I did a search on this but couldn't really find anything...
For the first time, I tried to play some paddle games like Super Breakout and Warlords on my 7800. However, the paddle controllers wouldn't work. The fire button works but not the rotation. I tried the same games and controllers on my six-switch and four-switch and everything works fine.
Does anyone have any idea why paddles wouldn't work on a 7800? Am I missing something simple?
Thanks!

Okay...Word.

I am SO SICK of the "urbanization" of anything and everthing. Nothing wrong with things that are "urban," but does EVERYTHING have to be "urban?"
ACK!

Nah, don't burn it. That's awesome.
The fact that the ghost DOES have eyes and is not flickering balances everything out.

EA just keeps showing themselves to be more and more cowardly and unethical. First, the horrendous treatment of employees and now THIS!
Grow a set, EA, and let competition strengthen the industry.
I do get a bit of a smile, though, to realize how much of a bite Sega's games must be taking out of EA's profits. Makes me all warm inside. I hope that Sega's games can withstand this blow, somehow.
Bad form, EA.

"Tagged versions." How lame.
Also, is anyone else just a bit disappointed that Ninendo's main use of the second screen so far is to add alternative "touch" controls to the games? I'll take solid, corporal control mechanisms anyday.
Also, how long will it take before all those lower DS screens are rubbed to a nice scratchy, hazy finish from all that "touch control?"
Only ten games is also disappointing. They've "upped the bar" with the new Atari Anthologies for xbox and ps2. There's no going back, Atari.

With all the x-in-1 joysticks hitting the shelves, it becomes all the more apparent that there is a glaring hole in the market. Nintendo.
It seems that Nintendo could rake in the bucks by producing a quality, arcade-perfect 5 or 6-in-1 joystick with games like Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Donkey Kong 3, Popeye (could be copyright issues), Mario Bros., etc.
With a quality product and Nintendo's colorful, highly recognizable characters all over the box it seems like a no-brainer.
Does anyone know if Nintendo has any plans for something like this before the bottom of x-in-1 market falls out?

Also...after playing the 6-in-1 stick more this weekend, I have a couple of thoughts.
1)Though the versions of these Konami games are "off" from the arcade, they are still fun versions of the games to play. I'd prefer the arcade versions but these do seem to be faithful to the NES versions of these games.
2) The Konami stick, ergonomically speaking, gets my "crappiest stick of the year award." Did they do ANY playtesting on this before committing it to production? The stick itself is too big to be comfortable. The shape of the base unit is very uncomfortable as well. It has fairly sharp corners that dig into the palm of your hand pretty quicky. Ouch.

Why did Majesco make the standalone, anyway? Did they think the Frogger brand was powerful enough to trump the unit right next to it with 5 additional games for the exact same price? This has been my number one question! Why would a company do this unless the version of Frogger on the stand-alone stick is superior in some way to the version on the 6-in-1? Apparently, it's not.
Why not just put all assets into the 6-in-1 and put the packaging emphasis on Frogger just like the Namco sticks did with Pacman and Ms. Pacman. There's no mistaking what games are the "stars" on those sticks. It would be the same with Frogger.
I still don't get it and my curiosity on the matter is killing me...
Why? Why?! Why?!!!

"...single owner?"

After reading all this, I will definitely be picking this up for xbox and not bothering with the pc version.
It seems with the pc version, you are basically paying for the right to play the game and nothing more if they can prohibit you from actually owning your copy of the software and doing as you please with it when you are finished with the game.
Unbelievable. I hope that the console business never goes this route. However, it probably will with time...which would bite, big time. How would you like to be told that you can't buy old 2600 carts because they were registered to a sinle owner?

Wow, how did I miss this thread? I picked up the Frogger only one last week at Walley World. If I knew that there was a 6-in-1 with Frogger I would have looked around some more.
How accurate is the stand-alone Frogger to the arcade? Do the sound effects and music match the arcade's?
"Dying" to know....
I'm trying to figure out if the version of Frogger in the 6-in-1 is identical to the version on the stand-alone Frogger stick or different...possibly justifying the need for entirely separate stick.

