  1. No one wants to play me at Monkey Fight on Super Monkey Ball. I am really not that good at games; I think thats why I learned to work on them, so I could be around them and not have to show off! Honestly, best ever scores were always beaten out. Best at Kaboom: 6000. Best Ms. Pac (arcade) was 250,000. Best Galaga (arcade) 350,000. Best Robotron (arcade) 145,000. It helps if you have the machine, because you play best in your boxers at 3 in the morning. Really, buy one and you will figure out what I am saying. I can now destroy the Death Star on Hard my first time through Star Wars (cockpit- same one as in Philly, thanks again to Stan for movin' her!). Whats all this about wives and power supplies? Look what ya did? Moycon has bologna all over his keys too! Dude, you're getting a Deli! Cassidy
  2. Greatest add on for the system. I just sold my Missile Command upright at the PC3, and I like the 5200 version better than the real one. The bigger ball in the Arcade does not let you overshoot, but does take some real skill to master the rolling. The 5200 is responsive, but gives an arcade feel. Not like the coleco joke of a trackball (spent years looking for it, minutes playing it, and a lifetime sorry I bothered!). Ever tried playing Pole Position with the trackball? What a mess! I wish Kaboom supported the trackball. Cassidy
  3. Ok, Messiahs of memory, holy ones of eprom-ness, I have a question. I got a dead Dolphin cart some time back, and I decided "gee, I made some other carts, I bet I can make this one work again.". Simple 4 K game, right? 5 hours of monkeying around, I finally got it, but not the way I started to. I tried using the directions for a 4K 2532 cartridge, and I could not make it work. When I tried to read the image off of the original rom chip in my burner, it said the chip was not seated correctly. Of course it was, but it would not read it. Checking the pcb for the cart, I found it was the right one to be using, but still no luck burning the game onto a 2532. So, I used the Binary from the web, (thanks to Al and all!) did the three million modifications necessary to the pcb, and got it going. My question is this: Was this just freakish bad luck, or does the chip differ from Atari carts to Activision carts? I am specifically talking about 4K games, not earlier or later ones. If you know why this did not work, and no its not because I am ugly, I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks, Cassidy
  4. Quadrun -10 Waterworld -9 Crazy Climber -8 Tons of those in-betweens, and ones that I do not see often. As for other systems, I have a Percepts set for the Odyssey 1, and that is beyond difficult to find. Of course, I do have a 2 player Computer Space. Does that count? Cassidy
  5. You know I am in! The new DPG is out this time and I am in it. I did the section on the Odyssey 1 stuff. Of course, it is quite possibly the shortest console section ever made, sans the Adventurevision (dig on Jeff F!). Anyway, its also the first two days of my honeymoon. Now thats a great [email protected]! Cassidy
  6. Way to go! Another bunch of collectors that work by the numbers! I set a goal of Cx2601- CX 26100 BOXED! I have all but a few boxed, but do have all of the carts. I even went as far as buying an eprom burner so I can "make" the ones that were missing. Tempest, Frog Pond, etc. As for the 01, 02, etc, I have all of the gatefold titles as well, but still missing a few of the boxes. Gotta love the numbers! Cassidy
  7. I have around 250 different titles for the 2600. About 150 of them are boxed. Homebrews et al. included. Next highest collection numbers: TG16, I have about 75 titles for that one. And on and on...... Got some shots of my colleciton on my website. Cassidy
  8. Hi there, I will be selling some systems in the near future. As a collector, I would rather these games stay in this community than the goobers of the world's hands. Here are the systems. If you are interested in one, let me know. Thanks Neo Geo Gold System in the original box. Comes with King of Monsters 2, Samuria Shodown 2, Ghost Pilots, Nam 1975, Blues Journey, Riding Hero, all booklets (missing one for one of the games but cant remember off hand which one). Box has all inserts, manuals and cables. Comes with memory card. Super nice system, tons of fun Fairchild Channel F System 2. Comes with 5 games, one is boxed. I will throw in a dead extra game for those of you that like to take stuff apart. Works all the way; this is the more desireable one of them, even though neither is that great gameplay. Sega Saturn. I have like 6 games for it plus the original 3 pack that came with the system. I also have the boxed Nights controller and the memory expanding pack. No rare games, but the system has honestly been used about 5 times. I was not a fan other than the Rally Racing game (which was passed in my opinion quickly by other games in my collection). Boxed Microvision system. Screen is wierd. Works, but has a row of blocks out. If you need one for parts, and a good box, this is it. Comes with that breakout game (hey, I'm at work, cant remember everything! ). Loose Sega Genesis systems Just drop me a line if you are interested in anything. I know we can make a deal and save on ebay fees. Thanks Cassidy
