i can't stop posting messages!! I know I'll have to do something else, but I can't remember the stuff I used to do. Ah heck, I'll take a risk and walk to Jess's house, I'll get me shoes.

All 2600 (and sears variants) actually use 5v, they have a 9v PSU and a little widget just inside the casing knocks it down to 5. If you can get a psu where the plug fits, is more than 7v but not quite enough to kill a rhino then you'll be fine.

But Marty, what game was it from?
-
good luck nice controllers - you'll like it

In these black plastic and brushed steel days, I've gotta pronounce my love for the woodgrain (6 switch of course)

Right, please excuse my ignorance (many try ). I dont have an Atari computer (yet) but I plan to get one, am I right in thinking that an emulator will be able to save roms in a sound format (wav file or whatever) that I can load into the real machine, or am I just a fool to myself? By the way, nice to see some basic listing again - I miss basic

I hope to goodness Robotron WAS released in PAL, it looks brilliant.

New atari computer site readme!
liveinabin replied to Atari-Jess's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Jess, thought you might like to know, I've just used your site for a bit of research - and got the answer straight away - I wasn't sure if the XL/XE series were compatible with 400 software. Got it. Thanks very much -
I agree, the 400 seems a much more sensible buy than a 5200. Since it's basically the same hardware anyway but without the stick problems. Must get one.

What game is this chip from?
-
maybe he has the wheel way too far round one way beyond the games range, that's confused me a few times, with the paddle at the bottom of the screen not moving. Get him to turn it through a few turns either way.

What am I gonna do? Atari-jess's jaguar is all the way over in canada! i can't make that in 90 minutes!!!

These look like 'brainstorming' sketches, ie. a company will ask its designers 'what would you like to see, irrelevant of cost', all these sketches get produced, the silly stuff (flat screen) gets ignored and some of the nifty little design ideas get used for later projects. I dont think its at all a coincedence that some of these drawings show design features built into later Atari games systems.

I will buy a Vectrex when I can get the cash together, but if money was no object?...um...one of those cool Pong arcade machines - yeah.
-
I'd say they're fairly serious concept sketches. before the wonder of computer design, this is what design illustrations looked like. all pantone markers and gouache paint.
-
yeah, this would have cost THOUSANDS of dollars to buy, it would have made more sense to buy a Kray 6 to play Tron on

i didn't know there were any. Mind, at $50, who cares? buy the real thing before its gone - you won't regret it I agree with Liquid_sky, theres definitely some feel about it. From the moment I picked up that control pad and Crazy taxi started up, I just knew this was the very console for me. I think Gamecube is gonna feel pretty similar.

oddly enough, I just worked out how to do it tonight, you hold a key while you're moving don't you?

My new Atari project (please read, need help).
liveinabin replied to King Atari's topic in Atari 2600
What a great idea, how about building the sticks and paddles into an armchair for the total experiance -
yes, cybergoths got me busy in the cavern, if I'm good I get to eat - maybe tomorrow!

Would the old games be produced today ?
liveinabin replied to Callipygous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
behind all the blood, tits and guns, todays uninspired games ARE those games of old. Take any 'next gen' game and you can find its ancestor in 2d on the Atari, with very few exceptions. -
I've got to get Tempest 2000 then. Oh yeah, any forthcoming games that'll include llamas? And do you still go by the Jeff 'awesome' Minter moniker? or am I smoking too many banana skins?
