  1. The 45 or so Pirate eprom games I have, all have white tape over the chip, but I have a feeling that over time the light may have found a way through because none of these chips work. Even worse, the working Pal ver of Mouse Trap doesn't work in either of my ZIF socket carts, so those don't work either. The good news is if I can find a way to erase what's on the old pirate chips, I may be able to copy new games on to them.
  2. Thanks for all of the great information. I have two carts with ZIF sockets, but I've never been able to get the games to work, so it looks like I'll finally find out if it's the games or the carts that are the issue.
  3. For crap sake, how many times am I going to forget to attach a pic in one thread? Is the thing the arrow is pointing to considered the eprom (Sad I don't know this by now). Should I be able to pull that out and replace it with another?
  4. I thought that exposing it to the light in my fish tank might work, but I still have Mouse Trap. I opened up the copy cart (see pic). Is the thing the arrow is pointing to considered the eprom (Sad I don't know this by now). Should I be able to pull that out and replace it with another? I have a bunch of pirate games that I've never been able to test and they would fit perfectly in here but the 'eprom' doesn't want to come out and I don't want to pull too hard and break it. Tks!
  5. Well, I'm so glad I lifted up the sticker to find some old Englishman's pubic hair stuck to the other side. That was just fantastic. Can't tell you how happy I was about that. So exposing it to the sun's UV rays isn't enough, huh? Yes, I walked outside and pointed the thing at the sky and yelled "You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!". The vitamin E is good for your teeth I hear. Guess I'll have to find a good UV lamp.
  6. Trouble? Did you do what BigO suggested? If joysticks work in the port, we can eliminate the port as an issue. If the button appears 'feels' ok when you press it in then it is likely a wiring issue which may not be a big issue. Take the screws out, open it up and look for obvious wiring issues. Still nothing? Buy new, but keep these for parts.
  7. It really wasn't about copying all of my games as much as it was about just trying it out once to get a feel for how it worked. I think you're correct about the 2K/4K limitation though.
  8. Thanks A.J., I plugged it in and it seems to be OK. It only came with one copy cart, as you can see, but my assumption was that I could re-write over anything that was already on this cart, however it appears that you can only write to the cart once. Can anyone confirm this? I may be stuck with the PAL version of Mouse Trap and the difficult proposition of having to find more blank carts.
  9. OK, I just finished swapping the top halves, and everything worked fine. I'm not sure why Shadow's wouldn't allow him to swap, but mine were totally interchangable. Damn you Shadow! What kind of name is Shadow anyway
  10. Damnit Shadow, you're going to make me dig out those units and take both of them apart just to prove I'm right. DAMN YOU! I could be wrong, only 90% sure. I'll let you know in a few
  11. Anyone make labels around here? I tried Al, but he must be really busy Is there someone else I should contact? Tks!
  12. You could likely fix that 'ol bubbly with a hair dryer. The one on the left is not in the best shape. Would you take $25?
  13. Be sure to swap out the bezel too if the cracked version has the better bezel
  14. Its a light sixer with speaker vents and a channel select switch. The stamp is on under the very top of the atari, a bit to the right from the cartrige port. I knew they were for speakers! Sorry for the tangent but does anyone have any links to Atari history information about that? If you search, you should be able to find a bunch of threads on the speaker vents and some of the history behind how they were to be used. And, regarding the stamp, I think this Atari may have been a little special, because I've never seen that before on any Atari I've had in my possession.
  15. Yes. They are interchangable.
  16. I recently spent a bit to get this unit shipped over from England. It's a Unimex Duplicator SP 280 and it allows you to make back-up copies of your games. You'd stick the game you want to copy in the Master Slot and then stick a copy cart like the one seen in the photo in the other slot. I have a few question I'm hoping someone can help me answer. 1. All of these are considered PAL correct? All Made in Germany? 2. Did they sell with a power cord or were you expected to use your Atari A/C adaptor? 3. Since this is PAL and came from Europe, is it safe to use my NTSC / U.S. A/C adaptor? 4. Will it only copy PAL games? 5. What will happen if I try to copy an NTSC game? 6. The Atari Controller Rarity Guide website, or whatever it's called said that the rarity level is a 9. Is this accurate? Thank you for your help.
  17. I thought it was a refurbished console, It looks very clean and shiny... Yeah, I know, I thought the same thing. Either they didn't get completely finish fixing this unit, bad QA, or it just died since. They definitely made some modifications to it. The two switches are mirror shiny, and were obvious replacements. One came off really easily, the other would probably come off with a little effort. The seller has been really cool and wants to give me a working unit (or more). He said he's keeping the Sega systems by the way. I thought the International AC Adaptor was kind of neat. I hadn't seen one like that before.
  18. The paper is normal, but where exactly are you seeing that stamp? I've never seen that. What type of unit is it?
  19. It may be difficult to see, but 'Atari' replaced the 4 switch woody bezel with a vader bezel, and two of the switches have new looking caps. Unfortunately, the system isn't working, but it was the box I was interested in anyway.
  20. No, he had three, but said this was the last one. He actually threw in some free Odyssey 2 games too
  21. For those who may have missed this one eBay Auction -- Item Number: 270592497501, I was able to pick it up for pretty cheap, especially since the seller was right down the road. I've never seen a 2600 system box like this before and was wondering if anyone had any information on it. Here's the story from the auction: This particular vendor who I bought it from (this was 10 years ago remember) was selling off his inventory because his business was hit hard during the economic recession from the Tech Boom (yeah, it's been over 10 years!) In any case, he said he had these units (there were 30 others) in his ware house along with a bunch of other "crap" as he called it (he had dozens of Sega Master System III units in the box, brand new). He said these Atari 2600 units were customer returns that Atari had fixed. Apparently they decided to box them in these very simple containers and sell them cheap as "REFURB" units. I'm confused however because one of them s a 6-switch, and the other one I have is a 4 switch. One comes with PacMan and the other comes with Asteroids...
  22. Me too. But I'm offering bad money. So if you're interested in B A D money, sell me your loaner cart. Buy my B A D money.... Suckers!!!! -- Precious Roy