Does anybody recommend one racing wheel over another?
I'm looking for a racing wheel that will work with all three of the newer systems. What's your favorite?
-
If I remember correctly the six-switchers and the 2600 jrs actually have a better picture and more vibrant colors than the 4-switchers. I was skeptical until I picked up a six-switch model and compared it to the color and picture on my 4-switch. Wow! What a difference.

I'd love to see the old Tomy classic handheld game, Blip, converted to a TV Games type joystick that you could play on the tv. The best part is that it might not even take batteries...just wind it up and let the fun begin.
Blip on the big screen. I can dream, right?

It looks like they have the Star Raiders pad there for 7.95 each. A fellow board member may be able to hook you up with one for less, tho.

...is where I usually buy stuff when I don't want to mess with Ebay or want to buy a batch of stuff without paying for shipping on separate items.

I agree. The Colecovision is worth the hassle of putting together a complete system. It's one of my favorites and no vintage console collection is complete without it...IMHO.

I used these guys not too long ago to pack and transport a pinball machine across the country for me. They specialize in transporting big, collectible items.

Highly recommended. My machine arrived in great condition.

HEY, Thanks everyone!!!
That really helps. Sounds like I should run out and buy a copy of Katamari Damancy regardless.
There are quite a bit more "must have" ps2 exclusives than I thought.
Thanks!!!

I'm sure this has been covered before. The last thread I found on this is over two years old, tho. I'm hoping to get a fresh approach on this.
I have a Gamecube and an Xbox. My kids have a PS2. Up until now, 99% of the games have been bought by my kids for the PS2. Lately, I've been thinking about picking up the new PStwo for myself to add to my own collection of systems (you know, a ps2 that the kids can't knock around, scratch, and kill within months).
My question is this...What are the best games for the PS2 that can't be found on the other two systems? What are the exclusives that make it worth owning a PS2 over the other systems?
I've answered this myself for the Gamecube (Zelda, Mario, etc.) and XBox(Halo, Sega's titles, etc.) but can't seem to figure out PS2 exclusives make the system worth owning. I'm not slamming the PS2 but am genuinely seeking which games I might pick up if I get a PSTwo.
Help.

I just noticed the "free pacman" on the corner of the box in the auction.
Was the cut-out portion required to receive the free Pacman?
-
I've noticed several times in Ebay auctions that the "5200" on the front of the 5200 box has been cut out...leaving a fairly large rectangular hole on the front of the box.
My 5200 box (from an Ebay seller) that I received a few years ago is also this way. I wasn't sure why someone would have neatly cut out the "5200" out of an otherwise nice box. Since then, I've seen quite a few boxes on Ebay that have been cut in this way.
Was there some sort of Atari mail-in offer that required the mutilation of 5200 boxes...a free dustcover or something? I'd love to know. Does anyone have info on this?
Here's a link to a current auction to show what I'm talking about:

New details on Atari Classics for DS
in Modern Console Discussion
Posted
Somehow, Nintendo really needs to show everyone why they MUST have a second screen for DS games. In other words, make the PSP look incomplete somehow for only having one screen. So far, the second screen is looking like an afterthought for text messaging and alternative control.
I, for one, was a bit dismayed to see the DS marketing campaign showing photos of the DS with the Stylus hovering over the second screen. I wondered if it doubled as a entry-level PDA. One thing that history has proven is that a gaming machine should not show any indication that it has an identity crisis. "Is it a game machine or not?" the average consumer might ask when seeing the stylus. I think a lot of people have had less than zero interest in the NGage from day one because it was trying to be a cell phone as well as a game machine...too many hats. Obviously, the Nintendo name seems to be overcoming any misperceptions about the DS, though. ...and to be fair, the Xbox and the PS2 don't seem to be hampered at all by their ability to play dvds.
Even so, I'm still a bit perplexed about the DS. I think if it had a very large screen instead of two screens, I would have been an early adopter of the DS. I'm not too thrilled that the main playing screen is the same size as the one on my GBA SP. Also, I'm not convinced yet that the second screen is much of a necessity or even more than a marketing gimmick. As it is, I'll wait and see how it goes and may pick one up when the price drops...which is usually not my attitude with new hardware, btw. I'm a pretty big Nintendo guy but (I hate to say) that the promise of the PSP has made me take a step back and wait a few months for the dust to clear a little.
Nintendo, make me want a second screen. I don't yet.
