  1. Actually, you can buy them from Protovision in Europe and from the Modernity Group (Greg Nacu) in North America. I picked mine up from Greg at a Commodore expo and it's a sweet piece of hardware. The only thing to look out for is the fact that it's not compatible with Wheels (GEOS upgrade) or most games that haven't been cracked specifically to work on it. OK - thanks... when you say most games won't work that haven't been cracked specifically for it, does that include single-file programs?
  2. I liked the ending... as long as they wrap it up *eventually*, I'm ok with an ambiguous ending this time around.
  3. Well, I actually have three 2600s lying around (plus a 2600 adapter for the 5200) - I'd just like to get the 7800 working 100%
  4. Yeah, I saw IDE64, but it doesn't look like something you can purchase. I've never even touched a soldering iron, so building one is kind of out of my reach for now
  5. That sucks... are there any other sources for standalone C64 hard drives? The C64HDD deal sounds OK, but having to set up a PC just to act as a hard drive sounds a little too kludgy for my tastes.
  6. I'd have to go with the original being the superior product. There's no place for a HD in the new one, that ends the discusion as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion. -S Yup... I'm hanging on to my original PS2 simply for HD Loader/HD Advance (for legal reasons only, of course). The benefit of having all your games on a hard drive without having to swap discs is great.
  7. Oh, I've already tried cleaning the cartridge slot with rubbing alchohol - it helped somewhat, but the problem is still there.
  8. OK, got a 7800 off ebay, works fine with all the 7800 cartridges that came with it, and most of the Atari-published 2600 titles. But third party titles are a completely different story - most will not start up properly, unless I wedge something between the back of the cartridge slot and the cartridge itself. Is this something that is fixable, or would I be better off just getting another 7800?
  9. Hi folks - I'm looking to purchase a (working) Commodore 128D - anyone out there with one they'd like to part with?
  10. Do you have 1080i enabled in the Xbox Dashboard?
  11. Hackability aside, has anyone else noticed that the sound (particularly the noise channel) seems to be a little off? Or did I just get a defective one?
  12. Yeah, I didn't even think about Night Driver, but I would've loved to see that one, as well as the original Atari Footbal.
  13. Insignificant? IMO, it's one of the only truly "classic" games on the disc.
  14. You're probably correct - I noticed the same thing with the 2600 Super Breakout "game start" sound - the three notes are distinctly slower than the original. OK, I looked into this. I've made audio captures of both my original 2600 and Atari Anthology. Super Breakout: It's hard to compare directly since it plays one of a random selection of start sounds. However, the tempo seems the same to my ear. The duration of the sound measures the same in Wave Studio (about 0.65 seconds). Here are the samples I used, reseting several times for about 10 seconds: Actual Atari 2600 playing Super Breakout (sample is about 1MB) Atari Anthology playing Super Breakout (sample is about 1MB) Yeah, that's the speed I expected it to be, but on my Xbox, it's significantly slower... here's a sample: ]My Xbox startup It's not a big deal or anything, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going insane [/url]
  15. What's the deal? I'm trying to "buy two and save" on their website, yet whenever I try to purchase more than one it says I have exceeded the maximum number allowable. Oh well...
  16. I've been playing this for nearly a week straight now, and my only issue thus far is with the card shuffling sound in Blackjack. It simply sounds like it's at half speed in comparison to the original cart. You're probably correct - I noticed the same thing with the 2600 Super Breakout "game start" sound - the three notes are distinctly slower than the original.
  17. I was pretty disappointed with MAT2 as well - if you're not a fighter fan, there's not a lot on here for you. Also, a lot of these games were released after I had lost interest in arcades, so there's not that nostalgia drive happening.
  18. Out of curiosity, why did you decide not to go with Digital Eclipse? They generally do very good work. Not that I'm complaining about the Activision Anthology, as it turned out very nicely
  19. Seems fairly accurate to me - some of the sound effects are off (Circus Atari comes to mind), but they seem to have gotten the gameplay and graphics right. The paddle control is "meh", but otherwise pretty good.
  20. The local Best Buy had at least 25 of them in the PC section. The guy in the Gamestop next door hadn't heard of it
  21. Right here! I bought the Ms Pac Man stick on impulse, plugged it in, and realized it sucked. So I bought a copy of Namco Museum which, while not perfect, is much better than the Ms Pac Man stick, and considering the number of games, is far better. OK, there's no Xevious, but I can live with that
  22. lol... of the 15 cartridges that I have owned for 20+ years (all that's left from my original collection), I have *one* cart without a label. Sure enough, it's Frogger
  23. I had an unresponsive fire button on my trackball - I cleaned the contacts both with an eraser and rubbing alcohol - worked like a charm.
  24. Wow - glad I let the commodore64.net domain name go when I did
  25. Hooray! Someone else appreciates Gopher! Wow - that brings back memories.... completely forgot about that game until just now.
