the technology. How about Mattel Aquarius? Its like a crappy pocket calculator on steroids with hulking power cables and a steaming pile for a library of software. I'd rather have fillings than play the system. WonderSwan (portable I know). Its a black and white handheld system with only a handful of titles before the color version launched and crushed it. Way to go guys, beat your own system to market. Good idea. Not. Gee, and for all of you kids that wanted to grow up to be a train conductor, you have that sparkling gem of a game to practice with (I think it was called GO! GO! or something crappy like that). In defense....Action Max really is not a console perse. I don't know that it counts in this poll. I have one, complete with the library unplayed (most NIB) that I have had since I was a kid. Its about on par with the laserdisc games in that you cant directly control actions, only the score reacts to your inputs. Does that constitute a console if it does not actually contain a game? Its more like the Video Music Machine thing that Atari had in the 70's. Just my .25 C
  21. The light on the pcb only means you have 5 volts, not -5 or 12 (although that would only do sound). You need to get a voltmeter and start at the AR-II board to trace voltages. My first guess is the big blue capacitor in the bottom of the game. Start there. They are about 15 bucks from therealbobroberts.com and other places. Called Atari big blue cap, you can search online for one. I would clean the fuses in the bottom of the machine, too. Use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts on the connector edge of the pcb. I would also reseat the chips on the board. Most likely the rom chips got shaken around in the move. Never a bad idea to reseat them anyway Hope that helps, Cassidy
  22. Thats about the coolest Atari memory you could have. It sort of bridges time and family. I wonder how many others have memories that make Atari more than the sum of its parts. I have a feeling you will always remember those games. Nothing ever eventful happened to me regarding Atari games. I do remember Christmas for me was often before December 25 because my parents were split and I would spend the holiday with my dad. My best Atari memory was the chicken from Freeway and just how much joy that brought me. I remember the next year getting Jungle Hunt and playing it for HOURS on end. My 2600 I had back then is still one of my favorite things in this world. If I had to run into my burning house, that might well be the one thing I would take. C
  23. If the spot comes on as you turn off, you know the monitor has a spot killer . That is common for vectors to do if there is no input signal. So that narrows it down to the logic board. The monitor is probably just fine, now you have a dead brainboard on your hands. Get a broken one that plays blind and mate the two C
