Official Release time for Polo at PC3: Friday at 7
Cassidy Nolen replied to Cassidy Nolen's topic in Atari 2600
Come on, I will make it worth your time. You know, there may not be as many people playing Star Wars Friday night? I have a feeling there will be a line at that one on Saturday. I am trying to rangle a deal to have a Ms. Pac/Galaga combo there too. Cassidy -
Thanks for the compliments on the label! I will have the one I made for sle, and thats it. I am including like 20 games and the cart for 30 or I will entertain any trade for goodies. 'Yall stop by at the show and say Hi. We will have either Polo or SSX Tricky on Gamecube running the whole time. Or Quadrun for those interested. Cassidy

Well, D&B was and idea I tossed out there a few months back. Nicole and I went last year after the show, and were amazed by the place. It was too crowded to eat there, so we ate next door and went back to play. Its about a 15 minute car ride from this years location, best I can figure. As for me, I will be there with a table and a bunch of arcades for sale. I am trying to bring (of course, this is if I can get them all loaded up): Breakout, Jungle King, Missile Command, and a Special of the day: Mortal Kombat. Others that are not for sale: Pac Man, Star Wars cockpit, Computer Space and Wild Western. I will have a number of 2600 goodies for sale, systems in the boxes, and a bunch of boxed and loose carts. Did I mention I have a game called POLO for sale Friday! Looking forward to seeing you all there, I will be the dude worried sick about scratches on Computer Space. Cassidy

I just hope you get your moneys worth. Theres about $40 in parts there, and if you do not have a burner, then its a worthwile endeavor. In order for the Atari to properly play an Eprom, you have to use a hex inverter. Chances are good that there is an inverter wired up inside of that cart. I have a good number of chips that I have pulled from carts to make other games, and I made a cart to play them. This one did not have an inverter in it, therefore can only play ROMS (or original encoded chips). The chips he says do not work may be actual roms themselves, and you could easily add a socket to another cart yourself in order to play them. I would question the origin of these, only because there are so many brands together in one place (Atari, Sega, Activision). These guys were not all best friends to say the least. From a collectors standpoint, interesting. From a players standpoint, super cool. Heres a pic of my "unicart" label(I am bringing it for sale this weekend, BTW). Feel free to use it if you like. http://atarionline.com/unicart.jpg Cassidy [ 04-22-2002: Message edited by: Cassidy ]

Hi all, I have just found out when I can release the game. I do not have a lot of them, but do have plenty of other 2600 goodies for sale/trade, so make sure to not be a stranger. Polo will be available at 7 p.m. on Friday night, and will go until there are none left (makes sense). There will be one saved for the Saturday auction, so if you cannot be there Friday, you can still get one. It has been difficult to figure a fair way to distribute these, and I know I cannot make everyone happy. I will be going on a first come, first serve basis. Honestly, I just hope there is enough of an interest to take the ones I am bringing. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants! If you would like to see some shots, www.atarionline.com/projects.html I am sure the site will get shut down due to too much bandwidth, etc. so check back if it is down. I know this may not work for everyone, so I am considering a list of others who are interested in getting one, and see if I can fill the requests after the show. Thanks to everyone for their support and friendship through Atari. I am looking forward to meeting many of you Friday. Thanks, Cassidy

Boxed Polo Carts will be ready for PC3!
Cassidy Nolen replied to Cassidy Nolen's topic in Atari 2600
I wish I had known that before we started. What we have done is create "theme" production: Labels and designs are period correct. www.atarionline.com/projects.html Here are some shots of things. I do not think anyone would disapprove of the design, or the intention (I hope?). Let me know what you guys think of Osmeroids and my handiwork.. Cassidy -

Just emailed David to see what time is good. I was thinking earlier, because I do not want anyone to miss the BB release and signing. I would not mind Friday night, but I know that might hinder some people from getting there. I have so few copies, how do you all think I should do this fairly? Cassidy -
Boxed Polo Carts will be ready for PC3!

