Wow Omega, that's really a fantastic collection and achievement. Good job. If you're like me, when you reach a milestone like this it's bittersweet. Satisfaction that you've finally achieved your goal, but a little sadness that the chase is over. Lots more to chase out there though Again, well done.

Market Price for Some Odd Finds? (some pics included)
shadowdoggie replied to dommie's topic in Atari 2600
Sure, I'll buy 'em. Can I assume you're throwing in the common games? Three total, one sealed and two open, correct? Please PM me with total. Tks! -
You can thank me for the 2nd highest $16 bid, trying to get that one on the cheap Still a good deal for you if you can get it working. However, I see your $16.50 with this eBay Auction -- Item Number: 180529156312 ($16.40) and raise you this eBay Auction -- Item Number: 330445443413 (8 joysticks + 33 games)

Market Price for Some Odd Finds? (some pics included)
shadowdoggie replied to dommie's topic in Atari 2600
I recently won an auction for a binder with 8 common games in it for $7 + $9 shipping, and honestly I felt like I paid too much. A collector looking for one of these in mint condition might pay you up to $15 for the brand new one, but used ones really are not in high demand. I happen to really like them and have about a dozen or so myself. -
You are in a lair, with a dragon surrounding you on all sides. A path leads south.

I think it's all circumstantial. Were they being sold with the original system box? How many games were included in the auction? What games were included? Any rare ones? What day and time did the auction end? How many pictures did the seller include in their auction? How well did the seller describe the items and did he/she list the games? Was Atari in the news this week? I sell quite a few of these systems, as many of us do, and these are some of the key reasons why an auction will sell higher than another auctions. It also depends on how many 'new' collectors decided to go on ebay that week and buy an Atari. While I'd agree that Heavy Sixers are more in demand than other systems, that doesn't always translate into higher bids. Here are some of my more recent auctions: Light Atari Sixer + 30 games - $52.00 Light Sears Sixer + 40 games - $106.50 4 Switch + Bobafett Shell + 40 Games $68.77 Two Heavy Sixers + 44 games - $72.05 Sears Heavy Sixer + 31 games - $50.23 Vader + 32 games - $51.50 BOXED 4 Switch + 31 games - $167.50 Sears 6 Switch + 30 games - $40.99 So, as you can see, there is a ton of fluctuation and it's all based on numerous factors. In my opinion, it's more about the questions listed at the top of this response, than it is about the Atari model being sold.

Which came first: 01 Combat colored or silver border?

You may want to check here Combat -
I have a 600xl that I'm willing to sell. Here is some info on it... ====================================================== It's only the computer, no power cord. I tested the 600XL with my 800XL power cord and coax and here are the results. When I plug in a game cartridge, the game comes on immediately. When I don't plug in a game the screen is black. Is this normal for a 600XL to just stay black? With my 800XL it loads DOS. ====================================================== Please PM me if interested. Thanks!

what do you think forum..should i buy?
shadowdoggie replied to abbadon665's topic in Auction Central
If the system was really MINT, then some collectors would be willing to pay $75 for it, but he's selling 26 game with it, right? He played with them in the system didn't he? So, one man's mint is another man's used system. Even if it indeed comes with the original box, and it too is in great condition with all of the original paperwork and filler components, it still seems a little high. I'd say a boxed Junior in excellent condition with 26 games should sell for $35-$50. If it doesn't include the original box, it's way overpriced. -
Jacob, I don't believe the Vaders have the '..most space in the console slot', assuming you're referring to the game slot. In my experience, the Juniors have enough room to accommodate any game, but try loading a 1987 or later Atari release into your Vader. You'll find that the 1987 releases barely squeeze into the Vader, and the 1988 releases are even worse. I used to use my Vader as my testing system, but due to the trouble with certain games not fitting into the slot very well (without scratching or tearing the label) I've gone back to using one of my Juniors. I've confirmed this with other Vader owners, but I'm sure there could be some Vaders out there that don't have this trouble.

