yeah, but combats such a simple premise that a remake is gonna be alot like any other game. Heck, Unreal tournament is just combat! I don't think we're gonna see any more original games for a while, you always get this at 'new console' time.

I was watching Ghostbusters on DVD yesterday (I LOVE that movie) and they have 3 arcade machines at their HQ that I can't identify, anyone know?

Why?? we've already played all these games on other systems. I'd like to see new stuff for the 2600, but NEW stuff.

how can Pitfall 3 be regarded as a NEW GAME?? ANYWAY:- HERO would seem the most workable idea. I personally would love to see a big 3d sprawling Keystone Kapers, imagine it, you could do the graphics in that flickery sepia too-fast film style. it'd be nice to have a western game that wasn't trying to be 'ard!. Well I like Dragster, its just a simple game of skill - and if you screw it up, thats only 6 seconds of your life you've wasted. nice. Worst activision game, I can't have a go at any of the early ones - even if the games aren't too great - they've got lovely boxes Ghostbusters 2 then, shameful movie tie in.

I've been toying with the idea for a while, of making an Atari vcs as big as I possibly can, by using really big inefficient old components (obv I'd have to stick with a few chips, maybe building it into a tv set. The possibilites are endless - enormous joysticks and paddle controllers, difficulty switches like those ones they use to krank juice into Frankensteins monster! What do you think?

you wouldnt need to make pirated game cds for an xbox mame, you'd just go online with the console and download rom files to the hard drive

Its not a heavy sixer. Its a PAL Atari-wong VCS unit. I suppose, because its aerial lead is hard wired, and the console IS getting on for 25, it could be a bit worn out.

If you stick a little ferris wheel in the mains in and get 12 tiny monkeys to run around in it, that usually works too

trick is to hold the stick left and redline in 1st on the countdown, then redline all the way, tapping left to wheelie into 3/4 redline when you're up in 4th. Either you're engine explodes or you get a great time

Anyway, just because it's shrinkwrapped, doesn't mean that its original shrinkwrap. I used to work at a big record/games store, we'd get some evil mad woman who'd refuse to take this copy of whatever Playstation game because it had been apparently used. We say "I'll get you a new one then". take it out back and shrinkwrap it. haha. So if we could do that, theres no reason why people selling old games can't shrinkwrap em to make a few extra cents off the deal. Its not hard. Anyhow, if it IS original shrinkwrap, you've GOTTA open it - nothing more retro than the fresh smell of a game thats been hermetically sealed for 20-odd years

I've just got really into Dragster tonight. After a fair bit of practice I've got my time down to 5.71 (which would earn me a badge and, I was amazed to see, beat Activisions house score in the manual). Just wondering, what kind of times are you guys pulling down nowadays? (Certainly better than mine - I'm not known for being good at games )