  9. Normally, I am padding my collection. Now it looks like I need to thin some of it out. I have decided to get completely out of debt, get down to one vehicle, and try to get a house. Funny what marriage does to you. Here is what I am considering selling. If you are interested, email me with reasonable offers. Of course, these are all 2600- I know it belongs on the marketplace page, but I love this one so much.... Sealed: Custers Revenge- Still sealed in mint package Zaxxon- Sealed and in great shape Dragonstomper- Sealed for use w/ Supercharger Boxed: Sears Keyboard controllers Sears Star Raiders with boxed Sears control pad Loose wierd carts: Stellar Track Steeplechase Race (78 Sears Release of Indy 500) I have a bunch of others, just found out I need moolah like an hour ago. Will also be selling a boxed Sega Saturn with boxed controllers and some sealed games. Hate to do it, but it looks like my Neo Gold boxed system has to go, too
  10. I ebay stuff all the time and that is what I see them going for. If you are fortunate enough to live in an area that is "atari-rich", you might fair better at a thrift store. At some point, though, there is the time and energy factor that outweighs the extra few bucks. 2600's from reputable sources go for more than that on the web, so you did fine. If you are not mechanically inclined, or are just someone that does not want to tinker around with finding the right adaptors, ebay is wonderful. You did fine. Enjoy your new toy! Now comes the real sickness....you know that cartridge slot fits a whole bunch of games! Cassidy
  11. Of course, the real Turbo was a vertical configuration. I have trouble with the scoring and stuff. As I recall, 2600 numbers are generally more boxy than that. I know its a stupid addition to a well covered picture. BTW, I would freak out to have a copy of this game. Way cool lore behind this one. Cassidy
  12. Congrats on the semi-score! I know that there are many games in my collection that I love, but none more than the ones I had as a child. There is something so rewarding about playing something you had as a child. We would all be looked at pretty strangely if we started playing with Star Wars figures, so basically, this is the only type of "toy" we can still play! Nice titles! I did not ever send away for a game, nor did I ever assume there would be a market for boxed anything. I kept all of my toys in their boxes, thank goodness, but the game boxes are long gone. Hope you can get it all soon, and start playing. Just an fyi: I have marked all of the games I had as a child. About a year ago, when I got into reselling consoles, I ended up selling off a set of controllers I had as a child. I did not know it at the time, and got them confused with ones from another system. I was heartbroken. I have sinced identified everything I had as a kid, so that will NEVER happen again. I recommend the same. Quadruns come and go, but I know of a fortunate few that had it as a child (I never knew it existed until two years ago!). Let us know when you get it. If you need help repairing any of it, drop me a line! Cassidy
  13. Just met with my County Supervisor about a student's project and got an idea. He mentioned that there are ways to make molds of objects, then make them out of fiberglass. Not that this is a suprise, as it is what the student did, but here is the kick: What if I made a mold of my Computer Space Cabinet and turned it into a 2600 machine? The control panel is the perfect shape for all the controllers, and you could very easily have the coolest looking arcade machine around. The Sean Kelly menu multi-cart would be perfect, and you would have an arcade machine worthy of the Atari pedigree- not just a plywood cabinet. Do you think there would be interest in buying these? I do not know what the cost would be dollar wise, but I know the man-hours would be tremendous. Cassidy
  14. Where is the example "How to draw a playfield" on the web? I would love to do the tutorial. Thanks, Cassidy
  15. I still have your copy! Dont worry, we will work out another deal. Cassidy
