Right, I'm going to rebuild the Intellivision (basically putting the innards with speech unit in one box with some proper controller ports and maybe an external psu), aaaanyway, I've been looking for a controller to replace the famously awful INTV1 controller and the Jags is nigh on perfect. Same amount of keys on pad, the three fire keys respond to the (effectively) 3 INTV side keys. Now, while there are docs on the internet about how to wire a standard 8 way pad to replace the nightmare disc, I don't know how to wire up the intv keypad also. i need help, I'll be putting everything through 9 pins (like INTV2) so that'll mean lopping off the jag controller cord but thats no problem. Anyone a bit clever with electronics - please help!!!!

Thanks mate, you've just saved me a lot of time and money (not to mention a wrecked intellivision )

Whats the score? - I challenge you to beat mine....
liveinabin replied to Fretwobbler's topic in Atari 2600
I think the kind of games that make sense to have a score still do. We shouldn't need scoring on all games - for instance, what would you need it for in Shenmue? -
Well, I've had a Jaguar for, oh, about 2 hours now and I've got Defender 2000. the classic mode is better than any other version of Defender I've played (though the gameboys comes close ) Defender+ is unnecessary and Defender 2000 is JUST AWFUL. You can't have a ship that big, going that fast in a playfield that small. And that music - good grief - what is it with Jeff Minter and hideous early-90s techno??? I might get missile command 3d tomorrow and give that a go.

I want to see a straight port of robotron using the numeric pad to fire. As for new games, maybe Ghostbusters or Keystone Kapers

whoah!! well, maybe I overstated it a bit, its not TERRIBLE. But it's just easy game music, i dunno - graphically and sonically, it's not very creative - just big sprites drawn by someone who never studied. pity really, theres a great game under the cliched visuals.

Yeah, theres a copy of basketball on sale in my town like that. Bloody ugly if you ask me!

Goddammit. I want a 5200. Might import one, I hear the controllers suck - which is precisely why I loathe my Intellivision - an I bet they're heavy (postage!!!) I'd like to see what homebrewers can do with it nowadays. Oh sorry about this - a bit off topic

can I play?

My god, it's like the VHS version of Playstation 2!! Probably just as well they never made it, imagine the problems you'd have trying to keep a 20 year old VHS game system going. Maybe we're all wrong, perhaps its a microfiche system designed for cataloguing collections of Star Wars figures!

I think ---(insert name here)---- part 3 should never be made, 2 of any game is enough

Well, talking of slaughtered, Berzerk, of course, is famous for being related to the first confirmed death while playing videogames, some guy just shuffled off his mortal coil mid game in the early 80s. What made it worse I suppose was the machine would have been sitting there crying out "Ha Ha humanoid!!" sick
-
hehe. but really, does anyone know if it makes any difference to this mod whether your atari is PAL or NTSC? I have no idea, I know that electric things flow through it, but after that it might as well be being carried by tiny pixies.

I think the more advanced gaming gets, the more the original simple titles shine. Although they were good titles, games in the era of Xenophobe were partly selling themselves on their complexity and graphics, This was never the deal with the early stuff. So the old stuff, ironically, is always going to age the least - give me a 1978 VCS game over a Jaguar title any day.

Hey everyone - it's christmas!!!! We all love Atari (I more than most today after having to use an intellivision controller earlier - I really wanted to kill en masse after that!) and I don't think anyone is stepping on anyones toes here. We all need to watch 'Its a Wonderful Life' and then play Kaboom! works for me

incidentally, most of those cool (self made) models that were on the front of Rankins books are on display in my local bookshop. He visits here often, I think he's local.

Oh wow, I forgot about Angus, remember when they revised the Amiga 500 chipset?, asking your friends with all seriousness "have you got a fatter angus?"
-
right, spanner in works - will this work the same for a PAL 2600?
-
it's true, the 2600 was stella also (after a chap at atari's bike!)

I wonder what it might be, I'm guessing that perhaps Gunfight has been decreed as Bavarias national sport. Am I close?...
