  1. I think the answer is simple. Thanks to the advent of emulation and products like those Jakks controllers, people are finding these methods of retro gaming more efficient/easier, thus eliminating the need to buy and keep their consoles and massive collections of carts. On the other hand, there are those who are simply growing tired of the retro game movement. I have experienced this to some extent mainly with the NES...I discovered NES emulation in 1997 and have basically overloaded myself replaying the NES classics I grew up with. That said, I can't even stand looking at NES games anymore...nor do I support Nintendo's agenda of repackaging NES and Super NES titles into the GBA format. But still, those of you who are collectors, here's your chance to go nuts. It's a buyer's market right now.
  2. 2D games sell wonderful on it, They do? I'm not so sure.... They are? Isn't the GC the console with the worst track record of 3rd party retention and support?
  3. Probably a good thing, considering it would be the NES version. Not that the NES version was a bad game or anything, but it was changed quite a bit from the arcade original (surprise surprise) and it lacked any sort of save or password feature, meaning you'd have to beat the entire game in one sitting. I did it and it's not something I'd ever want to do again....

    Atari Philosphy

Really? I never knew that! Thank you for your insightful post!
  7. I remember the older kids wearing those when I was growing up in the 1980's. Fortunately for me, I never owned one of these jackets!
  8. You'll find Afterburner II and HangOn in Kowloon. HangOn you'll find in the Yellowhead Building (as you near the game's end) and you'll come across Afterburner in the Phoenix Building when you look for Rod Stunt during the "Impress the Scout" segment of the game.
  9. I just re-read your question and I gave you the wrong data... I'm assuming you've rescued Captain Keyes, correct? If that's the case, you simply need to find your way back down to that large room (follow your distance waypoint tracker....it tells you how much further you have to go) on the second or third level I believe. Captain Keyes will then be able to fly you out of there.
  10. Ok I'm at the bottom floor Im at the bay door there's no prompt telling to press x Walk to the rightmost side of the door....there should be a switch-like object on the wall. You should get a prompt saying something like "press X to open door" if you're in the right spot....
  11. Follow the waypoints. I'm assuming you've found your way to the bottom floor...look for a large door, walk up to it and press X. That should open the door and let any surviving marines through which will allow you to proceed on your mission to rescue Captain Keyes.
  12. It's not far from the Come Over guest house (the hotel that Ryo stays in at the beginning of the game. As you leave the Come Over guest house, turn right and go around the corner. Go up the stairs. After the excessively long loading screens, you should find yourself in the Wan Chai shopping district with all sorts of upscale shops, etc. The arcade is in this area. Look for a slot house and you should be able to find your way around then.
  13. Apparently "The Sardius" is not pleased with your actions!
  14. And to make matters worse, they're so slooooooooooooow.....

    What would you do?

If it bothers you that much, dispose of it. Otherwise, offer it up to some newbie.
  16. May as well sell it off seeing how things appear to be going rather badly for you as of late (paying your mortgage with a credit card???). You should be able to re-purchase most everything in no time at all once you become fiscally stable again.
  17. I've gotten up to Level 4 and I'm noticing that the level layouts are mostly the same, but there seem to be more fuel containers scattered about the levels. Level 3 in particular has 3 fuel tanks lined up just as you enter the cavern! I'd be interested to know just how faithfully this game is recreated in the later levels. Any of the talented individuals who managed to beat the 2600 version willing to try it?
  18. I agree. The 2600 version (platinum edition) just seems more natural in ever respect. But, this is a cool little substitute that you can play whenever you're at a PC! BTW, I do like how the fuel tanks give a visual indicator of just how much fuel they contain!
  19. ?? What? It takes me to the site just fine. Try copying/pasting the URL into your browser instead...perhaps that will work.