  16. Hmm, Have to say, I have read these threads, and they sound like there need to be some hugs. We are a community, whether we admit it or not, we are the foothold the past has to our future. We do not throw out the woodgrain, we idolize it, and showcase them proudly. AA might very well have the next big hit on their hands. I have a better chance of breathing underwater than ever actually writing my own game, but I know my experience here on AtariAge has taught me how to manufacture game carts from scratch, different bankswitching schemes, great support, and above all, fun. I hope that we as a group can do the following: 1. Not tick off the Messiahs that write the new games. Not hackers, like me, but the real-deals. 2. Support up and coming programmers, as this is a long road. We should make sure there are pit stops along the way. 3. Suggest good things like 6502.org or DASM sites, etc. So much good info is out there, its worth a link page in itself (probably is already one out there). 4. Have fun! We all work out rears off to afford these luxuries (aka overpriced electronic antiques!), live a little and support the new guys! By the way: To AA, you guys should probably start by playing a bunch of 2600 games. Sounds hokey, but get a feel for what you can and cannot do on the screen. Its easier to figure out things if you know what they will look like in the end. Good luck. Cassidy
  17. Hi all, I have a suprise for Stan, the taker of pizza and eater of naps. Generally, because he is such a great guy, but also for all of his help in Philly. Even though I am getting married in three weeks (mind you, the first two days of our honeymoon are being spent at the CGE- yes, she is awesome!), time has freed up for me some. I have a Polo cart for him. You guys would not believe all the hard work he did to help me tear down and get packed back up. Star Wars Cockpits are not the lightest things in town! Thanks. If anyone has Stan's addy, thats fine too. Would like to drop it in the mail for him when I go tomorrow mid-day. Take it easy, Cassidy
  18. If its the original glass, that is a good deal. I sell restored ones for around a grand, and that is with aftermarket underlays and repro marquees and CP overlays. They are a bear to keep running with the original power supplies, but a switcher makes it all the better. No mid-game drop out. 8 is a good price. I would ask for 9 and settle for 850. Cassidy
  19. You know, I hope all of you with loaners and protos out there are considering ROM dumps. Even if you do not put the roms in the public domain, at least back it up on your PC at home. Clearly, if you have the income for these super-rarer than rare games, a few hundred bucks for an EPROM burner/reader should not be a problem. As these games suffer bit-rot, we may be losing some one of a kind data. Just my .25 worth. I do have a way to store the data, and I have a good reputation in the community (at least I think I do?) if anyone finds something unique out there. Cassidy
  20. I am a little more than half way to getting the full 2600 Activision boxed releases, and its funny, I have only played a handful of them. I think games like Plaque Attack and Pressure Cooker are fun and original, but the games that grab me the most are Kaboom! and Crackpots. Just as a side note: I bought a sealed Crackpots, and could not stand it being un-playable, so I opened it (not something I do considering about 1/3 of my collection is still sealed). The ActiPlaque we all know was not present at all. Maybe the actiplaque does have something to do with the game being exposed to air? Just a thought. I know theres air in the box, but it is protected. Cassidy
  21. I do not think its a bad version considering everything it was faced with. I agree that it would have had a few boards, but given what the system could do, its not a bad attempt. Certainly its the stuff proto-lore is made of. Cassidy
  22. I can take care of the Polo one I sent you a private message. As for Road Runner, Best is running low, but I got mine about three months ago. They are still out there, and they sell for less new than they go for open on ebay! Cassidy
  23. 10. Night Driver cockpit- makes the game to sit in a fiberglass chair 9. Warlords 8. Galaga 7. Baby Pac Man 6. Robotron 5. Tempest 4. Star Wars Cockpit- again the sitting makes the game 3. Ms. Pac Fast play (original mazes)Cocktail 2. Env. Discs of Tron 1. Computer Space - its an experience, not a play value. There are some new games I like too : Bust a Move, Hydrothunder, Crazy Taxi, Galaxian 3, Star Wars Racer. They just dont compare though. Cassidy
  24. Well, I just sold a Neo Geo Cd system with box and 3 games (SS2, KOF 95 and Nam 75) for 300. I bought my cartridge Gold system with memory card and about six games for 600. They are not cheap. Just beware the MVS carts do NOT fit the home system. Your cheapest way to do it is to get a single slot Neo Geo arcade machine and buy the carts on ebay. You can get a junk machine at auction for 100 bucks and carts on ebay for 25 each vs. their home counterparts for almost 3 times that. HTH, Cassidy BTW, The home controllers do plug directly into the arcade board. If you are lucky, your machine will also support memory cards.
  25. I built shelves, and transformed a few rooms into collection rooms. If its nice enough for me to buy, it should be displayed. If you look on my website, I have added another 48x60 bookshelf unit to the room to hold the Activision boxed collection. It never ends. Plan on it Cassidy
