  1. I played the original demo of Super Stardust HD. How is it now they have all the extra addon packs?
  2. KOTOR (which come to think of it is on the PC as well - ah well, it's a console exclusive) Panzer Dragoon Orta Crimson Skies (which, as far as I know, is quite different to the PC version) Um.. can't think of 5 games on the Xbox I liked Outrun 2 + Coast to Coast were SO much better on the Xbox than anything else, so they're almost exclusives.
  3. So what's the deal with 360 1080p then? I would have thought that unless you have an Elite with HDMi, you'd be depending on a VGA connection for 1080p. And even then, it'd be analog and most 1080p TVs wouldn't take it. Do any games support it natively?
  4. I find it interesting how unpopular in US the PS3 still is. I mean, this is pretty much the only active thread on the system. Still, can't begrudge the 360s popularity. Microsoft have really gone balls out for the last few years to make it the most successful American system since the 2600.
  5. Yeah, the Dreamcast. That could really have been so much more given time. I mean, look at the PS2. That was just a slightly up-specced uglier Dreamcast. Still, the VMUs were a pain in the ass but the idea was sound. Ha. Not a convincing argument, was it?
  6. I had a play with a hacked PSP a couple of weeks back. Impressive. That Dark Alex knows his stuff. Love the way you can upgrade the OS in exactly the same way as on a retail PSP. The SNES emulation wasn't exactly full speed but that could have been the emu. I was using. I'm unsure what to do, really. As a PS3 owner, I do like the cross functionality of the two systems, even if I don't use it so much. Is the emulation that good on homebrew? And what else can it run?
  7. Although Ms is doing well, though it's lead is far more pronounced in America, I'm certain they'll be the first to announce the next console. Sony and Ms are fighting the old technology war and (of course by simple virtue that it came out later) Sony is ahead in that respect, if only by a little. Don't get me wrong, it's not so bad as to really worry Ms, but I think as the PS3 gains momentum (as it's doing) after it's particularly disastrous launch, Ms will be the first to fire the shot across the bow. Nintendo won't be far behind. This Wii remote add on thingy is their 32x (albeit a little more successful). As the lowest common denominator gamer go inevitably HD (and remember, Nintendo have spent the last year or so farming an ever lower and more common denominator) they'll be dropping the new model. Although it's usually folly to second guess Nintendo hardware releases, I really don't think they'll be releasing anything as radical next round. They wanted to broaden gaming and they have, but now they have a lot of people who's very idea of a games console IS the Wii+remote. They need to keep those people. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the 'Wii Too'.
  8. Yeah. And they're bloody angry they weren't told about it for their current Star Wars game.
  9. And you can also download demos from other regions. They work fine too.
  10. I can see a whole remake of 'Sixth Sense' sourced from that one line.
  11. Even if the Wii WAS the same as a Gamecube, what bearing does that have on the games? As long as the hardware is competent, it's ripe for new games, surely. I would have thought on this site we'd know that.
  12. I've talked myself out of buying a Vectrex too many damn times. I really need to pick one up. I'm glad I justified my PS3 purchase. While the disc based games are indeed way too expensive, the download games are better and dirt cheap.
  13. Hmm. There does seem to be a fair few decent releases coming out for the Wii. I might have to get it out of the box again. I must admit, I pretty much retired it when the PS3 came along.
  14. No, it's a valid point though, I can see why you feel the game is spoiled. I felt the same way about Phantasy Star Online when the hackers got a hold of it. However, a mortage pay off is really nothing to worry about. And the fruit you took from other friend's town is fine too, that's how you play the game after all. It'd be a shame of it stopped you in your legitimate play of a game you like. I've pretty much 'completed' it as much as I care to. I have the biggest house payed off, a full museum (or dinosaur bones anyway, the rest seems like too much work) and all the fruit types, as well as a nicely decked out home. Don't really know where to go from there. Still, haven't hooked up online with anyone in a while.
  15. I totally agree with that definition. We need that on a plaque somewhere Lately it seems Nintendo (who I was really rooting for this round) are turning their back on ALL gamers of any kind. Their lineup seems to be focussed towards selling 'lifestyle' fakery to the easily persuaded.
  16. I don't believe you can have too many things on screen at once. I think video games should confuse and distract
  17. I've always held a bit of a candle for the Sega Saturn, on which Panzer Dragoon Saga is my favourite game. I must say, though, that the PS3 is rapidly becoming my favourite console ever. I just love the fact that every Thursday you get a load of new free (or really cheap) new stuff to play, be it demos or new games from independent studios. And I LOVE firmware updates. I like having a toy that keeps learning new tricks all the time.
  18. I very much doubt that Bioshock will get a ban. Although the violence level is certainly still high, the fantastic setting will put it in good stead.
  19. Oddly, the only one that ever really engaged me enough to really play through was Sonic R! I like the first level of Sonic 1 though.
  20. Well, I'm no fan of Windows, but it's still the most popular OS by a mile, bugs and all. There is a preference for the Playstation brand here, it has to be said, possibly (and I can only speak for the UK in this) that a lot of the mid 90s 'Playstation cool' emanates from our little land - ie. Wipeout and the Designer's Republic chic that went in it's wake. Even though it's obviously a Japanese brand, it feels very British because of that. Added to the fact that the PS1 and 2 have played primary host to the bulk of soccer games, the Playstation brand is the choice for the 'lowest common denominator gamer' (or scummy thieving prole). I think the only reason it's taken this long to pull ahead was the relative sparcity of key PS3 games and the lack of backwards compatibility (on all but the ridiculously expensive launch model, equivalent to $850 US!!). But now that the titles are appearing and PS2 games are too old to be relevant, it's pulling away. The 360's reliability issues have been a factor though. I loved the original Xbox and I really wanted the 360 since launch, but with the failure rate being so astronomically high, my 360 money stayed unspent and, I'm afraid to say, eventually went to Sony (even though I detested the PS2).
  21. I've never been a big Civ fan (or indeed any games of the genre) but I played the demo (on PS3, sorry) and I love it! Just involving enough for a busy 30 something who frankly doesn't have the time to lose himself in the 'full fat' Civ.
  22. I'm looking forward to Eternal Sonata for the PS3 (finally) although I wish they'd kept the original name, 'Trusty Bell' Sam n Max for the Wii and, yeah, Chrono Trigger for DS are going to be great too.
