  1. I hope you're being sarcastic
  2. The only one I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned is E.T.
  3. I recently picked up a second heavy sixer, and while cleaning it, noticed it did not have the hole for a channel select switch... now my other one doesn't have the switch, but the hole with the "channel select" text is there... also, the coloring of the text on the front is different as well... one is more orange-ish, while the other is more yellow. Are these just standard variations of the original CX2600 model?
  4. So are there any left? I PMed Lee a few days ago, never heard back.
  5. I thought shovelware was along the lines of this definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shovelware "his is commonly used to describe software on CD-ROMs, whose large capacity inspires producers to fill them with useless clutter without regard to integration issues or usability so they can advertise the comprehensiveness of the product. The term is coined with semantic analogy to "freeware", "shareware", etc. Rather than hand-picking software and carefully placing it in the collection, the analogy goes, the publisher has indiscriminately "shoveled" the software on to the CD. Hence, shovelware."
  6. "The E.T. video game was unplayable, and five million of the six million game cartridges that were produced never sold." Unplayable? Funny, I managed to play and win it several times. And while it's true they didn't sell nearly as many carts as they made, I don't think a million copies sold qualifies as "snot"
  7. Heh... I've only been collecting a couple of months (2600 & 5200), but I've managed to rack up about 15 of them... four aren't working though... I need to rebuild them eventually.
  8. Combat by far... when I first got my Atari way back when, all I had was Space Invaders and Combat. Space Invaders was fine, but my only other cartridge was just gathering dust because there was no one to play it with!
  9. People I've had good experiences with: classics walter_J64bit Chris-in-NJ bosgameboi
  10. what's the advantage of installing the 4-port BIOS into a 2-port system?
  11. I haven't called yet, but if I don't hear from him this week, I'll definitely call. Let me know how your call goes - thanks
  12. Not to mention Lucasarts. I'm willing to bet they are as litigious as the Tramiel-era Atari. Lucasarts has loosened their grip quite a bit when it comes to use of their properties. The Troopers mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 has been in development for a long time and is quite popular. And you also have the new remakes of Maniac Mansion and Zak McCraken, which are alive and well http://people.freenet.de/lucasfangames/man...c/games_eng.htm
  13. Has anyone dealt with 8bitdomain recently? I ordered the Svideo mod from them a few weeks ago, and have yet to receive it... I emailed them last week, but haven't received a reply.
  14. Heh - I'll wager that the vast majority never even played it
  15. It took me over a decade to realize (via the internet) that I was wrong for enjoying E.T. Go figure.
  16. Raiders of the Lost Ark (took me forever to figure that the *right* stick moves Indy)
  17. Heck yeah - I played Super Cycle to death. But those load times were murder - I think the races were shorter than the time it took for the new course to load
  18. My personal fave (besides the CX40) is the Wico Boss.
  19. I've also heard that the Flashback we know about is the first of three similar items. But that's about it.
  20. I dunno, my VCR still blinks "12:00" No, that's pretty sweet... sign me up for one as well.
  21. How easy would it be for a non-technically-minded individual (such as myself) to use this as a multicart?
  22. I found one last night, accidentally. It was Christmas of 80 or 81, whenever I first got my Atari. Funny thing is, I could've sworn I had a heavy sixer, but in the photo it's definitely not. I've also got a photo somewhere of me and my Pitfall high score (I never did receive that patch )

    Word Zapper

Ah yes, Word Zapper - I remember buying this game for $5 in a clearance bin at the local drugstore. Horrible game
  24. Heh... my brother had a similar experience. Won a local Starfox competition, wore the t-shirt he won to school that next week, and was laughed at by his friends