I recently sold akator a box of goodies which included a nintendo power cord. I'm not sure which system it went to, but it may be worth PMing him to see which one it is and if he's going to use it.

Ite, (Regarding Atari) The games you were able to pickup will likely fill some holes in some collector's collections. The value is going to depend on the condition and label variation. For example, is the Venture the Coleco version or the Red label? Both labels are rated a 2, but someone out there may be looking for a loose Red label, $2 max. You should be able to get $10-$20 for Up N' Down, again depending on the condition. Beamrider is one of the less common Activision games, and someone will likely pay $5-10 for it (condition). A game like Smurf is fairly common, and you won't find much interest in it by itself, except from me For some strange reason, I've never received this one in all the auctions I've won on ebay. If it's actually Smurfs Save the Day, it'll be worth much more (~$40 - 50). Worm War, $2-3. From what I've seen, the Atari Jr. appears to be 'slightly' less valuable then a woodgrain or vader system, but it really depends on whose looking for a system at the time you're selling and the reason why they want to pickup a system. Everyone has their own preferences, so you may find someone willing to pay even more for a Jr. on ebay simply because that's the system they had as a kid or they're trying to fill a hole in their collection. The pluses of the Jr. include: most games fit nicely inside of it and it's nice and compact. However, it's more fragile and IMHO a little less sought after, but there are many factors, as stated above. If you're interested in a quick sell, I'll offer $25 paypal shipped for Up N' Down and Smurf, if the labels are in very good condition.

Ebay is incredibly unfair and I'm also on the verge of abandoning it. I never told this story here, but I once sold a practically mint 7800 w/40+ games to a buyer who used Buy It Now - $199.00. The very next morning, while on my way to the UPS store 8:00am, I get an email from him "I'm expecting you to send the Atari today, as it's for my girlfriend's b-day" 'Red Flag'. I assured him that it would be shipped that day and I even included a birthday card in the box. Writes to me a few days later, said the item is all bashed up and he wants $100 off. I had a very bad feeling so I told him to send it back to me immediately for a full refund. He says stuff like "Come on, you know it's not really worth the $199 anyway, just give me $100 off." Short Story: I ask him to start a claim w/Paypal and we'll let them decide. In the mean time, he goes and wins 4 other 7800 auctions. Paypal sides with him. He sends me back some 7800, not mine, that looked like he'd taken a hammer to it. I video taped opening up the box because I had a bad feeling and sure enough the thing was dented, smashed, and non-working. Paypal and ebay did absolutely nothing when I reported it. It was about as made as I've ever been. Sellers have almost no protection at all.

That was very helful. Thank you.

When I put in a source cart and a copy cart and then press start, the "USED" light turns on. Can I assume this is referring to the fact that the copy cart already has data on it?

I haven't seen that before either.

Interesting 2600 System Box - Refurbished System
shadowdoggie replied to shadowdoggie's topic in Atari 2600
What came off was, more or less, a cap. The switch is still there underneath the shiny metal cap. -
Year's ago, I made an impulse purchase from ebay and got a boxed 800xl w/disk drive and approx. 300 or so disks full of games/software. It was about $325 including shipping. Was that way too much? Just curious in case I ever decide to sell.

I'm going to bump this. Please let me know if you know of someone who makes game labels. My T-shaped cart is completely blank and needs a new one printed. Tks!

Yard saling today, found 3 nifty games in Spokane
shadowdoggie replied to bobotech's topic in Atari 2600
Unknown probably means exactly what it sounds like. There isn't much data on it so giving it a rarity number would just be a complete guess. Do we get to see any pics? -
Go ahead and make the switch. Can you imagine how many systems out there already have mixed and matched parts? All you're doing is restoring a beautiful car by keeping the motor running with non-orignal replacement parts. Seems perfectly acceptable to me, but you're the one that needs to be OK with it.

More added to the Box!
