  1. Ah - thanks for the tip; I tried again last night and was able to get all of them working by not jamming the carts in so far.
  2. Just picked up an Intellivision and about 20 carts and several manuals from a local seller for $100. Probably paid too much, but this is my first INTV - and they were asking $150 originally. About half the carts work at the moment... I'm sure most of the rest will once I clean the contacts good and proper.
  3. Looking for an original (OMG HUGE) Xbox; if it's modded, so much the better. But anything in working condition is fine.
  4. The most recent Retronauts was a reader mail episode, and one person wrote in to ask why their pre-NES coverage is so sparse. Their response was basically that they didn't grow up with Atari/Intellivision/etc. and therefore do not have memories to share. Anything they could say about it would be little more than dry internet research. Which is a valid point, but are guests verboten? I could wax nostalgic for hours on the 2600 and Commodore 64, and I'm sure there are others in their circle that have plenty of pre-NES experience. They did namecheck Atari Age, but mentioned that the forums aren't exactly fond of Retronauts
  5. I can't say I'm not excited about this #LawnmowerMan2016 https://t.co/lHk6qpcwcb

It's gonna be funny hearing about all the dumb people getting hit by cars, walking off embankments, being left by their gfs/bfs etc because of this shit hahaha

Would have made more sense, and would have brought on fewer tears, if you'd said that AOL was to shut down AOL.

Version 2 was the best version overall. Winamp went off the rails a bit after that, bulking up the program with unnecessary features.

  8. OK, one mystery solved. I needed to get the 64 bit SIO2PC drivers. I'll check on OSB games for the atarimax cart as well - thanks.
  9. So I dug out my 800 last night after years of sitting in the closet. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to recognize my 810 drive, or the SIO2USB, and while my AtariMax flash cart will boot, none of the games will load. I've tried multiple SIO cables, no luck. BASIC and AtariWriter carts seem to work OK. With no cart installed, I just get the Memo Pad. If I have BASIC inserted and type DOS, same thing. With the Atarimax flash cart, I have Rich's Multi-Cart installed, and I can browse through the titles, but launching them does nothing. Any ideas? Is this fixable or am I up a creek? I don't have any other systems to test on, other than a 130XE that I can't find the power cord for.
  10. That's it! Thanks Urchlay... I appreciate it Looks like there's a copy of the ad in question here: http://atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?MENU...VERSION_ID=2358
  11. Sorry in advance for the vague description, but I'm working with 20 year old memories at this point. There was a game advertised in the November 1983 issue of Compute! - it was a full page ad with an attractive woman and a caption along the lines of "Would you risk everything to save her?" The game itself was (as far as I can remember) an text/graphics adventure game along the lines of the old Penguin/Sierra adventures with a few lines of text and vector based graphics taking up the remainder of the screen. One of the screenshots had some kind of lion-thing sitting on a throne. I'm pretty sure it was advertised as being available for the Atari 800, but it may have been an Apple II game as well. I've scoured mobygames, without any luck. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!
  12. Just completed trades with: cyberfluxor yorgle Both were excellent to deal with, and shipped very fast
  13. OK, Yorgle was kind enough to set me up with an 800XL... now, I need some cables Specifically, an SIO cable as well as a video cable. I've checked ebay and other suppliers, but the shipping prices are completely unreasonable for a >1lb cable. Anyone have extras lying around they'd be willing to sell, without marking up the shipping prices above the actual product cost?
  14. Gotcha. I guess I was thinking more in terms of user-installable mods, a la 8bitdomain's offerings.
  15. So what's the latest on modding a 2600 to output stereo? I've been out of the loop for a while.
  16. I always enjoyed Defender... I knew at 10 years old it wasn't an "arcade perfect" port, but fun in it's own right. It was close enough to the original for my liking.
  17. All of 'em... my first exposure to the Epyx "Games" series was via the Commodore 64... so the 2600 ports naturally pale in comparison.
  18. Well, you had a good point until you decided to quote Crowley
  19. ^^ I'm credited as an "external tester" or somesuch for several Activision games... does that count? http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/v...veloperId,9858/
  20. Two notebook computers for sale - If I have no takers, they go up on ebay this weekend PowerBook G4 (12-inch 1.33GHz) - 768MB RAM, OS X 10.4, iLife 06, and extra battery. In excellent condition, minor scuffing on a back corner. $750 shipped (continental US) for the entire bundle, or $650 for the original bundle + extra memory (OS X 10.3, iLife 04, no extra battery). The standard included battery is a new replacement from Apple due to the Sony battery recall. See Photos Also for sale - Compaq Presario 2199US Notebook. It's been a little more "loved" than the powerbook... dropped once, which caused part of the case to pop up around the power button, and the trackpad buttons require a little more effort to activate than they used to. Otherwise still works fine. $325 shipped. See Photos
  21. Another point I don't think I've seen mentioned... the NES sold over 60 million units, while the 2600 topped out around 25 mil. So you're automatically going to have over twice the userbase to get hit by the nostalgia/collecting bug.
