Atari Flashback Classics for the XB1/PS4

Vol. 3 is available for digital purchase in the U.S. on Xbox One. Unsure about any other platforms. -
Such a shame. While there were many talented SID composers, Ben - along with Martin Galway - are the two names that immediately spring to mind when I think about C64 music.

Got one kid playing Snokie on the C64, the other playing Super Space Invaders on the SMS. Parenting win.

Who knows... that's what was initially funded, then they changed course mid-stream to work on the mini.

Think I'll wait a while to see if the various issues get resolved before taking the plunge.
-
I really like the enhancements that come along with the Xbox One X and BC; I'm playing through KOTOR at 9x it's original resolution, and it's a nice upgrade

There is some evidence that shows the brain is not fully developed until the mid-20s.

1982 was the Vic's best selling year. While the C64 was release the second half of the year, it wasn't until late '83 that it really started taking off.

How about a dedicated place for people who just post videos

Twilight Years? -
Kind of silly for him to suggest the Vic-20 was anything other than a games computer. What sort of serious (or otherwise) work could you do on a 22 column display with 3K of RAM? I'm sure someone, somewhere wrote their dissertation on a Vic-20, but c'maaaaaaaaannnn....

I purchased a Pentium 75 system in the fall of '95 to replace a 486SX. I still had a Commodore 64 kicking around as well.

I bought a truckload of old hardware from a guy on craigslist several months ago. I've sifted through it and either sold, discarded, or refurbished most of it. But this motherboard has me scratching my head. It's not your typical ATX profile, and I haven't been able to Google up any info on it. Any ideas?

Ultima V is the one I keep wanting to go back to. The C64 version is fine, but 8 disk sides and no music hurts. Playing it on the C128 with two drives is better, but still a slog (and the "step" sound effect really affects the music, IMO). The Amiga version restarts "Stones" every time you perform certain actions, which is maddening. After messing with all the various ports, for my money the best one is the MS-DOS version with Pix's MIDI patch installed.

I have a MiST, and enjoy messing around with it from time to time. It's nice for goofing around with systems I'll probably never own the actual hardware for (ST, ZX Spectrum, etc.). It works fine, both PAL and NTSC on the three monitors I've tried it with - a Dell 2001FP flat panel, a late model Compaq CRT, and a Sony PVM (though that requires the DB15 -> SCART adapter and turning off the scandoubler in the mist.INI file). I have a couple more VGA compatible monitors, but I haven't tested the MiST with it. The main thing to keep in mind is that while there are lots of cores to mess around with, they are all in various states of completeness. And development has mostly dried up in favor of the MiSTer. I bought mine about 6 months ago, and don't regret it.

New Eurogamer article: The retro gaming industry could be killing video game preservation. All about Hyperkin and other retro-hardware manufacturers profiting from open source emulators. It briefly mentions that Hyperkin has licensed Stella, but neglects to point out it's an ancient version (unless some deal has been struck with the current maintainers that I'm unaware of...)

Kickstarter -- New System Shock game

Nope. Some individual projects may offer refunds, but generally speaking, your money is considered to be a donation with nothing guaranteed.
