Stellar Track: Incredibly Bad or Incredibly Underrated?
Atari-Jess replied to jbanes's topic in Atari 2600
Sounds like a challenge -
I don't know about you, but I feel that the box art of games is but a mere shadow of the great box art of the past. Perhaps it is because today the game content replaces the need for such art, but I can't help but sigh at the sheer awesomeness (in its original sense) that the Atari produced cartridges give me. Take for instance Super Breakout. "my God, it's full of stars" anyone? Looking at some of these masterpieces literally leaves me breathless for the sheer intellectual depth that sparks my imagination. I wish I could have prints of the originals on my walls. Even more mundane titles like Video Chess, Code Breaker, Surround, AND BASIC FREAKIN PROGRAMMING. These are games that by no means are spectacular titles, yet have amazing box art. I wonder where all of these art works ended up (maybe Curt Vendel could shed some light on this subject, surely he might have some documentation over their whereabouts or at least, final resting places)

Go is also considered a much, much harder game to program an AI for, relative to chess say. a 9x9 grid is much easier. 5x5 "go" has been solved (black wins in a perfect game) the simplicity of go results in the deepest complexities for logical thinking. Go is based on pattern finding and human like qualities, making it an excellent game thats impossible to make long lasting strategy. Go strategy is very dynamic, what was considered a good strategy 100 years ago could easily be thought of as silly, just as 100 years from now modern strategy will also be useless. Go strategy = everchanging fashion. The VCS version I would feel would result in a very "video chess" like game and should be a decent challenge given enough time to think about a move

Personally I would scold the girlfriend for letting you buy 360, then I'd pawn it and buy a Nintendo Wii. But that's just one man's opinion. --- Seriously, Table Tennis sounds like a good game, I mean cmon. It's pong at its modern-est! -
ATTENTION COLECOVISION OWNERS: YOUR COLECOVISION IS POISONOUS, PLEASE DESTROY IT AND ANY ADAM EQUIPMENT YOU MAY OWN. THAT IS ALL. (this applies to me too as I own a fair bit of coleco stuff )

Has this happened to you? (lost your save file)
Atari-Jess replied to Bivotar's topic in Modern Console Discussion
It happened for me all too often in the Legend of Zelda, and a number of Pokemon games from the original Red and Blue days. -
Nostalgia? That's my most modern hardware you're talking about My point exactly, "ancient", but not really all that old.

I have so many scratches and worn paint edges on my DS I like to consider it more grey than platinum It's not *really* this bad, but its humourous

Anyone Dumped the FB1 to a NES file?
Atari-Jess replied to Shawn's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Curt Vendel wouldn't allow it, he'd ask Albert to take it down so fast your head would fall off. -
Don't tempt them, it's illegal.

What should I use to clean the contacts on my carts?
Atari-Jess replied to 2600lover's topic in Atari 2600
Liquid Sky told me he uses his polident tablets to clean them. -
Thats just the XEGS Besides the 5200 was just a 400 and by say 83, there would be little reason to push it if they also had to push the XL line.

90% of my collection has been thrifts, but just about all my acquisitions in the past year or two have resorted to online deals The thrifts are dry.

The problem is that I'm a nintendo fan, and any system that gets "saved" post 85 is an attempt to "damage" nintendo in my eyes. Anything before that its harder decision because it makes a mess of Atari. I'd have liked to have seen more Atari support for the 2600jr during the mid to late 80s I suppose.

all my copies are handles, didn't even know there was a standard...

Please take comfort in the fact it is broken right now (I kid, I kid. you did a good thing)

Without ET, who would have been the fall guy?

The objectified icon of 80s decadence! -
Well then it didn't really "come with" anything. The jumper pak should always be in there if an expansion pak is not.

Unfortunately yes. You see, the more you eyeball such visuals, the greater risk of having sexual performance issues with your signifigant other. I'm sorry Moycon, it may just be too late for you.