I have had such an interest in this, I may end up doing a batch after the show. At this point, I have to sell some to get back the money I spent making these. You guys may know a better way to get printing done, but when you start using heavy cardstock and color printing, the prices for a few pieces go through the roof. It takes about 40 minutes to get one boxed up and ready to go. I have not seen my fiancee in the last two weeks. Wake up, work, home to the office to make Polo, bed, repeat. Lets see what happens at PC3. For all I know, there are only 10 people who want this thing. BTW, emailed Carol Shaw today to get her blessings. I had been trying to get a way to contact her for months, and one showed up today. We shall see. Cassidy -
Hi all, Somehow you are all witness to a miracle: I got my act together and will have boxed 2600 Polo carts for sale at the show. They have been quite possibly the biggest pain to get right (and expense) I have ever undertaken. I have a VERY limited number of them. They are hand numbered and have the Philly Classic dates on the box. They are complete with full color labels, full color box, styrofoam inserts, manuals and display bags. They will be the regular boxed new release price of 40 each. I am also planning on entering one in the auction, in case you miss me when I sell them. I want to again compliment Osmeroid for all of his hard work on the box and manual art. Great stuff to work with, and a great guy. Wish he could join us for the fun I will be the guy with the Computer Space Machine (hey, all great things are green, right?). Easy to find. Thanks for reading my post. See you soon, Cassidy BTW, same post came to those of you on the PC3 listserv. Sorry for the double.

Brad, I need a four switch main board, if you would be willing to sell it? LMK>>>>> OR trade for some games? Cassidy

Which Console Video Game Character are YOU?
Cassidy Nolen replied to digitalpress's topic in Atari 2600
Ha, Pick Axe Pete. How endearing. Never actually played the game. Strange. Cassidy -
I guess for the same reason a Star Wars Darth Vader in the original plastic goes for over 600. Its all about the experience, whether that means playing it or not. For me, the sealed games are little time capsules. I love the idea of opening something 30 yeas from now, when it has been sealed for over 50 years. I can buy cheap open games anytime. The sealed ones for me are like cheating time. Cassidy

I was just thinking about this today on my way to work. On the back of my truck, I have a black round Atari sticker with the Fuji logo. I have a silver blue logo that says WANNA PLAY on the back of my Vette. Sort of stands for both games and my feelings about the "fast and furious" thing! Just wondered if anyone has anything showing their love. I have a plate frame that says "I'd rather be playing Atari", but its on the gameroom wall. Cassidy

Found a boxed 6 switch this week for 40, but when I talked to them about it, I got it for 20. Not bad. When I opened it all up, it even has an import Atari Power supply that fits a European outlet and has Atari on the back. I have not found out whether it is PAL or not, but that would rock if it was. This is the time of year I usually do well. Found a Coleco boxed with 35 games two weeks ago for 25 bucks. Also found a handfull of Intellivision carts. Fun to find em. Cooler to play them. Cassidy

Hello all, While I was rebuilding my Atari CX40's the other day, I had Combat on the system to test, because I knew it would show all the motions, except down. Now, just for giggles, I pushed it anyway (seeing how it was in my hand, and when both up and down are pressed, the tank gets a sort of turbo speed. Just a thought, but if you wanted to whomp your friends at the tank game, you could hack a dead joystick and add a down button somewhere on the bottom, so you had a turbo when he/she comes at you. Just a thought. Hey, its worth what you paid for it. Cassidy

