  1. Anybody try putting this on a cart and running it on a 7800? I've tried twice and both just hang after going a few seconds into the attaract mode. Finally tried the same carts on a 2600 and they works fine.

  2. I heard from different sources different stories. One is that you can't play pitfall on a 2-port, and the other is you can't play pitfall on a 4-port....

    SO WHICH VERSION IS TRUE?!?!

I have both versions of 5200s but my rf switch for the 4-port fried.

Also, why cant you play pitfall on the one system??? Is it a hardware problem, or a software issue? Someone once said it was a bios issue. If it is, I was considering throwing the 4-port bios into the 2-port system.

See this older thread (http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=121). This has come up a number of times on the board.

  3. I've been using bit-hacker exclusively for a couple of years now and I agree it's way better to use for larger images. I used it to hack Eggomania into a game with an all new theme called Cannonfire. I downloaded HOM3 to compare it's newer features to bit-hacker but I can't get it to open and run on my Xp so I gave up on it. :(

You probably don't have the 2.0 .NET Framework installed here If you go to Windows Update it's probably sitting there waiting for you to install it.

  4. I played it for a few hours and eventually died on the 4th level. Only thing I noticed is that I can't change the speed of the messages. I can bring up the dialog, but when I try to use the keypad to change the speed nothing happens?

You do realize that the SG-1000 doesn't have a keypad, right? Try the joystick up and down.

Doh! Yes that works fine. Setting the speed to 0 makes all the difference.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  6. I tested it on a real 32K CV cart. If I just boot it up it freezes at the SEGA screen. If I hit reset a couple of times then the SEGA logo starts flashing and I can get into the game. Pretty cool actually. Reminds me a bit of the Bard's Tale. Still saw a few instances of Japanese in the fight sequences, but you probably already know that. Nice work!

  7. Could somebody make a binary compatible with a 32K eprom for the ATariage boards of this new version of Super Pacman? Please. with sugar on top.

    Allan

    Here you go

    Thanks a million.

Can I ask what you did with?

    Allan

I just split the 16K rom into 8K chunks and then just binary copied the low bits twice and the high bits twice to get a 32K rom.

  8. Hello,

Does anyone happen to have one of the converters that allows you to play Japanese Famicom carts on a US NES? Brand doesn't matter, as long as it's functional and still has the ribbon that lets you pull it out of the NES if it get detached.

    Thanks.

Some of the older Gyromite, and other carts, have one built in. I cracked my cartridge open and found this.

  9. Tempest,

There is one more thing I noticed in playing the final version. In the prior protos I've played, the star bonus seemed to appear based on a fixed timer. In the actual arcade it's triggered once you've eaten a fixed amount of fruits, veggies, or occasional hamburger. This final version seemed to have dropped the timer and now plays just like the arcade. It was one of the few things I disliked from the earlier releases and this one now plays just like the arcade!

Ok I'm slow this morning because I'm hung over. Explain that to me again very slowly and in small words... I think I know what you're talking about, but I want to make sure I get it right.

    Tempest

This is regarding the star that appears in the center of the maze. In the arcade, and in this final version, the star appears when once you've cleared half the screen. In the previous protos I believe it was just based off a fixed timer. Play the first board using each rom and you'll see the difference.

  10. Well there are three versions, I don't know which is one floating around out there.

Ver. 1 - This one has the "key bug" which occasionally causes doors not to open when a key is picked up, potentially making some levels unwinnable

Ver. 2 - This version fixed the key bug.

Ver. 3 - This version is the same as Ver. 2 but has some scrolling instructions on the title screen. It also has an easter egg, but we don't know how to trigger it.

  11. Any new fetures in the new version? Pretty cool you would bring this up today because I just updated my HOM3 page on my site last night and was wondering in you had a newer version :)

Here you go version 3.020. I think I did this back in January.

[NEW] Be able to select binary codes for left/right shift. Not sure why, but I thought this might be useful

[NEW] It's not particularly fast with roms over 40K so I added the ability to split Rom into multiple files

[NEW] Then of course you needed a way to join rom parts files into one file again

    Also fixed some bugs

[bug] If emulator path was bad it was using filename instead of the path which threw a confusing error

[bug] Version number wasn't being saved to registry

[bug] If emulator path is bad offer to open dialog to change the path

I haven't looked at the code since so this might be my last update.

  12. I'm trying to copy a sprite from one game and paste it into another. Is that possible or do I have to do it manually? (And furthermore, is there a way to see if the sprite I'm editing will exceed the limits?)

You can, but the trick is not to select the region of the sprite. Instead select all the hex codes for that area and copy. You can then paste anywhere else in the rom or into an another copy of HOM3. I believe if you try to paste beyond a region in the rom I either ignored the paste or throw up a warning message. Try and see.

I also have a newer version that I have been too lazy to post for a while.

  13. ik shawn is from Canada, i asked earlier if i could crash in his basement if things got worse, Shawn, im leaving tommrow :)

If you think taxes are high in the U.S. wait till you get to Canada!

From the article "The US proposal calls for this reporting to take place only when people sell more than several thousand dollars worth of merchandise in a year" this looks like it would be targeting the volume and professional sellers. Personally, if you are making a living off selling on eBay you probably should pay taxes.