quote That was my biggest complaint about Vegas, heck the only one I had. People would not sell anything. Its all for trade. I understand people wanting to do that, but still, give me a shot at it. I will sell anything I bring for trade. I would actually rather do that and then have the cash to go get whatever I want there. If anyone needs some table space, we might be able to work it out. I will most likely try and have Computer Space at my table, rather than at the arcade, because it cannot be on the entire time. It has not been on for more than 10 hours (total) in the last three years. Sort of like a collectors car they never drive but love.). We really should do something to mark ourselves at the show. Maybe we could make buttons of a graphic from the group with our usernames so we can just say hi. I cannot wait to meet some of you all. This has been by far the best part of the collecting world for me in the last six months. As for coin ops, I will be bringing a Missile Command for sale (around $600), Night Driver cockpit rewired for modern power supply (for $400), maybe a Breakout for sale ($300). I am trying to get a modern driving game like Rush or Cruizin (around 1800 each) too. If someone wants a specific, drop me a line. I could bring a Pole Position (special cheapie of the day!)if anyone is interested.

I am really hoping someone will bring a boxed Astrocade for trade, and a boxed trackball for Coleco. Any takers on this early trade? Cassidy BTW, any of you interested in buying full size games while you are there? I had a lot of interest last year, but few people had trucks to bring them home. And no, SW or CS are not for sale!! Cassidy

Hi all, Just thinking about what I am bringing. Most likely, some boxed 2600 carts, around 100 carts loose for trade, heavy sixer system, Vectrex MultiCarts, Astrocade rare carts (Muncher, Treasure Cove, etc), Sega Master boxed carts, New Gameboy F1 with wiretap kit, Microvision boxed, Gamecom with Williams Classic all boxed. Anyone interested in a Saturn boxed with games? Bringing the Game Cube for some fun, and of course, Computer Space, Star Wars cockpit, hopefully Night Driver cockpit and a few for sale I am also going to have some POLO carts for trade. There is a chance I would have a box by then, courtesy of Osmeroid's hard work, but not likely. I will also have a 2600 hooked up so you can play Polo at the booth. I am looking for a Coleco Trackball boxed with Slither, anything for the Odyssey 1 in the box, an Astrocade in the box. Anyone wanna tell what they are bringing?

Went though Dallas, Fort Worth about a year ago. Hit every flea market, antiques shop and Goodwill I could find, and did not do well. Not to say they wern't there, I just did not sense anything on my Ataridar. Saved luggage space, though. Cassidy

I still have a deadbeat on my heavy sixer auction from a month ago. I do not understand this phenomena either. One day, something sells for 10 bucks, next its 30. Strange. Of course, if you really do want something, you go a good ways to get it (think I went like 30 for a boxed Kaboom, only to have three sell the next month for half that!!) Cassidy

I was at the Winston Salem auction this last weekend, and sort of want the groups concensus whether I am nuts or not. There were some classics, and they varied in quality but here are some results: Centipedes: 400-450 Galagas: 550-800 Pac Man 350 (obviously I bought that one!) Ms. Pac 650 Average of all the ones sold. Then they had a Bubbles, that went shy of 400, nice piece Smokey Joe, no picture, played blind 3 of the 4 times it was powered up: 180 scratched sides Chicago Coin Video Pinball: 70 Taito Qix converted to Trivia Whiz: 80 Pac and Galaxian bare wood cocktail cabinets, no electronics or steel parts: 20/both Terrible Galaga clone went for over 500! What do you think? On par, low, high? Just putting these out there. Cassidy

A can of good electrical contact cleaner will fix those pots right up inside those controllers. Easy to disassemble, worlds of fun when they are clean. Game on! Cassidy
-
You can always trade them to me for some carts you want......? Cassidy

Could this have been the problem with my 2600?
Cassidy Nolen replied to Atari Master's topic in Atari 2600
If you have no RF output, disassemble the machine and resolder any cracked joints on the board where the cable plugs in. If you do not feel comfortable, there are plenty of us on the board that could help. If the wire itself is bad, that is an easy fix. Get a cheap RCA cable and replace the original one with it. Simple as that. Sometimes the modern RCA's center pole is a hair too long for the old socket inside the 2600, so you just cut the end of it off so it fits. HTH, Cassidy
